Thread: Poser 7 SR 2.1 now available! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Maybe its time for someone like Autodesk or Adobe to buy poser. At least then we would have truly stable performance, a great render engine with alot of the stuff of the big boys, and it still be affordable. And imagine is Autodesk bought it... out of the box exporting to Max! drools

My system is not the problem it does it on both my desktop, laptop, my mom's computer, and my cousins computer. This is not isolated, and or a system problem. Tech support doesnt do anything to help with the problem.
I will submit a scene, as it happens with either Firefly or Poser 4 Scanline renderer. I will try and get a screenshot of this error as well. It has to due with Textures and memory. On these forums it has been known as a memory leak.

Sadly Uli its whenever I try to render. Been this way since Poser 5. Its been addressed on these forums for 3 years now, its a serious issue, but everyone from e-frontier, e-whoeverownsPoserthismonth has poo-pood it, and blames the user for it.
this is why I pose all my stuff in poser, and then port it to daz. Daz doesnt have this "covered up" memory leak. If it did, I can tell you, DAZ would address it and take care of it.

Content Advisory! This message contains profanity
This update still hasn't fixed the infamous memory leak. I still get it if I try to render in firefly, and NOW, with the update installed, the memory leak has moved to include the Poser 4 scanline renderer!
Come on EF! Get with the damned program and fix REAL BUGS. This bug has been here since Poser 5, and has never been addressed.
Here's my system spec;s:
Laptop
2.0ghz Core 2 Duo 667 FSB
2 GB DDR2 667mhz
2x 160GB HD's
GeForce 8700 M GT 512mb graphics card, dedicated.
Desktop
2.4ghz Athlon X2 4600
3 GB DDR400
120gb HD
200gb HD
GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB
I know its not my hard ware, nore is it my memory. I build my own computers, save for my laptop. I'd know if there was anything amiss with either system as ram errors don't care what program is run, if it hits that sector in the memory, error.
I'm sick of the run around and the tech support telling me its my computer, my user level, blah blah. DAZ Studio doesn't have this problem, and I can render whatever the hell I want without a problem. Poser has advanced a lot over the last three years, but its also gone down hill. Anyone else still having the loveable memory leak bug?
Thread: The Wonderful Poser 7 SR 1... NOT! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have a feeling I'll be switching to an Intel based system. AMD has dropped the ball again on performance to $$ ratio once again.
Still, stock Poser 7 is better than SR1.

What strikes me as bizarre is how the memory leak continued through all of Poser 6's SR's. It was never caught, never addressed. It was non-existent for me in the "out of the box" installation, but reared its ugly head with the first SR for Poser 7. Someone apparently screwed up somewhere. I don't think it has to do with a system config, but how the program itself addresses memory and memory usage. I can open a scene in 3D Studio Max that has close to a million polys, and not get the same error. If it were a configuration problem, one would think that other 3D apps would get a lil bonky. Not so with my system. Its stable, unless I open up a 4gb HD Video file, then it slows down to a crawl.
Makes ya wonder.

Each OS is on its on HD. I forgot to mention that Mac OS runs on a 120gb WD Passport drive. It took about a week of tinkering to get it to run on that.
For me, Poser 7 ran beautifully right out of the box. Poser 6 was the opposite. It took 3 service releases before the memory leak was even addressed, and even then it wasn't 100% fixed. I think e-frontier needs to deprive its code monkey's of bananas for a month thanks to this :)

Just a couple of questions for ya Templar... 1. When in Polytrans, did you rename the material zones? And if so, could you post a couple of screenies showing how? Or a bit of a tutorial on how? 2. Concerning the poser paint shader, what are the steps to doing it? I can see by the image that you've got just about everything interconnected, but just how did you arrive at this? :) 3. Did you use P4 renderer or FireFly? 4. I still haven't gotten my cookie dagnabit! :) Thanks again! Blade

The Interior of the car is a bit fubar... can see the background through it. Plus the spoiler is also fubar... eesh. Unless that was done on purpose? :) Never know with us 3D nuts. Also, the Air Duct on the roof of the car is rather screwy too. Almost no definition, looks like a pimple in a way. Anyways, do you have the Murcilago's material zones edited from the stock model? If so, could ya post em in freestuff? This would help me out majorly... Seeing as the peep that modeled the car didn't bother to make a logical naming system for his model. Thanks again!

points to above post by Templar I'M DESPERATE!!!! I'll name my first kid after you if can make this work! Hmmm I don't think God wants me to reporduce, so I'll name my next dog after you! JK. Is POLYTRANS by Okino, free or a pay program?
Thread: Poser memory issues. Again. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
will try that. I had to curb windows Pigsty of a paging file earlier. Damned thing was taking up almost 12gb of space. why can't MS make a DECENT OS???! goes over and kicks MS for good measure
Thread: Poser memory issues. Again. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I get that one occaisionally. Me thinks that Curious Labs would do well to sell its programmers to MS... :) Anyways, I'll try SR1, and see if that works. If not, back to Poser 5 for me.
Thread: Poser 6 - A disappointment | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
For me, this has been a needed, and welcomed update. I pulled my hair out many a times with both P4 and P5, and thus far with P6, the only problems that I've had is porting my runtime directory over, but that was more a user error than anything else. Here's the thing. This program is $300 for the Windows version, and is meant to be a HOBBYIST utility. I don't think that CL really realizes exactly HOW big Poser really is. I agree that there are some bugs that need fixing, but compared to the fubar that was P5, I'll glad deal with them. Also, don't forget that Poser has always had problems running on Windows, even when MetaCreations was doing it. I can remember having a snot load of issues with memory and renders with P4 and Win2K, and I had a gig of ram back then. And what processor are you running mason? My cousin is running an AMD64 3400+ (about $200 right now, give or take a couple of bucks), and P6 runs smooooooooooth as silk. When they give you the minimum requirements, remember that its the bare minimum to even get the program to BOOT UP at, not run well :)
