A long standing standing forum at Delphi forums is still active, with Bryce devotees and resources like objects, textures,etc.. It was the first 3d forum I ever joined back in 1995. I am on my tablet, so I don't have access to my links. I will add the link tomorrow.
Thread: Poser Queue manager 11 serial number the same as Poser serial Number? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
They're still doing this, enabling the Queue Manager install by default. For newbs to this newer version of Poser (I've been using a 20 year old version) it can be confusing.

I've been using Bryce since I purchased 3D at full retail back around 1997 (I've still got the box). I'd imagine I'll keep using it regardless of what DAZ or anyone else does, far into the future. It's a tool that I simply enjoy using. ;-)

Thanks for the critique. I've been having issues getting those two to look right as the terrain goes downhill from the camera then back uphill just beyond the camp fire which makes them look like they're floating. As for that red bit, it's a random flower. More evident in a larger render. May be too distracting and needs to go.
Thanks again!

Anyone else? I was hoping this would generate a bit of discussion since it's so full of composition flaws. ;-)

Thanks folks for your responses, I really appreciate the input. I'll work on it some more over the next week or so.
Thread: Gallery Upload Failure? | Forum: Community Center
Was able to upload later that day. Thanks!

Yes, those were basically my thoughts as well. But when it comes to the point where it's no longer making them any money, why not let the users have a go, whether it be a code refresh or plug-ins. IMO, it would be better to breathe new life into it (and possibly ignite new interest in Bryce) than just letting it languish. Unless they're just trying to force users into other, more expensive replacements.
Quote - DAZ essentially did release Bryce into the wild, as the program was free from DAZ for quite some time. But, release the code? Lol, nah, (I don't believe) that'll ever happen, DAZ paid decent enough money for Bryce from Corel. And, Bryce helps round out their free/cheap collection of software all of which (Especially Studio) helps sell their most profitable section, the meshes.
But, as I mentioned, my version of "releasing Bryce into the wild" would be having an SDK in which for users to create plugins. Any company would do that way before they would just post the program code. (I would think).

If DAZ is through with Bryce, why not release it into the wild and let the user base take over development work? I'm sure there are more than a few users with programming experience who could work out the existing bugs and add a few features to keep her going for a few more years. As for me, I'll stop using Bryce when they pry it from my cold, dead hands. ;-)

Your latest attempt looks great. And I agree, that foreground material really works. Wouldn't mind playing with that "weedy stuff" myself if you're inclined to share. ;-)
Thread: OT: Where is sackrat. | Forum: Bryce
His bio says that he was living in the Shenandoah Valley of VA. And no, it's not me. Sorry for jumping in and confusing folks.

I've gotten back into 3D after being away more or less for a few years. Never did unload Bryce, in fact kept it updated and bought 7pro. But yeah, seems a lot quieter around here than the "old days".
Andy Simmons. Now there's a Bryce artist I really miss.
Thread: OT - The Hobbit trailer | Forum: Bryce
I predict a whole new generation of Bryce fantasy art will be forthcoming this year as the movie's premier draws closer! We need another Andy Simmons. ;-)
