Thread: Supersuit Help from Rand | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Quote - > Quote - Any advice for those of us who may wish to try to convert this for use with the DSON Importer?
Â
Unfortuantely, I have to admit that I havent mucked around with the DSON stuff yet. Â I will be talking a look at it in a couple of weeks as I begin a more significant shift into the Poserverse.
The supersuit is based wholly on the genesis figure and there is really very little diference between it and Genesis itself... as a mesh. Â What makes it problematic is all the material zones.
Ill be looking into it for my own curiosity and Ill let you know. Â Hopefully it will be fully supported soon.
Thank you, Randall. I have started converting it to DSON, and so far it seems to be going well. Don't know how I'll handle texturing when I'm done, but we'll see. I'll come back here and share the results of my efforts.

Thread: OT - WTF? Disney are buying Lucasfilm / ILM, Star wars 7 to come....WHAT? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I love all this angsting. I heard the exact same things when Disney bought Marvel in 2009. Everything was just going to go to hell with Marvel, I heard. all the beloved characters were doooooooooommmmmmmmed!
Well, you know, except for Iron Man 2. And Thor. And Captain America. And The Avengers. And Iron Man 3. And Captain America: Winter Soldier. And Thor: The Dark World. And Avengers 2. And Guardians of the Galaxy...
One of the biggest problems with Star Wars movies was George Lucas and his writing/directing. There's a reason everyone makes fun of the "love story" in Attack of the Clones. Having Disney take over the franchise means other people have a chance to get in there.
Â
Exactly what I was thinking. Most think that Lucas screwed up SW long ago, so do you really think Disney could do worse? I always felt that Lucas took the story too seriously. It was an adventure story, and he began to see it as modern-day Shakespeare. That's why the dialogue was so bad and the acting so wooden at times. Turning lighthearted adventure into moody drama.

Quote - I live in Florida, work 10 hours per day (7:00 AM to 5:00 PM), and only go to work in the dark during DL Savings time. I come home at dusk sometimes on "Regular"...er I mean "Time" time. DL Savings Time just means Children standing at bus stops in the dark. It's nonsense.

Edited to ad "I'm always right about everything so it's pointless to argue with me".
Isn't that backwards? It gets light earlier in the morning and dark earlier in the evening during daylight savings time. In fact, I thought one reason that the old tradition has been continued here in the US was so that kids did not have to wait at the bus stop in the dark?
Thread: A question about Daz Studio 4's cr2 export ability | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Apparently Daz Studio can export a cr2 of the Genesis figure that includes comparable weightmaps. Can the Daz Studio 4 cr2 exporter export weightmaps for original figures that were rigged in Daz Studio?
Since it's called the "CR2 Exporter" rather than the "Genesis Exporter", I'm going to make a guess that yes, it should work. I'm not sure how useful that will be at this point, since it's not fully functional as of yet.
Thread: Ryan's been working out! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - > Quote - Agreed. Â Every base character in Poser since, what, version 5 at least, has had genitals. This thread isn't really about genitals, but about the muscle morphing capability of Ryan's OTHER extremities. Â
If Ryan's junk is what you want to see, might I suggest going over to Renderotica, and asking for a demonstration? Â It sounds as if the folks here rendering Ryan don't really care about his gens for their rendering purposes, even if you do, David.
Â
The last I heard, M4 doesn't, except as a seperate package that has to be bought from DAZ.
Which only shows your personal ignorance on the subject, which has nothing to do with the render. Personally, I'd have put some shorts on him because a) I don't want to see his "stuff" (that just doesn't appeal to me), and b) I don't really like the look of a male model nude without his "stuff" either.Â

Thread: Don't Understand the Big Attraction to Vicki 4.2 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't know why people think that just because something is popular and/or dominant in the market, that it's bad, ugly, or whatever. V4 isn't perfect. Windows isn't perfect. Neither are the alternatives to either, free or otherwise. Both dominate their markets because they were, and continue to be, the best all around product in their field. If people want to use alternatives, cool, but that doesn't make you hipper or smarter than anyone else, nor make your chosen product any better. I also don't understand the assertion that all V4 models look the same when she's the only model out there who has hundreds, if not thousands, of morph and texture options for her. The fact that people don't make the effort to change her much is NOT the model's fault, and the same problem would be true of any other model, IF they had the same number of options available, which they don't. I'd love to see other models get popular as well, but the V4 bashing is just petty, unfair, and unnecessary.
Thread: Why do I need Gamma | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't understand why it would ever be suggested that adding gamma correction in post would ever be more "flexible" or whatever. Flat out common sense tells you that the more information you have in your image in the initial render, the better it is to work with in post. I don't need to have mastered the intricacies of GC to recognize that.
Thread: Why do I need Gamma | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - > Quote - Can you produce some renders, Kawecki, with settings to substantiate your views?
Renders are subjective and anyone can manipulate to prove anything. For example, the renderings posted in the gallery using GC for me looks washed, dull and without life, but other people find them excellent.
But math are not subjective and t1^g + t2^g is not the same as (t1 + t2)^g where g is not 1.0
So you're saying that you're not only ignorant, but blind also?
Thread: Do you have a good example of light emitting objects? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Maybe play with the ambient values of the prop and the intensity of the point light, see if you can find a better balance between the two. The light looks a bit too "hot" to me right now.
Thread: Do you have a good example of light emitting objects? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Depending upon the effect you're after, I think sometimes you still might need to use a few well placed lights at low intensity to enhance the effect. Light emitting objects just don't cast enough light without making them too "hot".

Quote - Cool, thanks, BDDesign. How do you find our which forum they frequent? Or do you just post your issue and hope they come along and read it?
Their most likely than not going to be hanging around the Commons. You can go to the PM center and try to find them by name, or search the forums for their name, or of you just post a query in the Commons, either the vendor may see it, someone who knows the vendor might point them to your post or tell you how to contact them. It would be nicer if there was a contact system through the product pages, though.
Thread: Bad Magic Number | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - How did you manage to find a way to PM a vendor at Daz? I've sought in vain to find a link or something... good ON you! Need to go and have another look: is it somewhere on the vendor's page?
Also, if you find a post by a vendor, there's a PM button along the bottom edge immediately beneath each person's post.
Thread: Trying SSS and BBs Shader? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't know what you consider "looking too much like wax", but I'd say that this pick looks too much like wax, I'm afraid. I've gotten what I consider much less wax-like results with the shader. see attached.
