Thread: Carrara Modeling Question... | Forum: Carrara
Hey all. Thanks for all the good advice. I'm going to try these, but may be a little confused about some of them.
When you say UV mapping in the vertex editor do you mean the texture room. Or is this something that I'm gonna have to play around with for a bit to figure out. (Like most applications)
Not sure what a folded plane is. Unless I'm folding it in the spline modeler. :) Can you explain?
Really, I'm not too amateurish at this. I have been with this program since it was Raydream Studio so feel free to give me all you got. I just have never worked my way into the vertex part of the program and just moved to Carrara about 8 months ago. ($$) Okay, so maybe a little amateurish compared to some of you, but I work alone and don't really have anyone to knock ideas back and forth with. Believe me, I'd love to know more about it. Just hard on my own, that's all.

Thread: Importing Raydream Shaders. Anyone know how? | Forum: Carrara
Yeah, I tried to open the actual models hoping the shaders would follow, but C6 doesn't import the textured shaders. Then I tried opening a new folder with all of my shaders in it through the shader browser. No shaders in that folder showed up at all. I noticed the shaders' extensions from RDS were .brw and C6 shader extensions are .cbr. So, I tried to change the extensions from .brw to .crb and that didn't work. The shader files actually showed up in the folder this time, but no textures. And before anyone asks, yes I had the tiffs that were imported for the shader in the folder. Guess I'm screwed unless anyone has any other ideas. Thanks for the thoughts already.
Thread: Need normal everyday clothes for M3... | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Thing is, I don't know how much I will use this program as I don't create many human form models and normally build my own custom (non-human) models in Carrara. Therefore, I don't want to go out and spend a bunch of money on something I might not use that much in the future like joining the monthly platinum club payments. I am really just looking for some model I can use for this one project whether it's free or I pay $10-$30 for it.

Thanks Lighthorse. Hopefully that will help with the folder structures, even though right now I am still confused, but I am still trying to find normal clothes. Not the fantasy ones that seem to be popular. Seems like you have to buy a different set of clothes just to get one item out of it to use. So I'll probably have to buy a set for the shirt, then a set for the jeans, a set for the shoes, and one more set just for the hair.
Kinda funny. The homepage of DAZ|Studio says: Why free? Because we know you will tell everyone. When it should say: Why free? Because we know you have to buy a ton of stuff from us in order to make it work. ;^)
Esther, what is this wardobe wizard?
Like I said before, I'm very knew at DAZ and am really confused with it. I don't necessarily have to find clothes just for M3. If there is another fully clothed male model out there that I can use, I'd be more than happy to use it.
Thanks so far all. Hopefully I can figure something out. Please feel free to elaborate more if you don't mind.
Thread: Simple Carrara Spin Animation Problem... | Forum: Carrara
Thanks! That, strangely enough, worked. I say strangely because, while I am on a Mac, I pressed "Return" and it did not work. However, when I pressed "Enter" it did work. I guess I figured they both did the same thing. Now to my other situation. I realize that I can set the background up to show my illustrated background and I appreciate that advice. However, I think my client wants to place my animation into something on there end for some reason. They love to make things more difficult for me. I don't know how they plan on doing this, but I think it's to save money on their end. I am definitely going to try and talk them into letting me do it, but until then, is it possible to extract the background from the animation. Thanks again! You guys are great.
