Most consider 2400 dpi to be the max resolution for a color 35mm negative. I think this is slightly low... about 3000 would be better. Most film scanners have optical resolutions of 2400 to 2800 dpi. Christine

I have not seen the comments refered to but I for one deplore their removal. Most of my pic's irritate someone/somehow and they don't hestitate to express their feelings. The purpose of any creative endeavor is to engage the viewer. Sure... I wish everyone rated my pic's a 5 but at least I evoke a response from most people and hopefuly I can learn from the negatives. In my estimation they are 100% USELESS in Poser and Bryce... marginal in Amorphium and INDESPENSIBLE for post production in Photo Shop (or other drawing application) I have a 4X5 Intous and the Wacom 4D mouse which may be personalized for PhotoShop. The 4X5 is to small for the mouse. I will probably buy a 6X8 in the next few months. Please be aware that a mouse and tablet complement each other. I use my mouse as much as I do the tablet. The major problem was and remains the head and hair. I am an exponent of a photomontage (more or less) approach using actual phtos composited onto the rendered Poser face during post production Check my web site at www.asan.com/users/sailnut for examples. Christine
Thread: "The Wanted One" Head any better? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I noticed that a critical comment was posted in the Gallery about the head. Here is how I did it..... What you saw is based on the rendered face of the Poser bimbo which in this instance is the famous Nene... scanned eyes, mouth, nose and hair are perfectly positioned, color matched and composited onto the lifeless facial rendering. It's really little different then composting the same parts onto a texture map except my approach is particular to the pose. This sort of thing is done in Kai's Goo and a couple of professional applications so nothing is new here except the very large size of source image. Remember I rendered the Poser bimbo to a height of 3,000 pixels and scanned the source photo at 600 dpi. This is MUCH larger then the texture maps being used here so the resolution of the eyes and othe features is much/much better then what can be done with a texture map.

Many people are critical of my pic's because I am compositing images of actual an female unto the Poser body. I am aware that the mechanics of this process can be evident and many find it unsettling. The alternative is the actual Poser head which even if subject to heavy morophing always betrays it's digital orign. It goes without saying that the hair issue remains to be resolved here regardless of how convincing the digital face may be. Given two imperfect options I have elected to continue with scans. I belive that the final image projects a certain "aliveness" which can not be obtained by other methods. Perhaps someone from the other camp would care to comment.

Re dual monitors. You can use seperate cards (AGP/PCI or PCI/PCI) to drive two different monitors. I believe there are advantages to this approach over using the dual head Matrox. Just check the Windows help file for instructions regarding this option. Christine

I have a 19 inch Hitachi monitor (the first 19 to be produced) It's entirely acceptable and I have little desire for a 21. However I would like to get a totaly flat screen. Sony has a hi-end 19 which is just wonderful!! Christine

Wacom's are far and away the best. Wacom has just released a new tablet 4X5 with stylus and cordless mouse. It costs about $100! I know nothing of it... however if it's a Wacom it's probably OK! Christine

Can be done post production with the KPT-5 Shape Shifter filter. Although it can be done in Bryce it's a real pain because the reflective texture becomes to "busy" from a multitude of enviromental reflections. Christine

Get the Wacom Intous I have the small one (4X5)and its perfect for PhotoShop. They just updated their drivers so that the cordless mouse (about $60) works properly... at last. An outstanding product (it's my third tablet) Christine

I have a message (my second one)in the "No Politics no penisis" thread below urging EVERYBODY here on Renderosity to recognize that NOW is the time to make THIS the Poser site of choice. I urge you to read it and act accordingly. Christine

Let's get it straight.... I could care less about what she allows or rejects. That said, it's obvious that there is a major shift in focus over at "Poser Forum Online". Clearly the intention over there is to promote technical discussion and host commercialy acceptable art work. Is Willow going commericial? It goes without saying that by default, Renderosity will become the site of choice for many like myself whose images are controversal or unacceptable inthe alternative venue. I think that reality should be publicly stated and discussed. I there-for I join with Leee in asking that we avoid the tired issue of censorship in favor of considering the more postive view I have laid out above. Christine
