Excellent thanks.... Poser was registered, but I have just "obtained" several new bits for the PC, so I hope to upgrade the entire thing next week. (A local company that I did some work for has died a death, and I have been given various pieces of hardware as part payment for the last job..)

Ive played with it in his office, but I dont think I "need" it... its way to complicated for my play time.. I cant figure out AM at all, love Vue, starting to get the hang of TS... but I still go back to the good old POVray for most of my stuff; Im a coder at heart... have been for my 20 odd working years. This 3d stuff is one of the "fun" things I do to try and stay sane (Vainly some would say!) Anyway, Im off to play with the hair again, if I get anywhere I will post another pic.

Thanxs for th hints on Truespace. Im fairly new at 3d rendering, most of my past experiance has been with CAD, a totally different world ! I have TS5, poser 4 & 5, cinema 4d 5.3, vue 4 and animation master...... so not short of a few progs to play with.. and a friend has offered to buy me softimage... To little time and too much curiousity, I should be out clearing the septic tank! But the computer keeps calling to me...

Yea it is dynamic hair, created in the hair room. As I say the only thing I did different for the export to work is run through the "animation; dynamics; recalc all hair". I thought it wouldnt export either, but it must generate a mesh when it recalcs the dynamics. I plan to experiment again tonight, so if I get anywhere I will post another pic. Gary H

Rendered in POV-RAY? What method did you use to get the meshes into POV? I started out using POV (being a coder it all seemed natural to me); but am now graduating (?) into other 3d apps.. GH

Thanx Phil, I think the problem is the long thin triangles that the skirt is made up from. I tried setting everything on the body to collision detection, and playing with the offset as well. I will rebuild the skirt in squares tomorrow. Its now 01:00 in the morning here in sunny Ireland, and I have two job interviews tomorrow (today) Will post another image if I get it working. Gary H

I have a dual monitor set-up on my main development PC (21" CRT and a 17" TFT), and a KVM switch for most of the others; other wise Id be swamped in screens. "She" cant understand why I need so many PCs.. Havent tried CFS yet, but am tempted.. The only game I actually have is Stormovik; damn difficult just to keep the thing in the air!.

Hi PaulC, I have tried running p4 on the Linux box under WINE... It ran OK, if a little slow, and if it crashed I just started another VP and tried again. I will have to makesure I have all the service packs installed on the WIN2K box.... Guess Im going to have a busy w/e ahead..... and Im suposed to be looking for a new job.. "her indoors" isnt going to be very happy with me for the next week or so.... I have the latest ATI radeon with 128Mb set aside for one of the boxes, it wont help P5, but it makes the games worth while..

Just got the e-mail in... left Dublin at 17:19, so should get it tomorrow.... yee ha..... Now for the first of many questions. On my wee home network I have WIN 2K Pro; WIN 2K Server; WIN XP pro/home; and various shades of Linux. All the PCs are fairly beefy, AMD 2Mhz or more, 1Gb memory, 100Gb HD at least, and decent video cards in all of them..... So where do I install P5? Which platform has proved to be the most stable? I have read about possible probs with AMD processors, so do I stick with the WIN 2KPro PC which is the only one with "intel inside"? I havnt even got the thing yet and already Im worrying!

48 hours at a "shipped" status, and still no e-mail. I got a reply from international support which is basically the same as the one above, so guess they havent got a clue either.. Im only 1 1/2 hrs drive from Dublin, wonder how long their office is open tonight?
