Unfortunately I'm not at all well versed in Max. Are there any tutorials you could point me to?
Thanks very much for all your help, BTW!

Yes indeed it is the De Espona collection. Vue doesn't recognize the .max extension, otherwise I wouldn't need to export.
Ranman, where can I send it?

All of the filenames are already 8.3... But these files already existed from the cd, they weren't exported from me opening the .max file and exporting to .3ds or .obj.
Frustrating.
I did manage to start mapping textures to the object in Vue, but there's no way in this cosmos that I'm going to do that by hand for each piece of each object for 5000 objects, some with hundreds of pieces. There has to be something else I'm missing, lol. No to mention trying to determine which piece of an object goes with which map file...

I did, tried in Poser and got the same results. Only the base color is being applied, no textures or bump maps. And Poser doesn't ask to find the image files either.

Thanks for the reply.
Vue doesn't ask t find any of the textures. It seems like it doesn't know about them. I suspect my export from 3ds is missing something, but don't know how to fix that. I can only assume that all the texture maps would be exported properly along with transparencies and bumps.

I have a related question, I think.
When I export from 3ds as a .3ds file none of the bumps or transmaps are being carried over when I import into Vue. All of the files are there, but Vue isn't loading them. And I can't figure out how to apply a jpg bump in Vue 6 Infinite, it's expecting a function file.
Any ideas?
Thread: Short and Curlies via the hair room? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I know this is an OLD thread. But I've been trying to make some short and curlies, but they don't appear to be easy. Would be great if someone could post their actual settings and examples.

Anxcon, I render with hyperreal at 1024x768 all the time on a 512mb machine, no problems. And that's without reducing the texture size in Firefly. Maybe it has to do with the number of figures in the scene.

I've used 5 and 4, they act the same with respect to backgrounds in my experience. Anyway, I tried. We still don't know if he's using P6, he didn't say, he only said "firefly".

I just did a test. I imported a 1600x1200 background picture, and then rendered at 600x800, and the background maintained its own aspect ratio of 4:3, so the render had background grey above and below the background image which was squarely in the middle, like a letterbox movie.
Then tried changing the options to 800x600, and rerendered. Now the background had the sides open to the grey instead of the top and bottom.
And now it stays that way and probably will until I close and re-open poser.
Since Bart didn't say how large he was rendering we don't know. I don't think he was saying P4, as much as the P4 render engine. Then he said Firefly, not P6, so...
I still disagree that it's memory, I can render nice and large and it won't matter as long as I keep the aspect ratio the same for that session.
