It doesn't load too slow for me, but then again, I don't have a powerful modem, and I have like half the crap on the page (including all of the ads and analytics javascripts, except for one of the marketplace side banners and the clutter on the homepage) blocked. The homepage still takes a little while to load because I didn't block very much on there-- that and the bundles page because well-- it's a page full of accursed carousels.
The Block Element or select-an-element-to-hide feature of U-Block can get rid of most but not all of the annoying clutter on this site-- it takes some work however because if you block the wrong element, then you will block things that you didn't want to block.

A suggestion for Rendo staff: FORCE your programmers to institute Recapcha (whatever it takes to make them do it tomorrow-- the longer you wait, the more community members you drive away, no Christmas eve excuses!!) in order to create an account or send a PM, and you will kill this thing instantly. What you are doing right now is like putting a band-aid on a sucking chest wound. Plenty of websites already require Recaptcha before doing just about anything short of downloading.

Rendo is currently suffering from a bot plague. Many of the Tinyurl links will send you to porn, so beware if your curiosity gets the best of you.

and we go through paypal to process ALL payments whether it be credit card or paypal.
Damn.. I guess I won't be shopping here anymore, then. I refuse to have anything to do with Paypal. This sucks :(
I already figured that it had zilch to do with the hacking, though.

I'm betting that these accounts are bots. Right? I mean who could possibly have enough time to create multiple accounts to friend and then email thousands of people each?

There are already people here who stated that they only used their CC on Rendo. And yeah, good luck getting a response from Content Paradise...

I find the way you are trying to push the blame off to Daz very unprofessional, there was no need for staff to include that information in a public thread. Kristi's insinuations that the problem is at Daz not here is really out of order it was totally uncalled for and shows a lack of professional respect.
Agreed 100%. BTW, they did the SAME thing last time this happened, in spite of plenty of people telling them that they only used their CC on Renderosity.
Edit: Okay, looking over the posts, I do not see any which said this, weird, I could have sworn that I saw 3 who said that they only used their CC here...

At least!
Hoewever, you need to add additional specifications. The examples you cited are primarily 3D sources. Sites that primarily sell 2d graphical content such as seamless textures and Photoshop/Gimp brushes would also fall under the "competing marketplace" rule, would it not?
Also need specifications on where the line is drawn in the case of off-site advertising of competitors. The majority of free 3d content sites out there that ARE NOT THEMSELVES marketplaces usually have link banners to marketplaces or have 3d commercial content sites links in their links page.
Also, jusrt my two cents, but I would prohibit links to file-sharing sites. This is because
Thread: Why has this forum become a ghost town? | Forum: Freestuff
Also like to point out that the freebie threads here are rarely useful at all anymore because they are only about freebies on Renderosity-- anyone can find those, they're right at the top of "what's new" when the thread is made or updated here. Now the only useful thing about this forum is tutorials on how to use certain freebies and teasers for upcoming freebies, both of which are a rarity. Or for freebies completely unrelated to 3D, such as music (2d textures, backgrounds, photoshop/gimp brushes/gradients/palettes, photoshop actions, and photoshop styles all fall under "competing products".) I don't know if fonts count as competing products or not. Gimp scripts/plugins might not be acceptable as the places that host them are usually either competing sites or forums that might not fall under the category of "trusted sites"
On top of all of that, the ToU is very incomplete, vague, and gives very little clue as to what is and is not okay to link to, which likely contributes to far fewer people linking to non-competing external sites than might otherwise be.

We will talk about turning them off again Tuesday. I will keep you all posted.
Thank you and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
I for one didn't say anything about removing them. I have no problem with them so long as people have control over whether or not to display them to the public. I find the admin and tester badges especially useful and would hate to see them go.

I honestly do not want to get into a debate over these as it is not like we are posting how much someone is spending, an address, etc. I do understand the concerns, hear them and will do my best to address them.
For one thing, being a Prime member could potentially lead to harassment by anti-Rendo trolls. There may also be times when a vendor or tester wants to hide such info temporarily if things are blowing up in the forums, in order to be able to post something while avoiding harassment. The harassment could take the forms of spiteful forum posts or hostile PMs (or in some cases, might even extend beyond this site) Hiding badges won't prevent all of it, and there are many very smart trolls out there, but your average troll isn't very bright, and probably won't even look to see if someone posting in a thread is a vendor or even top vendor, for instance. I do think that some of the badges are a waste of time, but whatever, it's not a big deal to me. However, the admin and tester icons I find highly useful and welcome them. They stand out yet are nice and tiny, thus non-intrusive. In some incarnations of the forums, it has been difficult to find the "admin" tag after someone's name.

No, I don't have a deviantart account, and after learning what you just told me, I never will. Guess any fanart I host will be on somewhere like imagur, then. Unless, that is, people on Deviantart can make that info private.
