Purging abusers of all things good from the earth would be nice, eh? But I guess thats not very feasible, is it? We can only hope that they all drop from the face of the earth, or become inexplicably computer illiterate or something.....I know, I'm dreaming! But it keeps one's spirits up to keep firmly in mind that all things are possible! :-)

Thread: New Provisions for Renderosity's Freestuff--Please Read!-- | Forum: Freestuff
Matrix, although I see your point and also agree on most aspects of your argument, some points just aren't logical! Although the rosity team COULD notify all current abusers as you have recommended, it still doesn't put a stop to new user/abusers! Rosity would have to wait for them to abuse before they could be notified to stop said actions, creating an endless and useless process of repeatedly notifying people to stop abusing the system. (Take into account that repeated abusers are probably by nature not very honest ppl, and therefore probably don't care about the wrongness of their actions!) Also, using such a system allows too many loopholes for the abusers to use to get around the admins! So, rosity would be forced to overwork themselves in and endless endeavor to be overly forgiving! Yes, I admit that it is not fair that the regular (and honest) users of such systems should be punished for what others are doing, but that is how life works...if you allow dishonest ppl a way to be dishonest, they will simply follow their nature! But with this new system, it will EFFECTIVELY stop the abusers! Rosity's other option, of course, would be to put an end to the freestuff section, which I am sure that none of us would want to see happen! Again I will point out that I DO agree with you that it is not fair, I would say to give the new system a try and be glad that the system is still there for us to enjoy, albeit with a few limitations! Just my two cents, hope you take it into consideration!

Thread: How do i transfer poser figures into photoshop cs2? | Forum: Photoshop
I don't know how different cs2 is from v7, but this is what I do using PS7 and Poser 4.03 Render as large as Poser will allow you to at 300dpi resolution (in a seperate window, if that isn't obvious) and then save the render as a .tiff file! Then just open the file in PS and you have a channeled, high res Poser render to work with! By the way, when you save as tiff, make sure you choose uncompressed! Hope this helps! Thread: Photoshop and Smudge | Forum: Photoshop
Just cruising the forums and thought I'd pitch in my 2 cents! I use Photoshop 7, and when I upgraded my puter from a slow Pentium Celeron with 384mb memory to an Athlon 2.08g with 512mb memory, I noticed an amazing difference with my overall puter speed! However, I noticed that working long hours in PS would drastically eat my ram and alot of smudging would eat even more than just painting! Also, jumping up to a 128meg dedicated nVidia from an integrated 64meg sped up the smudge's processing time, but I still have the problem now and again! As thundering1 mentioned, its a very complex process! Solutions would be to have a fast video card, don't rely on an integrated, more ram is MUCH merrier, and I would suggest an Athlon processor as they run less gigs yet at the same time process much faster than their Pentium twins! Hope this helps, and if not, just ignore me! :) "I cannot escape from myself, I am never alone!" Cheers, Jesse!

Thread: Opinions requested on Gallery Content | Forum: Photography
Dunno, mebbe I am just biased, as think more along the lines of the end-result and less about how it was accomplished (to a certain extent) so thats just my thing! Also, being a Photoshop junky doesn't help matters any for me as far as the "No Postwork" stuff, but like I said, thats just me! Everyone has their own opinions, so hopefully the matter can be resolved with little trouble, and even less angry ppl! Cheers

Thread: Opinions requested on Gallery Content | Forum: Photography
Although not a photographer myself, my mom is into it, and I have been trying to get her into digital photography as well, as a means of merely complementing her already present arsenal! Trying to show her the benifits of Photoshop as a way of fixing bad lighting situations and such, and she has experimented with watercolor markers on b&w photos, which would be much easier and cleaner in PS! As far as your guidelines go, I think that doing such photo manipulation falls loosely into the category of film development, which is part of traditional photography and therefore acceptable! However, I do agree that it would be nice for ppl to actually know that such images WERE manipulated in this and that way! As I said, since I am not a photographer this doesn't really directly concern me, but I thought that I would state my opinion on the matter, as I still frequently hit the photography gallery from time to time, and love seeing ALL the images, whether they have any type of postwork or not! I would hate to have to dig around several separate galleries just for a quick perusal of "general" photography! "I cannot escape from myself, I am never alone!" Cheers, Jesse

Thread: Is anyone interested in my texture for Koz hair? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Although I don't use Poser hair, I think it looks very good...it has a wet-looking quality to it, and looks more realistic than many other similar textures I've seen! Well done darlin! "I cannot escape from myself, I am never alone!" Cheers, Jesse

Thread: I need help making armor look more 3 dimensional in PS7! Please help! | Forum: Photoshop
Tried all of these suggestions, but it just did not turn out quite like what I had in mind! I have decided to give up on the contest that this was to be an entry for, and perhaps I will just have to wait till I have a graphics tablet and do this by hand! Just the same, thanks to all of you for your suggestions......they were all better than anything I had come up with! It just didn't work the way I wanted, and I am a bit of a perfectionist with my art (aren't we all?)! Cheers

To hoofdcommissaris: to call filters cheating relies greatly on the point of view. To term cheating, you are simply making things easier for yourself. Correct? So wouldn't you consider using the smudge tool or the dodge and blur tools in Photoshop, when you draw hair and clothing perhaps, be considered.......cheating? It is certainly easier than just using nothing but the airbrush (although it still takes lots of practice to perfect). Just like the filters, you must have a good knowledge ot the tool to use it PROPERLY! I will admit that I cannot use filters beyond the blur properly to save my life. How is it cheating if I don't know how to use them? Also, another thing to ponder. Some people consider some of the simplest works throughout history to be true masterpieces, when some of the most complex works are hardly recognized. As I said- point of view! But I do agree that people should not be left in the dark about how the artist achieves whatever look is in question. Let the viewer decide whether they think it cheating or not. Whether something is good or not, cheating or not, talented or not, pleasing or not, is all a point of view!! We can't go setting rules for creativity, now can we?! It is not a sport, but a passion: ...no matter how we achieve it!! Cheers, Dall
