Welcome to the best Bryce Forum on the web. I started out on Bryce some two years ago, dinking around with things until I ran across Renderosity. The wonderful people here not only help with frustrating conundrums, but they actually go out of their way to make it easier for you to understand the processes. You couldn't have found a better home. The key to anything in life is practice and the patience to make many learning mistakes.

Hate to be a dork, but where did you get the squirrely ques on top and bottom of picture. Nice detail on those. Picture is cool as well, but I have to admit the first thing I saw was the aforementioned brackets. Nuke

Thenondemaster, Great picture, I second all the others thoughts. Only thing that bothers me is the china hutch or dresser in the background, it has such a sharp edge to it, it divides the picture in half. When I first saw it I thought it was two pictures. Just my two cents, otherwise fantabulous. Kudos.

Jeff, no problem. Glad to help a fellow Brycer, and after all that's what this community is about. As for the Deep Texture Editor, go to the edit menu, it's the first icon on the left (looks like a square with some chunks cut out of it. Once that screen comes up, you'll find the scaling tool over on the right side of the screen. First left button will bring up another screen. If you don't find it email me (drizzt_831@yahoo.com), I'll explain in further detail, or as Ringbearer pointed out, there are several great tutorials with screen caputers of the interface. Hope it helps.

Jeff, don't sweat it we all have to start somewhere. I think you should look at your own living room and really see how things look, then try to achieve that look in your scenes. Use the deep texture editor to scale down the textures in this scene. They are way too big and it distracts the viewers eye from your center point, which I think you want to be sophie. Also as subin pointed out, there is no depth which makes the scene look flat itstead of realistic. As for the credits, come on people, we all create textures, models, props, etc. Is this not a forum for creativity, sharing, learning, and growth. Yes I know it's important to give credit where credit is due, and I firmly believe in the copyright laws, but give the guy a break, it's obvious he's starting out, cut him some slack. As long as he's not making a profit on it, live and let be.

With the Communities indulgence I'd like to add my two cents on this subject. As all these fine people have pointed out, all things are negotiable. What I would like to pass on to you is no matter what you decide, always get everything in writing, before you send them anything. I've been burned once but it was for 5k. Did all the work and was only able to get the intial fee of $700 from them, and a tax write off. So do yourself a favor get it in writing, and never sell yourself short. Don't base your answer on what the client can afford, but also on what you feel your time and effort is worth. Nuke

I think it looks pretty good, though I have a couple of suggestions, take em how you see em. Overall I think the scene needs to be a little darker, to let the light objects stand out more and maybe a little post work in PS, to make the robes a little more fluid. Right now they seem harsh and un-moveable. But hey looks really good. Nuke

Based on my understanding yes you could back up the Preset directory or you could go into each preset and select all of your materials and export them as one group to a place of your choosing and then re-import them after your fresh install. Oh yeah, after you install bryce before you do anything else, delete the presets you want to install and then just re-import all of your previous presets. They will come in as a group just like they went out. Theres a great tutorial on this in this forum. I think it's called "Downsizing Bryce". It'll explain in a little more detail what I'm talking about. This method can be a pain, but it's effective. Hope it helps. Nuke

You can try different settings with the camera's FOV Field of view, to give it a fish eye lens effect. I know of the ability to do this, but I haven't done very much experimentation. Maybe one of the other fabulous people in this forum could give you a formula that works. To edit the FOV select the camera (easiest for me) by changine the scene view to the top, then hit the little "A" to the side, brings up the attributes and then in the right hand corner you will see FOV, just play with the settings to get what you want. No problem, Jan, but after thinking about it you could bypass the taking a picture of it and just loading it into the materials editor, to achieve roughly the same effect. Either way, it's something to try. Nuke
