So many companies have done this too. So shady of them opting users in, and then they find out later after the fact. Even LinkedIn did this (what do they even need it for there?). Ive seen ClipStudioPaint has a feature that lets you connect to existing server. Its a but complicated and takes a lot of time to learning how to get it to do what you want it to do.pierremeu posted at 9:03 AM Fri, 27 September 2024 - #4489791
Adobe hid their "consent" as a non-advertised, no-warning-before-adding, tiny option that was on by default.Adobe trained their AI with the consent of artists as I read. So it can be done the right way.
Nobody actually consented. It was just a "from now on if you're using our program you consent, but also we're not gonna warn you about that change - oh, we're gonna hide is as an option just to avoid legal trouble, but the option is on unless you know to look ant turn it off".
Go look, thousands of artists have been leaving Adobe lately because of those bad practices.

Ah sorry. didnt get notification for any replies. But yea, what primoge sald. Thanks everyone I think I got it now.
I do have one question. It gets a little tedious if you have multiple magnets. So is there a way to have multiple zones associated with just one magnet so I can have them all have the same settings?
Thanks

I did however see something strange in ShaneNewville's post about using magnets in your other thread, a few parameters in the Other parm group that are curious. Then again I don't use magnets very often and am only a novice Poser animator, might be relevant, might not...

This isn't perfect, but magnets can go a long way for this sort of thing, especially if the focus is more for cinematic type scenes rather than trying to have a perfectly functioning rig.
For this i setup a series of magnets rotated opposite directions and have the snake pass through the zones.

Oh i see. Yea having a 3rd party does raise some security concerns. I think the biggest problem is the surprise when its at the worst time (no internet access). Some kind of warning would be nice, esp for newcomers who are not aware of it yet.The old activation system was run by Nalperion and we dropped it because it was expensive and getting more expensive every year. Yes it had cool features but I don't want Poser users paying more for features they really don't want. There's also the trust issue with 3rd parties having access to user data. The current system is simpler yes but it's also entirely in-house.
It does have a grace period but it's limited and it's also silent. We can probably add a warning that it's running out of time to refresh the activation.

nice nice. I wonder why its not this way from the get go. I just got the popup again when I tried to work offline in Poser 12. haha. Its only been a few days ( maybe about a week. )I opened a support ticket, they changed my offline duration to 1 year or something to help keep this from happening again.
Its kind of sad that legitimate users are the ones that have to deal with it.

And was looking forward to digging into Poser 13. Except I guess I had not opened it in a while and saw this error. No internet on Avelo airlines...
I hate software that does this, for precisely this reason. I think I will stick with Blender.
Ahh. yea. Wish they'd do away with that method. Ive had this happen in times of need too. That's why I always keep a copy of Poser 2014 or Poser Pro 7 on hand

I then proceeded to try out the "make movie" animation feature, and that's where things went off the rails.
The first thing I noticed was that Poser no longer spools the images directly into movie files. Instead it prefers to generate a ton of individual image files and then merge them afterwards.

If it's not a bug it sounds like some objects might be locked and/or hidden. For whatever you have that doesnt move, can you select it and check the Object menu to see if Lock is enabled? I'm curious about that one. Ive never had any issues with this myself and all I use Poser for is animation.Select and drag does not work right for all figures, some morphs do not carry over properly.

Absolutely agree! That is all I use Poser for too and its an area that definitely needs some love. Especially considering the GUI slowdowns that have come over the years. For example the Animation Palette is lightening quick when I go back to Poser Pro (7) but these days there is a long delay/lag we have to wait for every single time we try to arrow through frames. it makes the process a bit frustrating. Especially for more complicated scenes. I almost need to go back to older Poser just to do the main animation work and then bring it into modern Poser to finish it up. Id rather keep it all in one place.Main thing I always wanted to get improved was the animation panel.

As long as its only optional and they don't remove perpetual licenses like Adobe did its not bad. That just means people who can't afford the big price tag have the option to try it out.The day Poser adopts the subscription model is the day that I uninstall Poser.
