I have a Hitachi 20" CRT and a Megavision 17" LCD on one of my home computers. I use Pantone ColorVision Hardware/Software to calibrate both monitors. I always check the appearance of an image on both monitors before I release it for use. The image looks very good and almost identical on both monitors, and prints to look the same on my Canon S9000 using a printer profile for the printer/paper combination being used. I just did a test. I made a 600 pixel X 600 pixel image. On the LCD (1280 X 1024) the image measures 5 7/8" X 5 7/8", so there is no distortion. On the CRT at 1600 X 1200 pixels the image is 6 1/8" X 6 1/8", so there is also no distortion. I changed the CRT resolution to 1280 X 1024 pixels and the square measures 6 5/8" high X 6 7/8" wide, so there is some distortion. So I guess the LCD is corrected for distortion. I always wondered that. Anyway, I am saving for another LCD display to replace my 20" CRT. I use a Dell 2001FP 20.1" 1600 X 1200 LCD at work, and once I save up enough to buy one, the CRT is gone. If you think LCD's do not compete in image quality to CRT's today, you better look at some of the newer models. I can use my desk space for other things and still enjoy good quality color with an LCD.

I'm pretty sure that Jimdoria had the correct fix. I have been wondering how to get rid of that problem myself, but never took the time to research it. Thank you Jimdoria for the simple fix. I am a happy camper now! If that is not the fix that Huolong was looking for, at least your post helped me. Thanks again!
Thread: 51 Pontiac Free | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
My dad owned a 1951 Pontiac when I was a young boy. It is the first car that I remember. Then we had a '56, '60, '61, '65, '66, '72, '76, '79 and that was the year he passed away. My mother and I have had many more Pontiacs since then. My first car was a 1968 Pontiac Lemans Sprint. Oops. Sorry! I didn't mean to get carried away. Thank you so much for the great car! Giving such a fine gift is very generous of you!

Thread: poser 6...XP home | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have a desktop and a laptop both running on XP Pro. But I also have a desktop that has an older MSI K7T Turbo motherboard that I use for video files and sound files. The PC is running Windows XP Home edition SP2. The boot drive is a Western Digital 250GB ATA drive. Windows XP Home edition with SP1 had no problem partitioning and formating the drive to its full capacity in one partition. I have heard that Windows XP Home without SP1 is limited to 137GB.
I also have a Seagate 300GB ATA hard drive that I use for storage. It was also partitioned as one large partition, and formated on the Windows XP Home system without using any special software.
If your Windows XP Home does not recognize a large drive, it either does not have SP1 installed, or you have a BIOS conflict.
I hope that helps.
Of course both are formatted using NTFS.

Yes! That is it! Thank you so much for your help. I'm trying to explain to my wife why I NEED Vue 5I instead of Vue 4.22. She might understand better now! ;-) By the way, I love this image.

Good luck at DAZ! I am surprised by your choice as well. However, even those with opinions must eat. As for your justification as to why 'open source' program code is good, but 'open source' .obj code is not, it is my opinion that your association with DAZ has already warped your sense of logic. I for one HATE the RTE and Mover file coversion, and seldom use figures, etc. that require them. I also remember well the SPIRIT of the original poserforum.com, which was to keep sharing Poser related items for free. What a dream that was! Especially compared to the nightmare created by the love and quest for a dollar that this place has created. (Again, just my opinion!) Anyway, I hope the best for you at DAZ, and expect to see some great things come out of what you have to contribute there. They are lucky to have gotten you!

I'm glad to know that I must not have been the only person that contacted you about text size! I think what you see on your screen is not what some of us see on our screen. The new text size is better, but still way smaller than the text I see here on Renderosity. At least this time I didn't have to copy the text to Word to make it large enough to read. Now to the content. I like reading your unbiased blathers. However, this time I must admit that your bias towards Poser 6 shows through. Still enjoyed reading it though.

Thanks PhilC! Very entertaining! Kristta wrote: "I've already done my taxes for the year. Already got the check back, too. They are raising the married folks deductions to 10,000 next year. I should get a whopper of a check next year if I itemize. Let me tell you folks, study your tax laws and learn to use the system." When you learn to use the system, you will not get a check back. You will use YOUR money all year, instead of letting Uncle Sam use it!

Thread: Poser 6 512RAM which System | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have to agree that more RAM may not always be the answer. I have an Athlon 2600 XP system with 1.5GB of SDRAM, an Athlon 1.4 GHz system with 1GB of SDRAM, an eMachine with a 2.66 GHz Celeron and 1GB of DDR RAM (really my wife's), and a Toshiba Laptop with an Intel based 1.6 Ghz processor and 512MB of laptop (who knows, the laptop is over two years old) RAM. Although all of the desktop systems render faster, the laptop can render larger scenes in both Poser 4, Poser 5, and Vue 4.2. In fact, the Athlon 2600 is the fastest, followed closely by the eMachine, and the Athlon 1.4Ghz takes a distant third, just a touch faster than the laptop. But when the complexity of the scene is a concern, the laptop will render larger scenes than any of the desktops without locking up. My 'Beach Party' 58 Faerie scene in the gallery was rendered on the laptop using Vue. It took 8 days to render, but kept chugging along. The faster Athlon and the eMachine locked up sometime during the first night. They completely quit responding, and had to be rebooted. I did leave the Athlon running an extra day, but Vue showed no progress, and the drive light never flashed. Also, the cursor never responded. My 29 faerie scene was created in Poser 4 as two PZ3 files on the Toshiba. There were 15 faeries in one file and 14 faeries in the other file. That was all the Toshiba could handle in Poser 4, before getting too slow to bear. I started the scene on the Athlon 2600 system but as always, I could only get about 8 to 10 characters into Poser before that system got too slow. The files were imported into Vue 4 to render, on the Toshiba. So I guess the long moral is that RAM is not all that counts. Also, each system has a fixed 2GB swap file created after defragmentation. Sorry for the long boring post, but I do not have a life. ;-)

If everything you say is true, I will be very excited to see your work in a few months! I like this image. I have spent way more time on images, and ended up with way less. If I were to change anything, I would figure out a way to add more depth to the mountains, as they appear somewhat flat. But in all honesty, I would not change anything if I ever achieved such an image!

I also am very happy with the price that I paid, and the service that I got.
This sort or reminds me of the story that Jesus told about the laborer. Each laborer accepted a known wage for their work, and then when others arrived later for the same wage, the ones that had worked longer felt cheated, even though they had agreed to work for a certain amount. Personally, I'd have paid much more for Poser6, especially now that I have played with it a few days!
So if you are one of the ones that agreed on a certain price, enjoy Poser6 for that price. If you haven't purchased Poser6 yet, it sounds like now is your chance.
