Thread: Toolbar- Look forward to this.. | Forum: Blender
Eh? I thought I posted this, but it's gone? Ok, well I just copy and paste it again, good thing I like to use notepad for posts, sometimes I just don't trust the way this site works.
Keep it civil? I was only joking, sorry if I offended anyone.
The RTFM thing is an old joke btw.
Where is it? Don't say it's on the Blender pages!

(Don't use the link from within the Blender program for the html guide, for some reason the link is wrong, it points to an outdated revision of the html, and it only points to the first part I think, not parts 1 AND 2. The Part 2 Reference is just as important as part 1, if not more. They probably forgot to update the links in the Blender program.)

"As a merchant paying 50% commission on sales, I'm complaining alright! Moving around these forums has become a real drudge." Oh, you pay commission? Really? And 50%? WTF? That's a ripoff...

Nicholas86, I was mainly referring to FranOnTheEdge and Silgrin. I just can't help but chuckle everytime I read replies from those two (in various threads here) when they are griping and whatnot about the user interface and whatnot. Sure, something might seem odd with a particular function out of place or whatever, but give Blender a break, it's still in it's teens in some areas. And shut up already about C4D and whatever other 3D programs lol, I mean seriously, no one cares, this is the Blender forum. It's NOT THAT hard. Use your brain. Read The F****** Manual (RTFM), read the release logs in the download section on Blender3D's site, and look at the tutorials and videos on Blender3D's site (there's links in Blender's help menu, sheesh...)
Anyway, as for the topic, anything that improves the productivity rate is a good thing, so don't get me wrong, I am too looking forward to this toolbar thing. It looks mighty interesting. I also read something that this toolbar is just a first step to building on Blender's already good customization features, like more UI stuff and custom hotkey bindings and other goodies I think. I forgot where I read it, I think in the latest Blender Developement Digest forum thread on the cgtalk.com forums.
I still prefer hotkeys though over anything, because they rule! lol

Sorry for the double post...but gawd....this here site be dang slow! lol Using the search function in the galleries is a nightmare, literally.
What database backend does this site run on? ASP/sql? PHP/mysql? Something else? If it's ASP, there's your answer to the slowness, lol. I keep hearing asp is slow on high volume sites (go Microsoft! not...)
Maybe the site needs an upgrade or something, like bandwidth, new computers, or a new host or something. Maybe the web site itself, the forum code used on the site looks kinda out-dated too, how about upgrading to something like UBB, or Invision Power Board, or the free and excellent PHPBB? Because I've always experienced general site slowness, but lately it is horrible.
Look, I'm not complaining, I know the site is free and stuff, I'm just sharing info in hopes that it could be of some use to help solve this problem, and yes it is a problem, because the slowness might deter visitors to the site from becoming new regular visitors, and might even make some people leave for greener pastures.

Haha, Noobs... "pressing spacebar does bring up menus so whats there to moan about?" You forgot my favorites, the edit mode's W and K hotkey menus, those are also really usefull, as well as the just typing in a precise value/axis select hotkeys instead of using the mouse when you're doing a transform function.

Thread: GMAX TO BLENDER | Forum: Blender
You'll have to excuse my above post, I'm just tired of all the "Blender vs so and so app is better" discussion that I been reading around the web lately. I thought this was another one of them. I come to the Blender forum to read about Blender, not to read about GMAX, C4D, or Wings 3D, or else I would be in those forums, because it is really annoying, saddening even, when I hear about how Blender just got it's own forum on here, and we're trying to get it's own gallery up, yet when I come in here I see discussion about other 3D programs, and constant whining about Blender. Now do you understand where I'm coming from, when I say we should be encouraging Blender more? I only use alternate tools when it gives me a real significant advantage. When you got one that can do the same things, just with a different style, why bother? It gives me a good feeling when I look at a render and I found out that the creator only used one program to make that render, it shows that they put more effort into it then others, because they were willing to use the one program, instead of taking the easy way out and doing so and so in that program, so and so in this program, and then rendering in that program. But to each his own.
And Blender UV, I haven't used it yet, for you it may be annoying, but I'm willing to bet many others will disagree. And it's sure to improve later on down the road. And spline modeling? People still use that? :D

Thanks agiel. And I really don't get what my post from my other account (that I don't use anymore) has to do with anything? I made a post about it before right here in community center, and then replied to it under my new username. I asked how to change my username because I made a mistake and put the wrong username when I signed up, and I was told that I should make a new account instead. So, if that was an attempt to get me banned,(over what? a bad attempt at attention grabbing/humour in my thread title? gimme a break....) then that was a really poor job.

Very funny with the above picture. Look, if you don't like the program, then you don't have to use it. We're trying to get more people into Blender, so that it can become more popular, so that it can have it's own gallery, we really don't need threads and posts like this right now, with ignorant folk making fun of the program and trying to make Blender look bad by saying so and so is superior, look what so and so can do. It is pointless to say so and so is better, because no one honestly gives a crap, because this is the Blender forum, not the so and so forum. How would you like it if I came into your C4D forum back when C4D was still new to the 3D scene, and you guys were trying to make it more popular so it could have it's own gallery, and I start acting all ignorant and saying to use so and so program instead because it's better? You wouldn't like it, would you?
Anyway, the OSA for objects, I didn't know you can do that. He's probably talking about the Full OSA button under Materials in the Shading panel window (F5) but I might be wrong.

"right now it takes me a very long time due to me being use to Wings3D (right click and BAM all my functions are right there...as opposed to Blenders Hotkey hunt...but this is just my opinion and unfamiliarity with the app...not meant as a flame.)" :rolls eyes: space bar in Blender does the same thing :D

This gives a new defination to poser modeling.
This doesn't help fellow blender uses at all. We should be encouraging eachother to stick with blender, not use another app to do modeling, then come back to blender, because that's all this really does. Why would I want to use gmax, when blender is perfectly fine?
