i renamed all my addons. there weren't many, i don't use them so there were only the default ones that came with the program. that hasn't solved the problem.

i'm not sure how to do the other thing, where i make a new runtime and put addons into it. i'm confused because i'm not using p11 anymore, just the p12. i have pp2012, pp2010 installed as well. i renamed the python addons in all their myriad of folders. but which one would i make the runtime for or whatever? in order to do what you suggest, structure, which addons from which install do i move to a new runtime? and this new runtime goes into the p11 folder even though i don't use p11 anymore?

fyi, the error remains. wait til i capture the randomly appearing xml issue! i'll share that one here too. what fun!

alright i had to do some lengthy searching to find all instances of Reality and remove them. that took care of part of the pop up. can anyone tell me what this other part is about and how to stop it?

thanks much, giving that a try. if it fixes it, i'll be coming back with an XML error that keeps coming back that i would also love to get rid of bats lashes tee hee?

I waited a while in case anyone with a real answer came forward first, since they didn't here are a couple of suggestions. As far as I remember many lululee products need a python plugin to work, I think it's called supershaders or something. (If you go to the product page here it should tell you exactly what it is, or look in the product readme.) This used to be free at RDNA, think it was transferred to DAZ. Have you installed this? Not sure why the sexyskins would work on some v4's and not others, if you haven't installed but who knows. Was your v4 bikini default scene originally created with your poser 9? I'm wondering if it brings something into the scene that is needed but missing when you open a new scene in p11

The little spinning wheel often comes up when poser is looking for a file. Depending on your settings and size of runtimes it can take a long time for poser to either find it or give up. Try setting the search to shallow or off in general preference (edit menu, general preferences, library) Then if poser can't find a file it needs you will get the search window appear much quicker to give you a clue what's wrong.

Another spinning wheel problem I've had in the past is when for some reason poser has problems opening a pop up window to report a problem, this could be related to the supershader issue.

thank you for responding. no, the bikini v4 is one i made, as in i deleted that dummy one that came with poser, popped in v4.2 i think, loaded up all her INJs, then saved it as my preferred state for when poser opens. i know now that i can just click New and have her come up for a new document window, then import whatever figure i want to have using the secondskin texture, apply it, delete the v4 and save the newly painted on character to be imported into a previous scene at a later date. so i don't think it's the figure. it has to be something with that default setting though. i do not have the fading background or default lights on my preferred state. i just can't think of what it could be and i honestly don't know where to look to compare.

basically i have a work-around but i'd rather not have to do all that. i know the shaders you're talking about. i'[ll see what her page says.

**also, they don't seem to be available at daz either. i've got some script in my poser menus already, with the info Shaderworks>Advanced Shaders> and then some more options. i am really not sure what to do next with a script. does it play itself, do i need to click something?

i am using Poser Pro 11, on a windows 10 system. i have read through all sixteen crazy and amazingly helpful posts on this thread... (you guys are awesome for sharing your knowledge, my gods, the things i learned just skimming - !)

i'm a fan of lululee, merchant here with sexy 2nd skins. same with Darkworld's lovely skins. but i can't get them to work in my setup. i made sure i have the latest download manager from smith micro, restarted computer as suggested, then loaded up poser. i have it so a default bikini-clad fully injected V4 comes up when i start my program. i tried to put lululee's denim corset on her and hurrah, that worked...but then i opened up a custom character based off of FRAD Macha from rosity here, and it won't take the corset. nothing happens except the 'busy' cursor/mouse icon. i have my girl selected. she's completely nude. in the preview pane, no corset. in the render, no corset. i had this problem a version or two ago and i would actually have to load up Poser 9, put the second skin on, save, then load it in whatever the poser was that i was using and then render it and it would work. but i don't have a second poser program installed right now and frankly i don't want one. i want to figure this out. i know there's a fix. some little thing i'm doing wrong. i've tried a few python scripts. lots of the links in the previous posts here are outdated and broken (i miss RDNA, so much...) it doesn't make sense. a mostly nude untextured V4.2 or whatever takes the 2nd skin corset - but my lovely avatar does not?

also - i tried an experiment just now. opened a New document so that the bikini vicky came in, then i imported MY girl into the same scene. and the corset loads onto her - what the fel?? what is off in my settings or whatever? i really haven't fooled around a lot so i don't think i did some wacky thing while messing about. i tend to point and click.

experience wise, i am completely ignorant about nodes, doing more than changing colours of materials, the math stuff in this program, etc. i just make things look as purty as i can, so go gently with advice =/

old thread, i know. but i was suddenly having this issue in pp11. i turned off displacement maps in the firefly manual render settings. boom, white spots gone. thank you!! appreciate the help you guys give, even if it was six years ago XD <3

Base{6c283bf5-1a58-a5b0-56fc-90086d1b2769}.pmd is another file it's looking for boggles i know i'll find it by searching but i'm wondering why it is able to open some of my default items/files but not others.

edit i was wrong, can't find that one on my drives! XD

for example, when i load up a saved male character, it looks for blMilMan_m4b.obj. it'll load up the custom 'parts' ahem that i used on him. but it wants to find that particular file there. is it going to do that every time? can i search it up and direct it once and it'll work or?

mm i do not. hm. i applied the non SSS texture and the item worked fine. but of course, it's not SSS right, and i did want the SSS. i guess i need this script thing!

not that i'm aware. but any time i've tried using it, i've had to do my tedious work-around.

so, what would i change in the nodes? make it plug into the diffuse color input or? i'll try anything. can't really break it!!

it's something to do with the SSS option. i installed lululee's update from 2016, that includes an SSS version of her textures. but that didn't work.

i went to the girl's texture library, and chose her non SSS skin/mat files. and then did the lingerie and it worked. but i still would like help getting a fix for the SSS.

i found the answer in another thread and tried it, and that works much better. it's not ideal, but it's a work around, right?

instead of using the 'marketplace' search - what you would expect the search options on the marketplace page to be referred to (ie. the Marketplace pulldown, the dialogue/text box next to it saying Title, etc.) - use the search at the TOP of the page.

it's the one that appears on every page and actually has the words "Search Marketplace" in it.

for me, i'm looking for M4 characters. i typed in M4 up there, and actually got a special page for my search optionis. on the left of it, there were all sorts of great options. one of them is Michael 4. another one is Characters.

i got to this page once when i spoke with a store admin at the first reshuffling of things. it's not easy to get to when you kind of expect the marketplace search to be the search you do when you click on the marketplace.

but if you just remember to ignore that stuff, and use the common site search at the top of every page, should be golden!

sorry if this has been repeated already elsewhere. i'm excited i found a solution. it was getting really frustrating! now, back to shopping!
