This is a little utility that really helps with morphs that exceed the character limits on the Mac OS. It's called unzipper, and it saves the PC name in the comments if the name of the .obj file is too long--it allows you to rename certain files so they make sense instead of dealing with trunced names that are followed by numbers. The utility is called unzipperThread: Jersey Textures? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yeah--use the female sweater CR2 and make the forearms invisible. All you need to do then is get a good flat picture of the front and back (or scan the actual shirt) and do some cut and paste work on the template.

Warrior--Is Polyette different than Polly? I like the regrouping for the Eve and Victoria bodies, but there are more clothes available for Victoria than there are for Eve. (I also think the way Zygote designed Victoria's body is incredible--especially in the way she takes the rescaling of body parts, very flexible in that aspect). I also like the P4 head (it just seems more generic and easier to shape without retaining certain facial charactaristics like the Vicky head) . Polly seems to be the Vicky head with the P4 body, which is kind of the opposite of what I was looking for. P.S. Moving the Vicky head to the Michael body was a fantastic idea. Considering that Victoria was all we had to work with for the months preceding Michael--Paul is a brilliant addition.

By the way--is there a version of Victoria with the P4 head? Given the lack of clothing for Eve, and the surplus of MTs for the P4 and P3 head, this seems like a worthwhile project if someone hasn't done it yet.

I strongly suggest that folks take a look at Frederic's Joint Parameter fixes for the knees and elbows in Free Stuff. Download the file (.pz3) and examine the thighs, calves, and shoulders (not collars) with the joint parameter window open and make the same adjustments to your P4 figures. In fact, the symmetry command takes the burden of copying the JP settings to the other side of your model, so you only have to change the settings to those three body parts for the left side, and let the symmetry command do the right side for you. [Frederic's model only comes in P3 format. They are the same JP adjustments that Yamato made to her Nene character]

Tim--It's pretty standard software licencing stuff for any commercial product. I'm surprised you haven't run into problems before, using more than one program licenced to the same name with the same serial on the same network. I would assume that most software companies don't plan on a single person running multiple copies of the same software at home. Considering that there is multi-user licensing available, it would be a huge waste of resources to make specific licensing available on a case by case basis.
Thread: Can anyone convert an Infini-d file? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Carrara is the BEST option for Infini-D exports since it's basically a hybrid of Ray Dream and Infini-D--and it allows you to directly export an Infini-D file as an OBJ or 3DS file without messing with DFX at all. Being basically a 2D artist--I liked the ability to trace objects in Illustrator and FreeHand and import them into Infini-D. Carrara is an incredibly fantastic solution to getting my Infini-D files into Poser.

"Having to make excuses to clients because of the limitations of my software isn't really an acceptable option for the type of work that I do"
So STOP MAKING EXCUSES. All a customer is interested in is the FINAL product. No one cares whose fault it is, if it isn't up to specs, then it's unacceptable.
"When I show my work to people, sometimes they make comments about the figures or objects not looking real. Well, my answer to that is this; It can be very time-consuming and expensive to get texture and volumetric maps that fit on models-especially human/organic models that look realistic."
One word: Post-production!!!
"but for now I have to be content with my images the way they are"
Again...post-production. Making excuses does absolutely nothing to make the image any better
"Keep in mind that when someone is forced to use a lower-level graphics program i.e., under $1000 US dollars, the default models are pretty well going to look like shiny plastic to start with"
Why should I keep that in mind when I'm buying a T-shirt? I'm interested in the FINAL product, not your love-hate relationship with your tools. Why would any skilled person use the WRONG tools to develop a product. Blaming the tools is extremely unprofessional.
"Until I am able to afford higher-end programs or utilities for the skins, the models are simply going to look very much like toys."
So why should I buy your product now--why shouldn't I wait until the models in your image look less toylike?
"So before you criticize too harshly, just remember that trying to make something on a computer that looks "live" can be a very complicated endeavor"
But...it can be done, and it can be done WELL! If YOU want the credit for a particular piece of art, then YOU need to take responsibility for it; instead of putting the burden on the critics or the software companies.
"and those of us who don't have deep pockets have a harder time getting our "toys" to look good."
Okay--now the blame shifts to financial limitations. If you're trying to sell yourself as a professional artist, then you'd better be prepared for the business expenses (or the time required to clean up the images)
"Just thought you could use that information"
As a potential client--that disclaimer should save me a LOT of major headaches.

A wishlist is nice, but don't forget the manhours required to make everything happen. Will Wright dreamed up the basic concept for "The Sims" several years ago, but it hasn't been til recently that the technology developed to a point where the game could be a reality. No man or small team can do it all.

Zal Considering the price of artists' mannequins and live models; as an art tool designed for capturing poses, Poser is (and was, at $99 for the original Poser 1) an incredible bargain. At this point in development, the ability to import props, scenes, textures and morphs (as with the ability to animate, and apply transparencies to those objects) makes it an amazingly flexible piece of software. I get the impression that a lot of people want the software to do EVERYTHING. Should you really expect Poser to do much more than a pencil or paintbrush if you don't spend the time mastering the tools. My only item for a Poser 5 wishlist is the ability to use 3rd party plug-ins for those users who don't want to bother reading the manual or browsing the forums for existing answers to common problems (joints, eyes, etc. have been covered in these forums--with several excellent alternatives and workarounds for the problems you mentioned in your earlier posts). Keeping Poser flexible and inexpensive is my most major concern. I've always been curious about the logic of folks who keep comparing Poser with Bryce. From an artist's point of view, it strikes me that capturing the human form is MUCH more complicated than capturing a landscape.
