Formatted to render as AVI...And, I do have it checked to render over a background picture.
Thread: Which do you think (in your opinion)...... | Forum: 3D Modeling
I've been lightwaving for almost 7 years. It was easy for me when I first got it....(I came from Rhino....1...lol). All of them have different strengths and weaknesses. I guess what I'm saying is....go with the one that you find easiest, most intuitive.
Also, regardless of which modeller you choose...look into getting a copy of zbrush. HORRIBLE INTERFACE.....but, I think it actually has the "make art" button.
Thread: Why am I getting less comments on my uploads? | Forum: Community Center
Well, I do my art commercially....like, it pays my rent, and the rent on my shop. Also, everything else. This whole commenting thing hurt me, a good while back. I guessed at that time that I was too busy to make many friends. Sigh...story of my life...still at the office, groan. Take it with a grain of salt. No one MEANS to hurt your feelings. Sadly, they just inadvertently do.
Pop....Pop....Poppi!!!!
Thread: Need all the info about making morphs I can get. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I sux with zBrush I try to make a babe she comes out a deformed bumpy monster but we have mirrors ;)
What tools do use for morphs in zBrush ? Silo 2 does. Probably ZBrush......
once you get over the quirky interface zbrush is cooler than sliced bread. the brushes all have focal shift points so you have control over the amount of impact on surrounding polygons. you can also, in lw (not sure about 7.5) hit the "n" key when in "dragnet" mode. that will also set the falloff on the surrounding polys.
Thread: How do you model Figures and props? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The Daz figures were modelled in Lightwave. Many use Wings 3d the free app to make Poser clothing. Zbrush is excellent software for making morphs.
Thread: Is poser held to a higher standard? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
**Poser is better than most of those highend apps that take years to learn & frankly, I don't care to learn nor spend the money on them. Highend apps are nothing but bloatware with bells & whistles that most users don't even bother with.
**It didn't take me years to be able to model in LW. Within a month, I'd done a model or two, then began learning the rendering aspects. Of course, if you don't care to learn that's a good way to remain static throughout your life. If you have no high end app, how can you possibly label them all as :**bloatware"? ** LW isn't surely bloatware and **zbrush is the closest thing i've ever seen to something with a "make art" button. ** Check out what the new zb3 can do at pixologic. Awesome, for only $489.
Of course, some would rather plop down thousands of dollars in the marketplace to get the latest stuffages that the others are buying that week. Fine, it's your money. You can spend it on what you like. Me, I'd rather have the app, and the knowledge to make my own content. "Cause I really don't feel like buying something that with a little effort, and tenacity, I can make myself.

**I had thought we were talking about the 'finished product' and artwork, not modeling and building.
**However, at some of the more technical 3d sites folks are showing off their TECHNICAL skills. Sometimes in hopes of getting commissioned to model something.
You then go to browse galleries (not just here) to see if there's anything you like. What kinds of images would you be drawn to?
I love, absolutely love, some of the stuff created with zbrush, or zbrush and another base modeller. I like unusual, one of a kind pieces. I am not into pinups much. I sort of also like weird, with awesome lighting.

"i'm asking whether people turn off the moment they recognize vicky or miki or other "poser" content, or flip to ultra critical.
so it's better to have a picture in maya or cinema4d or max or lightwave, with poor posing and poor expression and hackneyed composition? with yet another female made from scratch that has 1/10 the quality of the available figures? or to do badly proportioned, stiff, ludicrously posed cg drawings and paintings? "
To the first part of this ?.....Yes. The folks I know in the industry do not want any recognizable Poser figures. Period. Why? When they pitch their products it would be a kiss of death to have someone pop up and say...."Why isn't that Vicki as the virtual person in the architectural walk through, etc."
Answer to part 2.....NO....that's absurd. I also would love a link to some of this pics that are so badly done. They may have been striving to create a good mesh with excellent topology, and, I'd have to see the pictures to make up my own mind as to the actual quality. People at CG talk are often more into showing off their "models" than actually playing around posing them. Over all, you get far less kudos for badly done work at the cg sites than one gets here,.

lol @ Pakled: is that Pop pop Poppi? land sakes, it's been quite some time since I seed dat name...;)
Yes, it's me. I still lurk, but don't Pop around too much. I actually spend more time modelling and all the rest than I do chatting, anymore. Lightwave killed me for forum life, I guess.

ah hah!!!! just looked at your loom script....basically, a "node" in lw is a text file like that saved as a .nod file......very cool...thanks for the link. I think that could easily be tweaked into a .nod file.

I bet I could make my cloth shaders for lw because it's all math. YUP....but where might I find these "specs" you need to do this?
Thread: OT? -- Poser insulted at 3DBuzz, I decided not to let it pass | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
as long as the app has math nodes or equivalent.....yeah, lw has math nodes. that's why i didn't catch your "sarcasm". I am lost with the danged things. let alone when to input as a vector, or otherwise. I think I might be able to copy and tweak your node setups, though and come up with something. I've been trying my best to do a decent sss simulation and looks as if you are headed in that direction as well.
Thread: OT? -- Poser insulted at 3DBuzz, I decided not to let it pass | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I love your shaders. I wonder if I could simulate them in lw. (Poser frustrates me, too much lookin for stuff.)

I challenge ANY Maya/Max arteest to a RL knitting, sewing, crocheting, quilting competition and well see how they can stand up to the REAL thing.
OOPS....I'm a lw user. But, hey, I do all that stuff (except the knitting)pretty well, still, though I don't have the time for it of late. My grandmother was a dollMAKER....she taught me a good deal. I've never had a Barbie :*0 Maybe, that last bit sums up this whole thread. Some make the dolls, others collect them for show.

There are lightwavers who make shaders. And, now, with the nodes, we're all getting real math conscious. Also, lots of folks use zbrush for texturing these days. And, why is using downloaded texture images/photos worse than using a whole premade model with textures and all the rest? I'm not getting that.
I like making my own stuff. I have for years. Unless you try it, you can't claim to know the satisfaction in it.
