The above-mentioned tech section hints at it, but it's basically a proprietary system at PDI (www.pdi.com). That's all I've been able to find out so far.

Ah. No, not using one, and the materials menu says there is none associated with it. If it helps solve the problem, here is more info. When I change the highlight color, there IS a change--the hair beneath the curls changes, while the curls all keep the yellow highlight. So the pic above is with a black highlight. It turns the majority of the hair and the "roots" black without affecting the curls. Sigh I'm about to give up on this one.

I thought of that, but I haven't tried it because creating textures is still rather new to me. Know of any tutorials that could walk me thru it?

I tried it already. FIrst I had white for a highlight, then I just tried to eliminate the problem by making black the highlight, but that damned yello just won't go away! Argh!
