I'll try that. Another question: How do I work with/edit stuff that is inside the head without outside (cheeks, lips getting in the way? Is there a way to hide those? (I'm using 3DMax 5.1)

Don't be discoureged! Do some tutorials, I believe there are a couple that come with Max and you can find a lot more on the internet. Tutorials are really an amazing thing, a program looks incredibly hard, almost impossible to use, unitll you do a tutorial, and than you go, "Dude! That was so easy!"

The extrude thing kind of got me confused too at first because I'm using 3DStudio Max and it has an "extrude" function that is quite differnet. It mounts an identical polygon on top of the original and does the sides too. it looks like you're putting a brick on top of the first one. Like in the picture, the box on the right is the original and the box on the left is the same one with the top polygon extruded. It doesn't move it by itself, it creates a bunch of new polygons. CoL

I tried that, but it doesn't do much good. I tried turning edges too. Doesn't work :(

Thanks guys :) I'll do the mirror thing. It's just that a lot of itmes before you join the two halves in the end, there's a visible middle line, and I'm trying to do the nose right now and it looks kind of confusing. I'm having trouble with the nose. I've circled the weird area. Is that what you mean about 5 or more sided polygons making trouble when mesh smooth is applied, loganarts? How can I fix it?

Yep, this forum looks great! ^_^ I'm so excited! Question: What do you mean by "try to rough out your texture map ahead of time"? You mean before you do any modeling? How's that possible? I thought you needed a ready made model before you can start on textures and bump maps. The Creature of Legend
