@TallPockets: please refer to Tom's input here; his theory is as good, if not better, as any input I'd provide.

People are nuts.
Regarding Harry Potter; I went to Costco today for my usual Saturday shopping. They had four large pallets of Harry Potter out on the floor. Many people were picking up their long-awaited book. The kids were all sitting around reading while mom and dad did the shopping. A half an hour later, one pallet was emptied. They were then opening up another two pallets containing the audio version of the book with people standing around waiting for that.
It was all rather orderly, no mad rush at all. But based on what I saw, I imagine that particular store would be sold out by early afternoon today, if not sooner, unless they had more in the back. I estimate each pallet held 500 books. My copy arrives Monday at work.
Thread: new site design --- font in site mail inbox, etc. is white... | Forum: Community Center
@hewee: I agree, that is really my only major beef with this site is allowing people to use different colored fonts. I have to highlight blue text just to read it. Red is nearly as bad. Allowing people to express themselves for whatever reason by using such horrid font colors truly screws up an otherwise great web presentation.

Please...OH PLEASE GOD...tell me you've removed the ability of users to use different colored text for forum posts. There is NOTHING more annoying than reading blue text on a dark background.
White text is your friend!
EDIT: OMG, they can STILL use colored text! Make it go away! The 90's are over!
EDIT 2: And I agree, the stars really gotta go, guys :)
Thread: Digital Camera Recommendations? | Forum: Photography
I'll recommend the Canon A620 or A640. If cost is too be considered, either camera can be had for a decent price if the idea of replacement is for another P&S. Both are capable of full manual use.
Thread: Lens question... | Forum: Photography
I bought something similar for my old Sony DSC-S85, it was the worst $129 I ever spent (yes, $129...I was a total idiot and also had more than a few beers in me). Save for the dSLR; that way you can go into the poorhouse by spending tons of money on good glass :)
Besides, you don't really expect something decent when the postage costs more than the lens, do you?
Thread: Camera and heat | Forum: Photography
It's not only the heat you might worry about, it's somebody ripping off your gear!
The camera, if in a bag and out of direct sunlight, should survive, but if you're going to leave it in the car for an extended period of time, I'd recommend removing the battery and taking it with you.

I never get spam, either, at least to the address I use here. The only place I get spam is on my five Yahoo accounts which I really don't care about; they're used for on-line purchasing and you KNOW many vendors sell addresses. I hate Hotmail so I never use it.
As unpopular an opinion it is (Andy Welder's), it sounds like somebody's address book is being harvested, either a member's here, or a friend's.
@Acadia, et al: As usual with several woe-is-me-rendo-sucks topics, you're way out of line. You have no compelling or confirming proof whatsoever that Rendo is selling addresses or is the direct cause of spam received in your in-box either by Rendo mail server modification or by unauthorized internal selling of addresses. Bashing, laying and throwing blame at Rendo will not solve the obviously not-working method you use to keep your personal e-mail account as spam free as possible.

What? You mean my new 1D Mark III won't make me a better photographer? I'm gonna strangle that guy at the camera shop!

It must be because I'm posting photography again - LMAO!
Stacey, I'm really going to have a tough time justifying paying my $90 Platinum subscription to this site if this keeps up! (no slap to the OP...yeah, it's slow)
How the heck are ya, Stacey? Long time no talkie :( I miss ya. I hope all is well with you and yours :)

Quote - Steer clear of the Samsungs, Sharps, Fischers, etc. Even Fuji or Kodak - they're good for fun, but not if you want to take your photography seriously.
Huh?
Go spend a day or two with a Fujifilm S5 Pro or a Fujifilm F31fd, then come back here and explain your above nonsensical comment.
