Kate - Well, after posting that last message I went off to find that you did indeed visit my work, so the preview wasn't necessary :-) Thanks for the generous comments on my work. I do a lot of post process work in Photopaint, but I'll start posting to Bryce. Thanks - Reed
Thread: Where do I post my Bryce post render worked images? | Forum: Bryce
I agree. Organizing images by application is great for artists like you say. That's how I found terragen. But every now and again I want to browse for a particular image style, or content. Let's say 3D Digital Impressionism, or Surreal, or B&W, or Fantasy. That type of browsing is not application specific and I contend this is a non-artists perspective on viewing.
It's interesting, I can post an image here in renderosity and get maybe a couple hundred views in the first couple of weeks, but I get 500 to 600 unique visitors to my website per day. Those web guests are just arriving to view content, and could care less about application I used to create it. Okay, some do ask, and I do post some tech notes, but for the most part, they are casual viewers that arrive through links based on content.
I mumble.
Anyhow, renderosity is a great place for artists, not so friendly for the casual viewer as it stands today. But that's not a complaint, just an observation.

Well that I would definately agree to. I prefer to view by content rather than application. Posting by application is more for the artist rather than the viewer. A new person coming here to see pictures would not know, or care what created the image, but they are more likely want to browse for content. Okay, you convinced me - I've been kicked out of other application galleries, why not Bryce too :-)

Good point about the origin of the original render, perhaps I'll start posting to Bryce. Mixed Medium says: "This gallery is ... to display ... original Mixed Medium (created with more than one program or tool) ..." I wonder what that means? Oh well - Thanks -

I would go with the (top) soft pastel look, it's wonderful and adds so much feeling to the image.
Thread: Trick to simple yet precise poser character imports into bryce | Forum: Bryce
It's not a problem if you import just one poser character. For example, if you have a model standing and one sitting, when you import the models separately, the sitting figure will be as tall as the standing model. So you have to scale the sitting model down. This isn't a bad problem but when you have two or more models interacting, like a dancing couple and one is off the floor, it gets to be a real problem because the models get imported in different places and at different sizes. I don't know the history behind the comments here, but I do have an observation. People will flock to the best product or service. It doesn't matter if you decide to do something someone else is already doing, because if you do it better than the competition then people with follow. I've been to the other place and I've chosen to be here. The highest complement is the traffic, features and service that members get at Renderosity. And if there is some mud slinging going on then I would suspect this team is probably doing something well. Competition is good for customers, and can be a wake up call for some of the competitors. Keep up the good work Jack & crew! - many complements.
Thread: Question about Poser and Dual-CPU's ??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I was curious about this thread because I thought (most) applications (in this case poser) don't have a concept of multiprocessors. That is, you can't program an application to find a processor and run on it, you are allocated resources (in this case a processor) by the OS. So the real key is having an OS that supports dual processors (as Viper mention about NT 4.0). I believe Win 2000 will support multiprocessors ? And then again I might be completely out in left field on this one without a cpu. Reed

Thread: How I got Water Droplets on my "Caribbean Winter" image | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is a great tip!!! I've been struggling with this effect for months and had not succeded. One thing I did discover (mostly by observation) is that wet skin has a high specular reflection. So one thing I've been playing with is rendering (in this case in poser) with that "plastic" look for wet skin, and then "duller" reflection for dry skin. Here is a link (contains frontal nudity so please be aware). http://www.3dxtc.com/g2/bath1.htm It was made from 3 poser images (1 dull skin, 1 "plastic" skin and then I rotated the camera for the reflection - post Bryce days), Then stitched it all together post production. Again - great tip - Now I'm anxious to combine these two techniques - Thanks - VanQ

Thread: Maintaining poser object relative sizes ? | Forum: Bryce
Great thanks ! This is very helpful. I knew about ungrouping and selcting but I usually couldn't do this because the bodys were too close. Moving them apart is a great tip. Also hadn't thought of 'invert selection' will greatly help. Many Thanks! VanQ
Thread: Maintaining poser object relative sizes ? | Forum: Bryce
I'm exporting/importing them as separate files. For example if one figure is standing and another sitting, then when I import them into Bryce, the sitting figure is as tall as the standing figure. Perhaps I should import them both as one object but it's unclear to me how to separate them for texture mapping. I'm using .obj format. thanks VanQ
