Okay, I'll try to reply to all of your comments.
I didn't know about the free stuff, thank you very much for telling me. You will see some of it in upcoming comics. =P
It is a bit static, but I didn't want to overdo it and make it look silly. I mean, how much do you really reposition yourself during a one or two minute conversation? I will try to move them around a bit more in the future, though, and try to find a good middle ground.
One of the characters is sort of an image of me. Nathaniel (the one with long hair and facial hair which I still can't quite get right) is supposed to be my lost twin (the one that was never born) so he looks as close to me as I could make him. When I showed the comic to my Mom the only criticism she had was that his hairline was too far back... so I guess it is a pretty close resemblance.
I will look into some of the free 3D modelers. I have download Vue d'Esprit and used up its trial period (I made one of the art pieces on my webpage with this free trial).
Thank you all for your comments and advice

Have you tried all of the different cameras? I have had a few occasions when I opened a file and the figure was completely off-camera. Trying to find the figure with the current camera is sometimes quite difficult, but flipping through the cameras usually finds the character.
I've never had this happen with the default character though, so if you aren't opening Poser via a saved file then this may not apply.
Good Luck
