A lot of Blender's functions seem to be dependent on the presence of "Empty's". Maybe this is one of them :)

Probably because your actual saved content is in C:/Users/"Your Name"/Documents/Poser Pro 2014 Content/Runtime/Libraries.

I would also like to not get upwards of 4 or 5 ad emails a day from the same site. It's ridiculous and unnecessary. If ya can't condense your emails to include everything you wanna say in one day, don't send it. Other sites send me one ad email a WEEK (which I think is more than sufficient).
Back to Glitter's problem. I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in on the subject of "excessive" ;)

Well, why not use Inkscape? It does vector graphics natively, does most everything Adobe Illustrator can do and best of all, it's free. Also has tutorials aplenty on YouTube :). Oh - and it's in current development, not an abandoned program.
Have a look at the features and decide if it's something you might want.

You can scale them up. Scaling them does not change their light properties, it only changes the light preview.

I have a 3gig DDR5 GeForce 650 Ti Boost that runs Cycles really well (so I'm assuming it'll run Luxrender if you use the gpu option). It wasn't very expensive either.
