great image, I love the harshness of the light, it only makes the butterfly seem more fragile and beautiful. you're right too - beauty and perfection are not the same thing. :)

I've had this happen before- the best solution is to keep a chemial ice pack in your camera bag wrapped in a towel and give your camera 10min in the bag for every 30 you spend shooting. It makes you choose your shots a little differently but it helps with keeping the lense working. If that doesn't correct the problem then I'd definetly get in touch with Sigma- DHolman is right, they may fix it under warranty. Good Luck! -Akire

the b&w version is great! it's very pure, simple and the geometry is very pleasing to view. wonderful work firestorm

i like the look of the shot in the gallery but this one has a good feel too- i wouldn't discount this image just because the flash didn't go, i like this one just as well!

is the first one rocks? that's really freaky, not in an "eww" way but in a "wow, I'd hang that on my wall" way. I like "Channel" too, great pov!

don't! the words are great, it adds an element humanity to the shot. anyway, you can't really read them and being the sci-fi geek that I am my mind immediately went to some alien language.... it's a beautiful shot jacoggins

I kinda liked it with the purpleish cast- it gave the impression of a very old photograph. The corrected image is great too, it draws your eyes down the rows and gives more of an impression of spring.

fall back on that trusty yellow filter for upping contrast on cloudy days when shooting b&w... it's a great shot though- vaguely escher....
