I have been checking them out. It seems they have the best prices and highest ratings. Thanks

Thank you again all for your input. It looks like NVidia is the way to go and so I will. Besides (no slam to ATI) I've only used ATI VCs in the past so maybe it's time to try a new brand.

Well, so far, on your recommendations I am looking at the Nvidia 7950 which is Xp64 compatible and reasonably priced. The 8800 is probably way more than I need and very expensive. Thanks all. Keep'em coming though.
Thread: P7/FF render to blank screen: FYI Tech reply. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Teyon,
I have the file, but I would imagine you would need all the figure and tex files to refer to, right?
If you want it I can send it to you. It's 50mb without the figures and tex files. So it may be best if I burn a disc and send snail mail.

Thread: background pic not showing in preview | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I had that problem too, but only in the Poser 4 render engine, not FF and my background was a .bmp. I had the options checked in the render options screen. I haven't solved it yet.
Thread: Do Multiple Runtimes Affect Speed/Performance Of Poser 6? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you open up your file structure and maneuver to your Poser program and open up the "download" folder under Poser, you can copy this folder (if it is empty) and paste it anywhere you choose on your HD and use it as an xtra Runtime. Then when you install stuff like Daz' stuff, you can install to that Runtime. Be sure to name it anything that makes it easy to identify your stuff. Then when you open Poser it will not load that runtime keeping it out of memory until you need it. This will give you more RAM or room in the Pageing file if Poser needs it to render.
I seem to remember a tutorial here at R'osity that gave specific instructions. I used it a couple of years ago it learn how to create mine. You can search for it or perhaps someone else has a link to it that they could post.

Yes, it would work. I have done this many times. I use an external hard drive to back up all my stuff because, as you said, CD's aren't big enough. If you have a local used computer store around you, you can buy an old hard drive with some size to it, that works, for cheap and get an external USB drive adapter and easily backup your runtimes to it and just copy them back when you need to.

Thread: [I NEED HELP!] Poser 7 No Disk Error! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The error message indicates you are trying to load from a disk; but your message indicates you are trying to load from your hard drive. How did you install the prop?
Thread: Poser looks for files and Independent Runtimes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well I've tried it with one scene and it seems to have fixed itself. I'll try a few more.
Thanks again

Well, I hadn't thought about that but I have been using P7 since I got it and opening files I've created in P6. You think that might be it? I'm going to try it out.
Thanks
Thread: Poser in External HD Runs Noticeably Slower than in Internal HD ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have 2 SATA drives in my machine; one for normal machine stuff & programs and the other for all my graphic arts programs, including my Runtimes and everything runs fast. I do backup everything to an external drive though and I do notice a slower speed with it. BTW, don't forget to plug it in when looking for stuff.
Thread: Help Me Build a New Computer | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
My 2 cents, because I'm considering the same thing, if you are going to stick with a Windows based machine then wait 6 months for MS to work all the bugs out of Vista and build a machine around that. It will be able to use more than 2G ram because it's built on the same philosophy as a Mac. Oh, and speaking of Mac, there's a consideration! And Mac can run Windows.
