They look great! Bring on the REAL body types for those sick of seeing perfectly toned pixels! You definitely have a knack for organic modeling there, keep up the good work. Soluble Hamster The one, the only, dissolvable rodent.
Thread: P5 Firefly Rendering and dual processor systems | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yup I agree with RealDeal. The renderer itself only uses 1 processor but everything else running on the pc gets load balanced to the 2nd. Which means whilst poser is rendering you can make a texture, model, play games, anything! its like having another pc :) Of course the limitation is memory, and even with 1GB of RAM in my rig some renders take it all, and I try to keep them out of the swap file if possible (nothing slows a render down more than having to use the swapfile). Last one I tried in LW bombed out with an out-of-memory error, meaning it wanted more than 2.25GB! (RAM + VM). P5 doesnt support multithreaded rendering, but LW does, as does Max and most of the 'higher end' 3d apps. Once you go dual u never go back! Soluble Hamster The one, the only, dissolvable rodent.

Splutterfish is great as a render plugin for 3dsmax 4. But it pretty much brings it up to Lightwave standard (with or without G2 by worley) imho. Before 3dsmax5, it didnt have native radiosity or global illumination, you need plugins like brazil or final render for such things. It produced great renders but its a pain, as you have to add special 'brazil' lights that emit photons, and special 'brazil' texture plugins that accept them and emit caustics etc. Just think about doing that to a massive scene with hundreds of different surfaces, then tweaking them individually. Now that 3dsmax5 has native support for these things, I dont think brazil and final render are AS important as before. Im sure they are an improvement over the existing 3dsmax5 rendering engine, but for the price.. its not worth it. My 1.9 recurring cents. Shruggle. Have you applied the SR2.1 patches? It sounds indictive of the numerous firefly raytrace bugs prevalent in the original release. Soluble Hamster The one, the only, dissolvable rodent

Jim's and Tashar's pictures have the 'eyes' reversed so you have to look THROUGH the picture to see it properly, ie. go UNcrosseyed :) Which I can JUST manage to spread my eyes far enuff apart to focus on. Then have a migrane for an hour. :) My renders were all done with main and aux cameras set up at 100mm Focal, the same xyz dolly, same xz orbit, and with the aux camera offset on the yOrbit by +5 deg from the main. Any less and the effect is lessened, any more and the amount of information 'lost' by going too far around the model makes it look... strange on the edges. ie. hidden elbows, shadows enlongating too much etc. Shrug. Thread: 2 quickie P5 questions | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
- When calculating cloth dynamics, what is the meaning of the number that appears in the screen (not the frame number - the other one, with the decimal places. Its the time (in seconds) it took to calculate the cloth dynamics for the frame number shown. Shorter better, longer worse :) Soluble Hamster The one, the only, dissolvable rodent.

Thread: Somebody tell me what's wrong here. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I had the same problem when exporting obj from 3dsmax. Dirty marks all over the model instead of nice white, and the model looked... blocky not smooth. Tracked it down to the obj exporter chopping off decimal places too soon when exporting, since poser uses such small units it does something strange. In 3dsmax with the habware max2obj exporter there is a section under file called # of Digits If its set too low (like 1 for some reason on mine) it cuts short verts etc way too soon and u get stuff exactly like u have shown. Check your exporting options in LW and see if u have an option to do that. (soz but havent used LW in aaaaaaaages) Hope it helps. Soluble Hamster The one, the only, dissolvable rodent.
