Thread: "add to library" button sometimes missing | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
hborre, it is installed in Program Files. I don't think the permissions thing was the problem (read below for my fix) because I had problems with Sketchup trying to write to the program files folder and the files ending up in a protected folder, part of UAC I think. Anyway, I have all the software that might do that authorized to write there.
Anyway, I think I have found a fix that people might want to try. I knew that the library was displayed using flash, so one of the first things I tried was updating to the latest version of Flash in my default browser (firefox). But that didn't fix it. For some reason I tried the same thing in IE instead. That seems to have fixed it for me. I'm not sure why, but it worked last night and was still working when I loaded Poser just now to double check. So I'd be very curios if that helps the other posters who have a similar problem. Give it a try and post back if it corrects it for you guys as well.

I realize people are trying to help, so hopefully this doesn't come off wrong, but I'm not new at this. I have a library full of materials that I have added in the past. I know how to add them, so I don't need to be told "click this then this." Something has changed from P7 such that my install does not present the add button when all the other steps have been followed.

Not for me. I only get three or four buttons, add folder, remove, or fav. This is just in materials. In pose, figure, etc., I get all the relevant ones. But in materials I never seem to get add to library.

Cool, I used depth maps in PS all the time in my "pro" work to get that, so I'm open to it! I just didn't know of a way to get that info. I'll check out the plug in. Thanks Paul.

Yeah, hborre, I'm noticing that big time. It is actually taxing my i7 3+ Ghz system. That's a new feeling.

LOL, no joke bagginsbill! I've got my Canon 50D and a fast 2.8 prime lens sitting next to me... this is not close to what I can get with that equipment. But the more I play the more potential I see. A little depth makes a huge difference in the believability of renders.
Good call on the pixel samples, that helps a lot but the more of this I add, the more I start to recall my older, slower computing days.
What would REALLY help is if there was a way to lock that DOF "target" on the screen. With photography I usually lock focus with the center AF point and then recompose to get the framing I want. I find that very hard with Poser since the focus point vanishes as soon as I let go of the slider.

Interesting... more post filtering helps a lot. But still not quite what I've used to with a fast lens stopped at the right setting.

That fixed it. I could have sworn I tired that. But I've rebooted since then, so I'll never know. Thanks for the help 3dactor. It is working for me thanks to your idea.
Thread: Limit on the lights in Poser 7 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hm... I wonder then if something funky is going on with my graphics card. They do not show in render or preview. I'll be upgrading my graphics card soon. I'll see then I guess.

I did read the manual, back in P5. Guess back then 8 seemed like enough so I didn't commit it to memory. But to your point, long renders are not a good enough reason to limit us to 8 light sources. Yet another way this software seems to be behind... apparently even the "pro" version. Thanks for the info all.

Besides Poser and SketchUp, the only production 3D apps I run is CS4. And I don't run that too much for 3D. Mostly I would be using the GPU for hardware accelerated filters.
Is there still a brand NVIDIA/ATI that Poser works best with?
