Thank you for all of your imput. I hope to try taking some more pictures this weekend with a tripod and will post results for everyone and Diane since she seems to be having similar problems as me. I will try varing apature shots as well as exposure times to see what best results are. I have come to the conclusion that I am better shooting in manual mode instead of automatic mode, since it seems that the camera has a harder time focusing in on the lights at night. Thanks again for all of the advise so far, Michael
Thread: How do you make edges of picture fade to white? | Forum: Photoshop
Another method that is very simple as well is to select your crop marquee tool and set your feather to about 5 or 10 pixels and select an area a bit smaller than the actual size and copy and make a new layer and paste on that layer or hit ctrl j to make a new layer of your selection. You should then have a nicely faded nordered picture...works great with circle marquee tool too for portraits. Happy Rendering, Michael
Thread: Photoshop 6 | Forum: Photoshop
As far as I can tell...from word of mouth, Photoshop 6 has incorporated alot of Illustrator's vector features as well as Illustrator 9 has incorporated alot of Photoshop's layer features like opacity changes and the lot. I say in 2 or 3 years I wouldn't be supprised if both Photoshop and Illustrator become one mega program. Caio 4 now Michael
Thread: Multiple Suns, Moons & exporting .obp files | Forum: Bryce
Something I have done a few times also is literaly increase the size of teh sun or moons to very large size and move up and out in the atmosphere.......really scale teh size proportionally what it should be at. Basically make extremely large planets and place way back and up in your scene. That way the moons will be high in the atmosphere. Happy Rendering, Michael
Thread: How do you make a gear in Bryce? | Forum: Bryce
Why not just make a gear lets say in illustrator and save it as a jpeg or tif and import it in the terrain editor. I have used this method before and it works very well... Happy Rendering, Michael
Thread: Diamond Viper V550 vs. GeForce vieo cards | Forum: Animation
Unfortunatly my motherboard will only support a processor up to maybe 450 which is not a noticeable difference. I was looking to upgrade my computer as best as possible without having to put a new motherboard in (that would basically be building a new system). I am going to get a new computer in the future but was looking to upgrade my computer so it is compatible with LW6 as much as possible. So that was why I was asking about video cards.Although someone emailed me from LW6 newsgroup and he told me he runs a Diamond Viper V550 with his lightscape and it runs fine except for a few glitches but that's mainly because he has win98se and not WinNT.

Thread: Import Poser Characters to Bryce??? | Forum: Bryce
You can save your poser figure already posed as a .obj and import it into bryce using file>import and select obj format. You might have to do some post render work as poser figures sometimes come through with seams showing. BTW it is best to ungroup the figure and regroup accordingly seperate hair from body and apply the texture in the materials library as parametric scaled. Hope this helps Happy Rendering, Michael
Thread: poser -> bryce patch? | Forum: Bryce
As far as I was able to find out from last weeks Bryce talk posting, that there is no plans for a poser import patch in the near future. Thay seem mainly focused on developing the material library more and the materials interface as well as speeding up the render engine as well. No plans for any type of modeler either =(.

I am personally interested in how to make lightning bolts using Photoshop.....I am very familiar with it since I have been using it for 4 years now. But I mainly do restorations or 2d work and create effects using kpt filters and brushes....would I draw a lightning bolt using lasso and fill and blur?
Thread: High resolution and the computer | Forum: Bryce
Render the image to disk. Thant way you can select your resolution and your picture size as well. This seems to give you the best control over the render. Just like John said the image must be at least 150 dpi for print.I work in a print shop in MD and I have personaly rendered a poster from bryce at 600 dpi 24x36 and the image came out great when I printed it out on canvas on our HP 2500 Design Jet Printer. Happy Rendering Michael
Thread: Newbie to Bryce | Forum: Bryce
Go to a site www.livingtextbook.com It is a site for my teacher Harry St.Ouirs in MD. He teaches his classes online and his classes are also on cd that is his book for his classes. His 3D design he uses exclusivly Bryce. It only will cost you about $30 to buy a copy and he will show you everything you need to get started. It has tutorials and goes in depth into the interface and shows some graet shortcuts. You view it through your browser and has great visuals to go with the text for each section. It is a great easy cheap way to learn Bryce. Highly recomended. Michael
Thread: Bryce - for modelling? Or rendering? | Forum: Bryce
3DS Max is a modeler and a renderer, Rhino is both as well but mainly used for modeling, and Raydream is both although it is history since metacreations got rid of their software, replaced by Carrara anyway. Bryce is very good for rendering and is easy to work in. It is best suited for creating environmets, landscapes and rendering. You can do some limited modeling in it using the terrain editor. But as to date it is not a good modeling program. As Spike said hopefully Corel will put some sort of spline modeler or magnet deformers in version 5. One can only dream eh? Michael
Thread: Image sizes for Print | Forum: Bryce
I just rendered to disk an image for a poster at 600 dpi 24x36. Although you actually only need 300 dpi for print I wanted to make it even crisper since it will be so large. The result was great, as was said Bryce does the math for you and although it took me 2 days to render to disk that particular image size, the outcome was well worth it. It's always better to render at the required size or larger because let's face it you can always scale down but you can't scale up. Michael =)
