Don't take me wrong.
I am more a craftsman, a creator of 3D models than an actual artist and I post renderings very rarely but if Renderosity gives points to members posting every day similar images of average quality, it does not bother me.
If points were a limited resource, it would be reasonable to give higher rewards to people who put more effort in the making.
The same should be done with real currency (this is why a surgeon is paid more than a dishwasher, skills have a value).
But render points are a tool to promote participation and encourage members to be active.
And even beginners and amateurs are welcome.
When I update a detailed 3D freebie (typically the modeling takes me 100-200 hours) I get the same amount of points of someone who posted photos of a wall but it's ok because I don't post the free item to get a prize but because I like to share and to see my models used by artists.
Of course, when / if I work on commission I ask for a reasonable price.
A high poly 3D building with intricated detail and furniture cannot be paid like a low poly 3D coffee cup.
But freebies are a gift to the community.
So I appreciate everyone sharing his/her content, even the pictures of a chair or a fractal.
Only my two cents.
Thread: Few questions for members of the community who once used to make 3d art. | Forum: The Break Room
4)When you started using AI you were using Poser / DAZ / other 3D applications for:
A)More than 10 years.
B)5-10 years.
C)1-5 years.
D)Less than 1 year.
5)Do you have 3d modeling skills?
A)Professional (advanced 3d modeling with applications like Blender, 3dsmax, Maya or other).
B)Hobbyist (intermediateย 3d modelingย / beginner learning and following tutorials).
C)Basic (creating simple scenes with props and primitives).
D)No skills.
6)If you are a beginner (B - C of previous question): did AI affect your will to learn 3D modeling and/or to improve your skills?
A)No, at all... I am still willing to learn and improve my skills with 3D like before.
B)Currently I am slightly less willing to learn and improve my skills with 3D but in the future could find again the will.
C)I am a lot less willing to learn and improve, because AI mostly replaced 3D in my pipeline.
D)I am no longer willing, AI totally replaced 3D in my pipeline.

I don't want to limit your creativity.
With "very violent" I mean something graphic, not a generic horror / Halloween image allowed by 3D art sites or a fighting / battle.
And with "pornographic" I don't mean a sexy or naked pinup, but very explicit content.
Aboutย Ted Bundy, he used a white / yellow Volkswagen Beetle (I made a free model of it).
If you want to create an historical image or educational 3d video showing him you can do it.
What I would find not acceptable would be a game where you impersonate him / root for him.
Ask to yourself ("Would I be allowed to post this on Renderosity gallery?").
If you have a doubt or you are afraid to be in the "grey zone", contact me with a PM and I will be glad to help and explain.

Thank you for listening to our feedback.Just wanted to pop in there to say that in order to address gallery flooding we now only allow 8 items a day to be uploaded. You can upload several images per item. Each item is now 10 Render Rewards Points rather than 3.ย
@RodS: I guess we put the dead horse to rest or revived it? I'm not sure but thank you for your suggestions.
Items containing several pictures are very useful, mini-galleries... I have used one about one year ago.

Perfect for AI generated pictures too... with one item you can showcase many variants of the same prompt.
"Full body portrait of Scarlett Johansson wearing Star Trek star fleet uniform and eating pizza in a space station".
Thread: a bunch of spambots in the gallery! | Forum: Community Center
Partially off-topic, but I'd like to share a thought.
What really saddens me is that some of the members flooding the gallery with AI generated pictures are NOT spammers or spambots who joined a week ago.
Until recent times they used to be 3D artists; the older pages of their galleries are full of DAZ and Poser artworks, often decently done.
Then in late 2022 or 2023 they jumped on the AI bandwagon and they are not producing anymore 3D art.
It's starting to look like the Borg assimilation or theย Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
I too downloaded StableDiffusion on my PC and I made some experiments but I would never post pictures produced typing a prompt on art sites.
Thread: a bunch of spambots in the gallery! | Forum: Community Center
Recently I have reported a spammer / spambot who advertised some kind of "services" (data management, search engine optimization, whatever).
He / it posted 5 times in a row the same exact cheap video in the main gallery.
Moderators removed it quickly (within a couple of hours) but I have the feeling that thanks to the flood of AI pictures some spammers started perceiving Renderosity as a place where they can post their "content". Eventually they will become more daring.
While I am not totally against the use of AI for some specific tasks (concept, backgrounds, memes) I agree with A_Sunbeam.
It should be confined to a specific gallery.

And like Rods and many others already stated, Renderosity should (re)introduce a limit on daily posts.Perhaps there should be a gallery for AI alone, and no AI allowed in the main gallery - "Creative" versus "Machine"? I quite like some of the AI work, but it's beginning to swamp the human-produced work.
It's not acceptable too see an image produced by a real artist with many hours of work and creativity buried between dozens of low effort (and often low quality... exceptions are rare) AI generated pictures.
There are already sites dedicated to that kind of stuff, like Lexica.
Thread: Retiring Products? | Forum: Community Center
I agree... it's sad to see some old good products being retired and going away forever.
Eventually I will release as freebies here on Renderosity some products I created years ago.
I used to sell them in my site, now they look slightly dated, especially materials and textures, and today probably I would create more realistic and detailed meshes (10-12 years ago was not recommended to use too many polygons) but someone could still use and enjoy them.
Sharing them with people is a better option than abandoning them "forgotten and dusty" in my Runtime.
Thread: A Couple Questions.. | Forum: Community Center
I am very late to the party but I'd like to share my thoughts.
I started lurking Renderosity gallery as guest in 2002 and I became a member in 2007.
I am no longer active as I used to be until 2014-2015 but I still log at least twice a month and once in a while I upload a freebie.
Many smaller forums unfortunately are gone but this place is still a community and the admins are trying to keep it alive.
And it's the home of Poser, one of my favorite tools, together with 3dsMax.
I was very glad when the owners of Renderosity purchased it from Smith Micro and saved it from stagnation or death.
They are actively developing it (Poser 13 will come soon) and listening to our requests and feedback.ย We still have an alternative to DAZ.
About the site... the growing flood of low effort AI generated "art" is concerning, of course.
I wonder if some of that stuff (including the occasional very explicit picture, quickly removed*)ย is posted by spammers or bots.
I am not an hater of AI in general (as tool has some interesting potential), but I totally understand the complaints made by many artists.
It's very unpleasant to know that someone will use your creations to generate AI "art" (often NSFW) without your consent,
Probably a daily limit of 3 or 5 pictures for user could improve the overall quality of gallery content.
One word about freebies. Don't take me wrong.
I never judge a free item from its complexity o with an "elitist" attitude.
A gift is a gift.
Anyway... a lower daily limit could be useful in that section as well.
People who wants to share photos of walls, fractals or AI generated textures could group them (a 20 pics pack instead of 20 pics).
Image flooding apart, there are other problems as well.
I noticed that very few 3d modelers are actively posting in the galleries.
In late 2000s and early 2010s the site was full of character creators, architects, car designers.
I have no simple solutions to offer, just an idea.
Maybe 3D modeling contests could bring back some of them?
Thanks for your attention, Good day to everyone!
P.S.
Renderosity, thanks to moderators, is still a relatively safe harbor.

Renderosity is dead... Flickrosity is born... and - sorry if I am blunt - I don't like it.
Another (once) beautiful site killed by this insane smartphone-frenzy. It's likely that many of the old members (PC users) will leave.
Goodbye and good luck with the new & future members belonging to the crowd that enjoys to tap all the day those tiny 3" x 3" screens.
