As far as I know Maya Personal Learning Edition is free.Thread: My Final Bryce Piece and a Goodbye! | Forum: Bryce
Well actually one of the main attractions for Cinema for me was the fact that I can render in a tiny fraction of the time Bryce takes and get a much better quality render to boot!

If I had to choose one for you to continue with I would pick the first. As for improvements first of all is the issue with the sky, at the moment it looks like the sky is just too large; the sky and background terrain covers 2/3 of the image before you get to the detail part. I have two suggestions for fixing this, either draw in a really fantastic sky in Photoshop or lower your POV closer to the ground so that the trees can help make up some of the difference. Speaking of the trees they look a bit too uniform now, I would make the size differences between trees more dramatic, the ones behind the horses in particular. The sense of depth is really well done though, I like how you can see other towns and structures in the background, maybe a better sky could help draw attention to these? Anyway good luck, post updates soon!

Glad you guys enjoyed it, just wondering what it takes to get a tutorial on the front page of Renderosity? I see a couple new ones there every few weeks.

Ooo, interesting style, I like it. Not sure exactly what this image needs just now, I think the composition is off and I think it could use a few more different objects but honestly I am not sure how the composition should be changed or what needs to be added. Stick with it though, from the looks of this I think the final image is very promising...

Ahh okay, what you need to do is triangulate your model. It means that the program does not support quads (squares, 4 vertices), and needs to have triangular polygons (triangles, 3 verticies).

I think you are confused as to what a vertex is. Unless it has another meaning that I am not aware of a vertex is a point on a mesh, or more in general a single point (corner) on any geometric figure, for instance a triangle has three verticies.

Thread: April challenge, just about finished, I think..but which? | Forum: Bryce
Yeah, I think eelie has a great idea of having a ray of sun shining on the shoes, it would help define the center of focus for this image.

Bottom one, if you can remove the sort of "ripple" from the sky. The sky in the top looks like it is badly stretched out, also maybe reduce the ambience in the shoes or find a different texture? They look too flat as it is now. Also in the water it looks like there is too much noise. Try reducing the frequency.
