The introduction of Iray is when I really sat up and took notice of Studio. I was already starting to use Studio for M4 clothing conversions to use with M5 in Poser, and I was slowly putting some effort into actually working with the program. Iray just clicked with me, and my old first-gen i7 can handle it even just rendering in CPU mode (I'm at the point I basically can no longer use Reality/Lux on my machine). I bought in the March sales all of the conversion tools to leverage my V4/M4 collection with Gen2, and I found a new spark and joy with this hobby.
I'd put a lot of hope into Poser 11, but as mentioned by other posters above, there were no images of Paul, Pauline, or Superfly that made me feel that "I had to have this". In fact, it was quite the opposite. Add another 35% for the dollar exchange rate at the time (it's now 45%), and the cost isn't worth the upgrade to me. PP2014 will be my last version of Poser for the foreseeable future. I'm glad some people are very happy with P11 and enjoy solving the challenges it presents. I'm just no longer up for that challenge.
Thread: New Front Page! | Forum: Community Center
The supersize banner at the top takes up half my screen as well. But I was more concerned that the giant VOM banner I was hit with on opening the page is borderline NSFW with the very skimpy ninja outfits. I would have been scrambling and praying no one saw my computer if I opened up your main page at work. (The other two banners are great and are appropriate for all ages and venues.)
Thread: Is anybody having problems with loading the Hivewire horse? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Do you have the current version of the HW Horse? He's had a few updates since release.
I have him installed in an external runtime, and so far he's worked just fine.
Thread: OT: the newest Wonder Woman | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I really like the new WW look, actually. And something else about it that I don't think anyone else pointed out is that the new look shown is probably more appealing to non-American audiences than the traditional star-spangled panties. Not to mention far less wedgie inducing. :P
Thread: Stephanie Leonidis as Irisa of Defiance | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I can't say I've seen anything specific for Irisa, but I crafted an Irathient original character with V4 using Morphs++ and the morph tool to work on the nose bridge. And then some heavy Photoshopping of the texture mats. I was pretty happy with how she came out.

Actually, it's quite easy to get a native Genesis (1 or 2) for Poser, but you'll have to embrace DAZ Studio long enough to load Genesis up and save it back out as a cr2 file. The other cool thing I discovered is that all DAZ scenes save as duf files, so DSON will load a complete DAZ scene into Poser. The biggest advantage of this is morphing Genesis and then using DAZ Auto-fit for clothes. Save it, load it into Poser. No messing around trying to conform it or run weight-mapped stuff through the Fitting room.
Is there anything special you need to do to load in a scene using DSON? I've only used it to bring in figures and clothing from the library.

Thread: Reorganizing Your Runtime so that everything is "All in one Place" | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I made a folder called zOld (the z to push it to the bottom of the list) to toss all of my deletable content into. Once in a while I go in there for something specific, so it's nice to still have it available.
I've been slowly working on cleaning up my V4 runtime to put all of the mats with the figures and props they belong to, but I've been hesitant to go too far as I wasn't sure how far I could go with it. Looks like I can be far more agressive than I thought. A messy runtime drives me absolutely crazy.
Thread: To Reality or not to reality...... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I really like Reality. It's possible to get decent renders right out of the box with it, though getting good renders will take time to manipulate the materials. But knowing you're setting up the scene for Reality means not having to muck about with optimizing material settings for rendering in Poser.
Rendering time is definitely slow, but it doesn't matter to me since my work is just for myself anyway. Whether I let a render run for 8 hours or 32 doesn't matter. And once Lux is running, you can close Poser or move onto a different project. You can also stop and restart the Lux file anytime you want. The image keeps refining as long as you let Lux run.
And I find lighting is much easier to set up in Reality than it is for rendering in Poser.
Thread: Yet another Genesis post | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I used DS's autofit to convert M4 clothes to Gen1, then saved it back out as Poser companion files. It worked well enough for the most part, though it certainly wasn't a fast way to go about it.

Thread: Why aren't male figures more popular? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I actually like using male figures and would render them more often, but it seemed the content was always so limited for what I wanted to do. And then there were the projects I gave up on because I found M4 to just be a pain to work with sometimes.
Replacing M4 was my whole reason for investing anything into Genesis, and I've been quite satisfied with Gen1/M5 after I figured out the quirks. Though it did mean that I lost having a native male figure I could import into Vue. (I'm sure it can be done, but I've just found it easier to move that particular workflow to Reality for the time being.)
I personally like the look of M5 over M6, but Gianni could be very useful to me. If G2M is continuing to get reasonable support, it might finally be time to invest in it.
And of course I'm watching Dusk with interest. I know I could really use a native male figure that's not M4 but has solid support. Just have to decide if I spend my budget now on G2M or sit and wait until Dusk's eventual release.
Thread: Thoughts of a departed Moderator | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't post here often as I don't feel comfortable posting here, and some days I don't even feel welcome to post here.
Number 4 on your list has been one of the reasons I pretty much gave up on these forums a few months ago. I'm still confused as to which figure I should be using, as apparently none of them are good enough to use.
I feel for the moderators here, I really do. It can't be an easy job on a good day.

Quote - > Quote - I just wish I had the knowledge to fix problems like the little bit that goes shooting off into space on the skirt I'm trying to sim right now.
Have you added it to the soft decorated group? That works most of the time for me.
I've tried adding it to each group, and exporting and re-importing as an object. That one spot is just determined to go shooting off to try to discover the molton core of earth.
