I install everything manually. In my experience when you open a zip from DAZ the folder path starts at STUDIO. When i open zips from here they all need to install starting at the CONTENT folder. It's not an issue for me since I know to do this, but it makes me feel bad for new users that don't have a clue. I wonder why it is this way with Rendo files, seems like it would be an easy fix.

Thread: Importing OBJ's into Daz Studio. | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Another idea is once you import and scale it to where it needs to be, export it again with DAZ scale and then re-import with DAZ scale and it will be the size you want always with no scaling.

You will need to rerig it in DS. DS uses a proprietary rigging system, so importing rigged items won't work.

Thread: HD morph? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Quote - The thing I've noticed with the HD morph for M6 is that the main difference in the package is Normal Maps. As Haseltine states, it affects the geometry rather than 'faking' it with displacement and bump maps.
A normal map is "faking it" just like bump making. Displacement maps actually move the vertices.

Thread: DAZ vs Poser and basic license question | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Quote - @Dustrider I suppose I just need to read up more on DAZ products and exactly why they seem to not function properly or not at all I am seemingly using the models they are intended to be used for. I thought on the cloth room as a possible side step to this complication but it seems I just need to put a little mroe research in.
Thanks all!
Exactly, you really need to understand what the programs are doing and how all the content works together with each figure and that you are working with 3D mesh. The fact it even works at all is pretty amazing. It all seems so plug and play on the surface and in many cases it is depending on the app and the content. You really should play around with a free modeling app to understand what the content is made of and how it is constructed, it will give you quite a bit more undertstanding.
the cloth room is definitley not easier. Once you get the hang of it, it can become eaisier, but it takes more knowledge than what conforming clothing does to get good results.
I use both, but have leaned far to the DS side in the past few years because I find it makes more sense and has some features poser does not have that i find invaluable to my workflow.
Keep in mind there are products at both places that are not that compatible in the other app because of how they are designed and the core programming they use that is app specific.

Thread: Reality Render thread. A new beginning. | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Quote - I'm certainly happy some reality users have been posting pictures of Dawn. Certainly solidifies my decisions on her. She seems to be a good idea gone wrong. Who knows, maybe in four or five years she'll be as common as V4; but, I just don't have the spare cash to be an early-adopter or unpaid beta tester. I've been pretty quiet around her because I've gone back to using poser full-time since the release of R3 and Poser 2014. I had forgotten just how flexible and how much of a joy it was to work with V4 and Poser. Not to mention the thousands of dollars I have in V4 content. True, studio has its autofit and that was one of the selling points for me; but, now that there's the tighten/loosen fit morph tool as well as the droop morph tool, I doubt that I'll ever go back to studio unless they toss that idiotic d-form and go for more vertex morphing tools like poser has.
That being said.. I see plenty keeping the faith with the DS/R2.5/Lux route and am seeing a ton of fantastic renders on DA. For those of you who haven't used R3 yet; you're in for a treat.
Funny, I had more joy working with V4 in DS, still do, LOL.
Having been a long time poser user well before DS, I am just the opposite, which is partly the reason I haven't done much lately, just not getting along well with the R3 UI and I feel like I am going backwards with poser again. That and the genesis2 fiasco at Daz, just feels like to much work jumping thru hoops.
Luckily I got a bunch of commercial work for one of the games I develop for and that has me pretty busy, so glad to see you have a workflow that works for you, best of luck!

Stunning work!! I haven't had the time or inclination to even try dawn out, but you are doing a great job for both of us.

Quote - Dawn, free?! Woo Hoo! That's my kind of price range ;-)
V4 has been that faithful old car with high mileage for me, but heck, how can you argue with a new model when you practically win it!
Speaking of things to look forward to, how's that other version of Reality 3 going?
Dawn does look good, I am hoping for some good morph support as that has always kept me from supporting other figures. Seeing who is in charge makes me pretty confident though. I got a note from Ken after he pulled his birds out of DAZ telling me about the new site, so I plan on supporting them as much as i can.

Quote - But that is exactly what I'm afraid of, the makers of the outfits will re-make their old outfits, you won't get new products just a ocean of re-worked V4 products from established producers with any new producers getting drowned.
Does it become more advantageous to buy Poser 10 and convert yourself rather than buy reworks of items you may already own?
I agree, i have no interest in "purchasing" mesh that has been "conformed" to fit another figure thru the poser interface. When mesh conforms to a different figure (or an extreme morph) it distorts and unless it is remapped to compensate for this distortion, it won;t look as good as a mesh that is designed and mapped specifically for the intended figure. Don't get me wrong, I think the new fitting room is great and very useful, just on the user level only and not as a tool for a vendor to use.

Quote - I know it's out of place here in the daz studio forums.. but it IS a reality render and this is the original reality render thread. Thought I'd show you guys a bit of what R34P can do. Finally got the hang of wardrobe wizard so I can get clothes to fit better.
Nice one, better than my poser/reality efforts, LOL.
If that is you getting clothes to fit better, you might have been missing something with DS as I always have far superior results in DS over poser. I have used WW since poser 7 and find it clunky and not as effective

Now they are saying it will be Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. I don't know about this. But we will see I guess.
Would love to see that, especially if they bring Scarlet Witch to the screen. Here is an old test image I did in DS last year (click for bigger)

BTW how is R3 going getting better?
Nope, I feel like I am going backwards with poser every time i open it. And to think I was an avid supporter of it over DS back in the day. And now they introduce a new, upcoming version, oh the horror, LOL.
Since R3 for DS will be the same UI as the poser version I really need to comes to grips on it, but haven't had the time for it lately. Have several commercial modeling projects for a game community I am invloved it keeping me pretty busy.
