Thread: Idea for a normal hair for Genesis 3 or 8? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I like the Heather Hair for Genesis 8 Female, that's sold over at Daz. Since I make a lot of ancient world stuff, I need hairs that look more natural. Mada Hair is also a good one, as are the various casual ponytail styles (can't remember the names off-hand, sorry.)
Thread: Black circles inside eyes | Forum: DAZ|Studio
There was a thread about this awhile back on the Daz forums. Apparently toggling the Instancing Optimization between Speed and Memory solved it.

Thread: To dforce which need Navidia card? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
The first screen means that the program does not see anything in the scene that has a dForce property. If you buy something that says it is dForce, it will come with the dForce property in it. For things that don't have the dForce property, you can apply it yourself, but it may not work.
The second screen means that the part of Daz Studio that does dForce has not yet been made ready to work with your video card. Just click 'yes' and the program will configure itself to work with your video card. This is normal and the way the program is designed to work.

Thread: How rig clothing for G8? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I've seen that happen when trying to use the weight map brush fix polygon stretching. Personally, I've never been able get that approach to work. To minimize underarm distortions I try to make sure there are a similar number of polys in the clothing underarm, and they're positioned as closely as possible to the figure so the transfer utility rigs them properly.

per the article, exporting at 300 ppi is considered industry standard.
Thread: Parenting Strand Based Hair | Forum: DAZ|Studio
The scene hierarchy winds up looking messy because each hair instance winds up with its own icon. It helps to give each hair a distinct name when you create it. then you can tell which hair belongs to which item. And if you decide to delete the item from the scene later, you have to delete the hair separately.
Thread: Parenting Strand Based Hair | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I'm using strand based hair to make fur clothing on my Neolithic outfits. I use dForce to drape the clothing, and when strand based hair is created on the clothing surface it will move with the dForce enabled surface, but the hair itself will not move. There is a way to apply dForce to the strand based hair itself, but Daz only makes that functionality available to PAs who sell in the Daz marketplace.
As far as the hair moving when the object moves, the trick is to NOT parent it to figure surface, just create it it on the figure surface. In the case of a clothing item, if you load the clothing item with SBHair into the scene, then fit it to the target figure, then it will move with the figure and stay attached. If you do the usual click-to-fit on the clothing, then that breaks the association between the surface and the hair. It's weird, but maybe Daz will fix it in a future release.
Hope this helps.
Thread: How to upload a product for sale | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Once you're registered as a vendor, you'll have a 'Vendor Controls' option in your user menu. From that page, under 'items', you'll see the option 'Upload a Product'. That is where you have to enter all the information about your product, upload the promotional images, set pricing, and all that. Once that is complete, a button to upload the files will appear at the bottom of that page. Then you can upload the files for testing.
Thread: WIP - dForce Neolithic for Genesis 8 Female | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase

I think it looks great. I want to pick it up sometime soon. How much does the fur affect render times out of interest?
It depends on the image size, number of scene lights, etc. (the usual stuff) but it will increase render times. In my testing, single figure with the shawl, long skirt, and boots, HDR lighting and image size 2000x1600; using leather only clothing completed in a bit under 3 minutes, while with the hair took about 17.5 minutes. This was with a GTX1070 8gig VRAM, iray.
