Thanks all for the input. Good idea Cat on the leaves. As soon as I get the dirt and sandy effect worked out I definitely put in some debris. Lin I think you read my mind. Before I even started I did a search for birds but didnt really find anything. I thought a dove would be nice, but perhaps a bit cliche'ic. Right now i'm stuck on making the dirt look windblown. I'm still trying different materials set to Fuzzy, but can't seem to find a good one. Brycester... I can't use this for a challenge cuz that would be cheating! lol.. and we all hate that "C" word.

You're talkin rework, you dont ask much do you lol. Let me first ask about the feet and fog. It's really supposed to be more of sand and wind, rather than fog. I had planned to do a little blending/smudging on the hard lines it wont be so noticeable. Are you saying it would look better to bring the wind blown effect (if there is any) behind her? Please tell me it looks at least a little windy? lol The space between the bars, and the window, were all intentional. My intent was to show her escape was actually the fact that she keeps herself caged, she could leave anytime she wanted. I hoped to make the window into a mini lanscape scene, as if she might spend time gazing at the outside world. Oh the large space beside the door was a goof. There's a bar there but I must have somehow set it to invisible in one my gazillion rearrangement sessions. Thanks for the input.

Well the point being this is a Bryce forum, a Bryce challenge, and the best Bryce community around. I was just throwing the idea out because it would let us revel in the Bryceness of it all... not to mention a way to get to vote for four people instead of three! To me it doesnt matter one way or another.

Ok I didnt explain the extra point very well. The pure bryce point doesnt go towards the normal challenge voting. It's just tallied seperately at the end. The artist with the most pure bryce points would just get recognized with the other three winners as the "pure bryce" winner for the challenge. When you post your challenge entry you would state if it was pure bryce or not. lol Drac... not exactly what I had in mind. I think it should be a bit more. I think it should be no imported meshes AND no 2d picts AND no post. Any restrictions here wouldnt affect the normal challenge at all. It may be noone even enters a pure bryce scene for the challenge for a particular month. Seven and zanny... I hope the above explained it better. Everyone would still be in the running for 3,2 & 1 no matter if their work was pure bryce or not. Normal monthly Challenge. You wouldnt be entering two different challenges. Again, the pure bryce point doesnt go towards the normal voting. It's just a way to get four names up in lights. I guess it would even be possible for someone to get in the top three AND win the bryce only award too. For example, lets say the the above example vote turned out to be the winners, with vasquez getting the most pure bryce points, AgentSmith and clay would announce the four winners. I personally thought this month's challenge topic sucked. Drac, your description of dieties and us being god's of bryce (or anything) was a bit too close to religious lines that I dont like to cross. Of course, I dont hold anyone to the same lines so this is just offensive to me. I also found your list of what you thought fit the topic was unacceptable. Art to me is about freedom... exploring the imagination with as little boundaries as possible. I think a challenge winner going into such detail about what you should or shouldnt do in one's art is counter productive. I also think it's down right silly to not allow imported meshes while at the same time allowing picture composites (2d picts). This was hardly a pure bryce challenge, imo. All that aside, I think the entries were wonderful. Use of 2d picts, off topic entries, mediocre scenes, underworked or not, has nothing to do with how much we can appreciate the beauty in each one's efforts and imagination. Blue

Yes! Glad you changed your mind too... and I think the drape replacement fits much better too... ... I dont see it as "confusing", I see it as the imagination at it's best. Imagination as the God of Bryce!

Great atmosphere. Maybe the shadow is the bottom of a terrain? Might try and clip it in the terrain editor and see if that fixes it.

perhaps claymor... but for some reason that seems to go against the spirit of what drac wanted from this challenge... I may be interpreting it wrong also. If we can use 2d pictures in that way, heck we could render absolutely any scened we wanted, take that render's pict and apply it to a new 2d picture in a new scene and render that.. and tada.. no imports! I think using a picture of a poser hand is the same as using an imported poser hand ;).. but just as you say.. that's just on man's opinion. That aside, I still think it's a top notch sci-fi scene!

Very cool!.. but hehe.. I would think 2d picture planes would fall under the "import" category... better ask the judges on this one ?
