Subject: Commercial use of freebie

A site member asked me about commercial use.

3D)

With non-commercial I mean that you cannot resell the model, as standalone or part of a package.
For example, if you create a 3D videogame with Unreal or Unity and you sell it on Steam including a car model made by me in the assets. That's not allowed because I intended to model to be free.

I allow to use it in FREE games and projects; already happened actually; some people included my Manor, Liberty Statue or the Arcadia spaceship in noncommercial games or for educational purposes, like a graduation / PhD dissertation.

If you have a "tip" / buymeacoffee / free offer button (NOT mandatory payment), you CAN include the model.

Some indie game creators on Itch io allow you to download a game for free but you can give them a tip.
That's ok because you are not demanding to be paid.

If you want to use in a 2D image, video and someone pays you, you can do it, because what you are selling is your artwork (posing, lighting).

Exception 1...
Not an image set (PNG or other) showing only the car from different points of view.
Would be unfair to people (not to me) making them buy a 2d prop of a 3d free model.
If you include a character, background, another car, creating an original artwork... ok.

Just remember to give credits.

Exception 2...

I allow you to use my free model when you create a game with Ren'Pi or some similar software, where you produced graphics using DAZ or Poser scenes.

BUT the use in very explicit / pornographic / very violent games is frowned upon by me.

I am not judging you and I don't like censorship, but I would not glad to see a car model used by someone as vehicle owned by a Ted-Bundyesque maniac to kidnap girls.

I don't want to limit your creativity.

With "very violent" I mean something graphic, not a generic horror / Halloween image allowed by 3D art sites or a fighting / battle.
And with "pornographic" I don't mean a sexy or naked pinup, but very explicit content.

About Ted Bundy, he used a white / yellow Volkswagen Beetle (I made a free model of it).
If you want to create an historical image or educational 3d video showing him you can do it.
What I would find not acceptable would be a game where you impersonate him / root for him.

Ask to yourself ("Would I be allowed to post this on Renderosity gallery?").

If you have a doubt or you are afraid to be in the "grey zone", contact me with a PM and I will be glad to help and explain.
