Thread: C8 Pro and making Normal Maps | Forum: Carrara
Wow Mark, this little tool is slick! And talk about perfect timing -- been working with the Unity 3D engine and having a way to create normal maps like this is a great plus!
Thread: VTC question for Mark | Forum: Carrara
Mark,
I enjoyed your Carrara 7 series - its a in-depth introduction to the software - picked up a ton of little usage tricks and guidelines that really helped me dig even deeper into the program and had a delightful set of "Doh!" moments when confronting things like modeling in Carrara (coming from a LW background it was a huge change) - and your tutorials were spot on.
As for VTC -- having a blast with them and their odd and expansive categories.

I certainly do, go take a look and enjoy!Thread: Lens Flare isn't rendering? | Forum: Vue
If Shawn's suggestion doesnt fix this ::
I would first --> disable ALL the Fade options for the lens flares in your scene (hoping it pops back to active).
Then, If that does re-activate your lens flare visibility - then unhide everything in your scene -- layers , objects and whathaveyou -- and try re-enabling your lens flare HIDE options w/evrything active in scene and make sure you're okay as you tick them on, one by one.

First off in answer to the original question -- USE the DAZ Collada import/export ! Works just great!
As for GKDantas' comment.
I too am a Carrara junkie, but I have started using DS3A in conjunction with C8P frequently -- for some cimnple yet compelling reasons -- here are 2 :
1- If I create a character in Carrara I can export it to DS3 via Collada, the Daz flavor, and in DS3 I can use the fully enabled Animate+ not the neutered Aniblock importer that I have for Carrara :D As an animator the extra flexibility that Animate+ adds to my use of NLA clips in Carrara is fantastic.
2-In addition (and yet another reason to export from Carrara to DS3) from DS3A I can export back to Poser at need. In regards to Animation once more ::: I also use the Motoblocks animation components, and building larger animation components that will work for the entire workflow - work best when I use the customized and geared up characters and take advantage of their Poser only Python scripts to string together long Motoblock components. (Which end up exported and become aniblocks or NLA clips in their own right later)
So while I try to use C8P for everything, my DS3A really does come in handy and I'd fain not do without it. Even Poser has its uses once in a while hehe.
Thread: Road material in Vue 8 help | Forum: Vue
Sorry been swamped of late!
To clarify my thinking,
1 - using procedurals to enhance your image maps - this can help obscure any pixelization in the shots (both AsileFX & GeekatPlay have tutorials that can help w/that aspect of things).
2- as for the tiling comment, I had initially thought that since you'd defined a meterial region for the road, why not apply a single instance of the road image and tile it along the -X- axis - feeling that using a smaller but 300DPI image and tiling (w/interpolation of course) would have helped a lot plus adding the function driven mix between the two should have completed the look you were after. Sadly taking more than a moment to think this one thorugh, image maps for the overal road surface might not be the best approach. Perhaps discreet material zones for each color/material on the road surface, then you can create tiling surfaces that sould work again w/teh caveats from above about image maps.
