Thread: Fuzzing the camera lens, ala star trek | Forum: Carrara
Late to this party. This can be achieved using the Bloom option Eric Winemiller's tools (aka digital carvers guild)
Thread: done any renders with the light gels? | Forum: Carrara
Last one. This used a Caustic gel I made and applied to a spot light aimed on the submarine. The sub is waaaaaay too deep for this to actually show up, but hey, it's underwater-y.

This uses a "Cookie Gel" to create some foliage shadows. A cookie gel is just some random blobs, like you'd crushed a cookie on it.

You can smooth out the motion of this render with several tricks:

Thread: Using Carrara to make poser content? | Forum: Carrara
Hi Misty,
Carrara can produce/export obj content for Poser just fine. However, don't spend time rigging in Carrara - it doesn't export cr2 (it does export FBX rigs, but that is a mixed bag)
I created some tutorials for rigging obj content in Poser. Objects (costumes) are rigged the same way, but by using a Poser character for positioning. Then the object is parented to the character. Lessons 22 and 23 show what do: https://www.renderosity.com/rr/mod/tutorial_premium/?page_number=9
Thread: Poser Clothes, Daz People??? | Forum: Carrara
Hi tsarist, Yeah, I don't lurk much anymore but do try to get in here every couple of weeks. Doing fine. Not independently wealthy or anything, but doing ok.
I'm sure I'm supposed to be a professional gentleman of leisure so I can partake of all my interests...

I did some tutorials on this for Renderosity. Check this one: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/tutorial_premium/?page=info&tutorial=66
Thread: Question about using Carrara for 2D animation | Forum: Carrara
I can’t be specific with the problem, but I suspect it stems from Carrara being designed to use bones for 3D instead of 2d. And, if the mesh density isn’t high enough, Carrara may simply not know what to do. If it’s going to work, each vertex plane will probably need to have about 500 polygons in quads with no triangles - triangles and bones do not play well together.
Programs like Moho (anime studio pro) and other 2d animation solutions are designed specifically to handle this stuff. If your budget allows, and if Carrara can’t deliver on the 2d bone rigging, you might want to check out Moho. It’s very powerful and easy to use.

You may be making things harder than they need to be.
Unless you are going to intentionally turn the figure during the animation so the viewer can see how thin it is, there is really no need create a super thin model. It's easier to adjust lighting and textures to visually imitate a flat object, especially if you'll be doing any type of head or body turns if it's a life form.
If you really want to have flat objects, I'd suggest modeling the 3D object and then reduce the depth in one axis prior to rigging. (x=100%, y=5%, z=100%) This technique is something I did on the attached image for a Carrara project a loooong time ago.
If you can show a style sample, I can help you brainstorm.
Thread: Rendering the virus blahs away? | Forum: Carrara
Since animation, you can still do the background trick if you want - and blur the horizon line. Scaling the dragon while doing a slow camera move can create a similar results but looks like a much quicker zoom into the dragon.
