LOL @ BB... and congratulations! I'd never have thought of all that. Just goes to show you (well me) how clever the shader/material room can be! Now, just need to blend the "PATTERN" under the eyebrows...
Cheers,
Diolma
(PS - that last sentence is meant to be a joke, not a criticism..)
Thread: New Poser 9 - won't let me save... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
YES!! Thankyou, Bagginsbill - saving into "MyDocuments" worked! I can now import the .obj into Modo :-) Now all I have to do is learn how to use Modo... see you all again in about 6 months...

Diolma
Thread: New Poser 9 - won't let me save... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yup, bagginsbill - it's a folder under the Poser folder in Program Files. I haven't yet tested saving elsewhere.. it's never been important to me before. I'll try it out now.

Thanks all!!
Less than an hour til replies - this is the bestest forum!
Sorry bagginsbill - I should have made it clear: I was referring to "Export", not to "Save" - although that's the only way I know of to get a .obj file anyway :-)
@MaryHines - Do you mean I should do that in Poser? I can't see the files in Win 7 explorer..
Oh - and as far as I can remember, I accepted all the defaults on installation..or did I? Hmmmm... time to try again - thanks, WandW ...

"at all...it really is like riding a bike"
Damn! Last time I tried riding a bike I got knocked off it at a roundabout - got a crushed vertibra as I bounced my bum off the bike, onto the guy's bonnet, off the bonnet and onto the road. Sigh. 3 weeks in hospital and a ruined bike.
Oh, well. That's life.

"Daz must have heard you and taken that as a dare...they've now extended the free software giveaway until March."
WAAAGGH! (Check date of this post).
Why do I always find out too late...

Thread: "What 3D Program Should I buy?" | Forum: 3D Modeling
LOL and thanks all :-)
I certainly shall be downloading demos, just need to buy a new PC first. I'll probably also upgrade Poser, Vue and Hexagon as well - then buy Maya!! (After all, I'll be retired in April - need SOMETHING to do to while away all those empty hours...)
Cheers,
Diolma
PS: I need a new PC - the one I'm working on is over 5 years old, out of disk space and running Win 2K...

2. To examine potential habitats for water ice.
*.... Well if there was water, it's gonna take a mighty long pipe to get it back to earth.
Naah -- just pipe it over the edge. Gravity will make it fall to Earth, no problem...:-)

It's a great litte app, but be warned:
The poly-count of the resulting .obj's goes through the roof...

Thread: What's Quidam? rigging for Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"Limited to bump, diffuse and transmaps, so not displacement as in ZBrush."
Please forgive me if I'm being totally obtuse, but why can't bump maps be used as displacement maps in Poser (assuming that the bump is not also applied)?

Diolma

Sheer chance, Vince!
Just happened to be in the right spot at the right time (and in the right mood).
Things are obviously now going to go leftwards for me for the foreseeable future...

Ahah! That's it! An army of Meeks!
Errmmm.. oops. For a minute there I thought it read "Mikes".
"The Mikes shall inherit the earth" - well, it sounds feasible, if unlikely..
LOL:-)

"oh no! Wicked Zut! bad, naughy Zut!, she turned on the grail-shaped lamp!...;)"
I misread this 1st time and thought it said "turned into the.."
OTOH, I'm not so sure I'm not onto something here: Look at those teeth and eyes! (BTW, whoTF is Zut?? Tut(enkhamun) I know but..)
Excellent render and modeling!

Thread: need advice re: hair work flow | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"2. When I grow hair directly on the V4 head it comes out too thin so I created a skullcap and subdivided it in Shade. The problem I have now is that the group editor tool can't select some skullcap polygons, or else when I draw the square box to add it selects polygons outside the selection box. Are the polygons messed up because they were subdivided?"
I'm not sure if this is the cause of your problem, but it can't hurt to try:-)
Sometimes, if your camera is too close to the object you are trying to select polys/verts on, it just doesn't seem to work. (This happens in the group editor in general, not just the hair room).
The reason can often be because the "hither" value of the cam is too big. Anything closer than that value gets ignored.
Two (obvious) solutions:
- Move the camera further away, or
- Reduce the hither value...

Diolma
