ya know i've been a fan since when the show originally air'd, and since techTV brought it back, its been on my mind once again.. its a shame they only made 17 episodes.. and now frewer is looking his age these days. but with poser and all, I have been thinking of giving the shot at a model, I will see what i can come up with..

just what sort of black light effect are you talking about? the effect where skin looks purple and certain white things seem to glow? well that cant be done with simply a black colored light thats for sure.. you would need some type of glow effect, which poser doesnt have. so you would have to recreat it with texture and set the ambient lighting to max (white). but even this i dont think is going to recreate the desired effect..

i have some robot models, but they are not in poser format, they are just single mesh static models.. if you know anything about boneing them in poser then there are lots of models out there for you.. there are many very low poly models from games like quake at planetquake, planetunreal, planethalflife..etc.. i have converted these to poser before. though they will take some editing in a modeling program like max or milkshape if you dont use max..

you can also use morph targets to change the feet to fit the high heals.. i know i have seen them in the free section here. try searching for it.. if that doesnt work. a quick and dirty method that i have used is.. create the walk with the walk designer, delete all the keyframes for the Y-trans for the hips then raise the hips (with IK turned on) for the first frame.. ya might loose a little bounce in her step, but its hardly noticable..

ahh i didnt know they did that stuff by hand, i thought there was some handy tool out there to do it. i have UVmapper. i didnt know there was a pro version..maybe i will take a look at that. thanks for the input all..

you might want to try some more realistic looking textures. looks like youre just using a flat color there, the pose is pretty good, though her left arm seems to be in an impossible position. experiment with the lighting too.. the poser default lighting isnt very good.

hey virus i hadnt heard of Virtools before, and i thought i had done an extensive search on real time 3D.. thanks.. oh another one that will handle BVH via a python script is blender.. which has been discontinued by its makes, however i read recently that it is now open source.. so i hope someone picks it up and expands on it.. it really had potential for modeling and rendering not to mention the game engine.. i did manage to import the p4low models into GS, it worked but slow, (just wanted to see it i could be done and how it looked). just seemed to me there might be a much faster way to render poser scenes, since the poser rendering isnt that great anyways. what would take several minutes for poser to render would take about a second for something simular in openGL or D3D on a game engine. well no serious work, just seeing what happens.. :-)

well i have been sampling some game engines in the past few months, downloading any demo i can find looking for one i like.. but i dont believe you will find one that can import poser characters and bvh directly.. first of all game engines use low poly meshes.. even lower than the P2low models although they can work, but youre going to cut the frame rate way down. only some game engines use bones, the others use something like morph targets. youre not going to achive real time frame rates with poser models. thats why poser cant do it in real time either. depending on what you want to do with the game engine there are several good ones out there... so far i like conitec's 3D game studio. has lots of good features, looks nice and simple to use. lots of free resources out there for it also.

Thanks for all your input.. i dont feel insaulted by any of it. making this pic was not a labor of love.. more just messing around.. the pixalition in the back ground is from the scan and the jpg compression (that it went through at least twice) and thanks for your kindness melanie.. i started with poser 2 also.. but i soon gave up on 3D characters.. but i came back with the poser 4 release... i wouldnt say its bad.. but yea, i know not a great peice of art.. it was meant to be more like a vacation photo. thanks for all the input and bashing anyways.. i hope everyone can benifit from the critisim.. i'll have to post some of my better work sometime so you all know i'm no slouch!

i've looked thats kinda hard to find.. but you could find a human body model and texture it with muscles, with a good bump map and trans you'd get the same effect..

well you cant load .MAX files into poser.. but some max files use external .obj or .3ds files... .3ds is the 3D studio max native format for model and any model out there is either in 3ds or can be converted to it... and most 3d software can load and save it.. .max files contain more 3d studio max specific information. (parttical systems, textures, and everything that you do in 3d max) I think max is pretty much the only thing that can load .max files. if ya have max files and you think you want the models out of them you can use 3d explore it can view max files and (i think) convert them.

you cant load max files into poser. but you can import OBJ or 3ds files into poser and more than likely you will need to re-texture them.. just go to file -> Import-> wavefront obj. (if thats the format you have)

go to the Key frame editor.. (the key icon on the bottom right) drag the white box over all the frames of all the figures that you want to delete and then click the - icon near the top and all the frames will be gone..
