thaaksma,
Thank you for responding. That response made me optimistic about the future. :D

That's strange Hubert. The page itself is blocked?
Here is a shorter link to just the user page if it's the video's blocking you. I've only experienced blocking in my country for a small amount of videos with music tracks.

I didn't know about it either :P
Unfortunately, zero uploads. It does provide a list of favorites though it's been inactive for four months.

I really think Renderosity should take advantage of YouTube. There are pages upon pages of art here, and people who do work on video, animation, and modeling here.
Renderosity could have a submission page for pending video submissions. When these videos are accepted they can be uploaded by whomever controls the YouTube channel. This could help expand Rnederosity's exposure and hopefully get more traffic here. Plus it would be a fun way to show support of the artists here.
User submissions of image videos, or image by image play just to show off work. Or even speed modeling, or speed production videos of finished art. Tutorials made by the user community and even those who dabble in or are hobbyist animators could also submit their own videos.
It could grow and eventually if it catches on the channel could have thousands of subscribers.
YouTube allows for easy streaming as I'm sure a lot of all know of HD content. The highest I've gotten on YouTube was 2048 by 1152 and the option to play at that resolution is given as an 'Original' option along with 1080p, 720p, etc.
Renderosity would also have a chance to promote their own website with official videos and announcements on store products available here. There seems to be an endless stream of opportunities that a few other art comunties have taken advantage of.

A bucket of water thrown into a running stream will only look like water. I usually hang out and upload content to the Maya section and it seems to be barren these days.
I think Renderosity needs to be..... pimped.
Modernized? I like it how it is now, but really it's slowing down for me. When I first came to this site and to this day the majority of posts I see are all Poser Pro renders and poser content. Not being a big Poser user really kind of dampens my Renderosity experience.
Still.. Even though I may catch 5 comments max on a few select images it tells me at least a few people see something that they themselves like and rate and comment on it. It's a small number, but gives me great pride.
I'd love to see the Renderosity community come together more. Easy communication between artists can spread the word of different peices both ugly and beautifull.
We need a VENTRILLO. More promotion for other programs like Maya, 3DS Max, Vue, XSI. Really push the stories and do what other communities do and gain more info on projects and promote these projects. Written and video interviews, or get videos of studios working on a project, etc.

Hey that's really cool. Now all this place needs to come up with is an official YouTube channel :P. Well, guess we'll stick to that forum.

I'll PM you the link Hollivals.
There is a Tube channel for some 2D animation community. Wish I had a bookmark for it. I'll have to google it. But what I believe they do is allow people to submit videos to an individual who runs their YouTube and would upload it from there. Would really take the community thing here at Renderosity to a whole new level.
Plus if Renderosity were to obtain a large amount of subscribers they would qualify for partnership which comes with more than a few benefits including: Ad revenue, longer than 15 minute videos (great for which this film subject would be applied to).
Plus Renderosity could expand it's user tutorials. A channel wouldn't have to be limited to just particulars.

I edit videos in 1080p and in 2048 by 1152. Most that I ever have been uploaded to YouTube and then later taken down. I have one up at the moment that is still there. I don't know about the rest of you, but I assume having a fast and reliable connection would be vital to finishing this kind of project. I get around 5 to 6 MB a second when downloading something off FireFox or IE. Uploading say to youtube takes just a few minutes with files averaging 1 gigabyte.
So uploading and downloading video and image are no problem for me. Some of my AVI's though can come out to be gigabytes. My last AVI finished at 32.8 gigs.
Ya know... there really should be a Renderosity YouTube channel. There really should be. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people here who make videos with their work. I do. Plus YouTube allows 1080p viewing. It also allows an "Original" viewing format which will play videos at higher than 1080p resolution.

I can see a big boom, a flash of light and a 1080p animation of Earth as some strange cosmic fire rips the planet into small little pieces. At least that's what my brains thinks I could do.
Big booms & big boobs.... Twin double B's...
So, who would edit such a film? Would there be a time limit per clip? There should be some more general information on who, and what those who's can contribute.

Ya know, there was some website that had a collaborative project like this. It was a star wars fan film. Made entirely of different, and completely unique forms of art. Some 2D animation, some 3D animation, many flash. I thought that was an awesome project, and I think if a group of people here were to open a similar kind of project that anyone could contribute to, it would allow all of us to expand in a completely different direction with what abilities we have.
I would be 100% in support of it. Not of course a star wars themed project, but whatever the theme agreed upon will be. Could be something the admins sponsor.

I think Black and white is great personally. Color can be over rated :P
I like space, so I made 3 versions for this.
There's a forum version which is attached here.
A off site version (1280 by 720 JPEG) - CLICK HERE!
As well I have a colored version (I hope it's okay) on my gallery, but I won't link it.
The image is supposed to relay a kind of message. More that Earth is our planet, we are here, born on it, etc.
It relies on us as much as we rely on it.
