"The 2d tools, (Hand tool, Zoom tool, etc.,) SHOULD NOT be used in a CAMERA view. They are for use in a 2d view. (Front, Right, Left, Top, Bottom, Rear.) The CAMERA tools should be used to maneuver the camera. Dolly and Track. The Track tool has 3 different directions it can be used to properly position the camera in your scene. The Dolly tool allows you to spin around the chosen object. "
Actually, for the case that is being discussed here you are 100% incorrect. This person lost a portion of the production frame. They could not see the corners of it in their camera view window to manually resize it. Using the camera tools would not work. No amount of panning, zooming or using the track ball would move the production frame back into view because the camera tools to not effect the position of the production frame. To do that you'd need to use the hand tool. Using the hand tool allows you to move the window's entire contents around (production frame and all) inside the window. Once the production frame is back in view you would then use the camera tools to position your scene (or the portion of it you want to render) within the confines of the production frame. I would not recommend ever using the magnifying glass in the camera window but using the hand tool in this case is perfectly acceptable. In fact, it's a smarter and easier way to do it than having to go back into the render room, uncheck "keep proportions", type in a new size and then return to the assemble room to move the now visible corners of the production frame.
But hey, thanks for the public disservice announcement.;-)

"Shonner - that's the point - that way isn't working - the corners are out of view and i can't get them back." From now on, when the prod frame corners are out of view you don't need to mess around with zooming. Just use the hand tool (space bar) and move the cam window's contents until you can see one or more of the prod frame's corners. You can them move it and resize it at will.

I agree that OS9 is dead however the Mac mini kind of sucks. Besides not coming with a moniter (which most enty level machines do) it is exaclty what you think a $500 dollar computer would be. Out of the box it bearly has enough power to run it's own operating system.

In the next 12 months Bob? Definitley not. My current machine (dual 2.5 G5) is only sixteen months old now. Besides costing nealry $4000, it still runs like new so it's not getting replaced (or suplimented) by an Intel Mac anytime soon. Just make sure Eovia doesn't abandon the Power PC current user base. I have a feeling the Intel Macs will be the minority (of the minority that is already us Mac users) for some time.

"So, that might change my purchase timeline for a new Mac if the current apps run well under "Rosetta." My guess is it will run like a slug. Classic mode sucked. So will Rosetta.

Angelouscuitry Many of the same GI scenes that are in C5 were also included in C4. You can access them via the scene wizard.

Go to the "Scenes" tab in the browser at the bottom of the screen. There are several.

If you purchased Pro than the link should have been for Pro. Contant I'd call Eovia to find out what's up. Someone is always there to answer. Go to the above link for their support contact info. Bottom of the page.Message edited on: 01/05/2006 14:16

You could always make your own shaders if you can't find what you want. Carrara's quite good at it. And, it's fun.
