Quote - WILL SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW YOU KNOW IF SOMEONE GAVE A LOW RATING??? I can' tell.
I've noticed it while commenting others work, not under mine pics.
English isn't my first language (obviously) so writing a comment takes in my case more time. It happened couple of times that before I wrote, re-read my comment and finally pushed "submit" another person in a meantime had posted his/hers and added a rating. Sometimes I could spotted sudden drop of stars despite of "oooohh and ahhhhh" comment posted by that person.
ps. I think it can be seen only when a couple of comments are posted, because one star can change rating dramatically.
Hope it makes a sense...

I've noticed those too:)
I don't mind low ratings, but it was quite funny. Comment : "excellent, fantastic!" Rating - two stars.
What I think it is just lack of... guts, heh. People are more honest with stars thinking artist won't be able to tell who gave lower rating, so they are 'safe' (and can tell what they really think)...
IMO it again shows one of the biggest cancers in this community. Lack of honesty, andhypocrisy in galleries (but it was discussed so many times, so ...)

I make "just playing with" pics. And when I say "it's nothing biggy" or something similar I mean this pic is done for simple fun only (or to test new technique). It doesn't necessary mean I didn't try my best. It means there's no deeper concept, thoughts behind specific pic.

then again, i have several unfinished works. a couple are just less urgent than some of the images i want to do, but most i just reached an impasse. what's the vote? should i submit them to the group and take advice?
After receiving feedback about my latest pic I'm sure I'll make a wip thread at ArtTheory forum next time. Your comments guys push me to try harder, don't give up on my works easly, and sometimes you even have a good idea...or two :tt2:
So cobaltdram if you want us to follow progress of your pic and need assistance or a push go ahead! I'm sure you won't be sorry

I've noticed same thing last week in my "recently viewed". It was showing pics I've never clicked on. Weird.

Quote - i think if we decide to remove all critical comments in the galleries then it will very sadly send a negative message to the rest of the community
[...]it would send the message that the gallery is an inappropriate place for critical comments.
personally, i think we should each do what's most comfortable.
Hmmm... maybe you're right.
Those who would like to discuss their wips in details and show progress of an image could start a thread in a forum or... post in gallery and move discussion to a forum if needed?
So everybody could do what suits best for them at specific time/in specific case...

How about... we post wip in a wip gallery but with disabled comments and in forum a link to that image? Just a thought...
I agree with have to come up with some kind of process that would suit everyone.
OT1. I would like to thank for your comments guys. You spotted things I didn't notice, and you gave me some cool ideas about my pic - thanks!
OT2. I noticed some critical comments under my wip coming from non memebers. I also noticed few honest comments in 'main gallery' from non members as well. I think it's great!

Quote - Mua ha ha! Soon we will achieve GLOBAL DOMINATION!
Quote - Also, I have seen two wonderful - IMHO - renders in the Poser gallery. The Mariyn Monroe portrait by Yannek and Kuiski's crucifixation. Stunning work.
Agree... very impressive works!

Yeah... I know... I said that... call me a fickle :blushing:
Seriously though, I still don't like the idea of adding all to favs (because of reasons and concerns I mentioned earlier) but no one tags images, group is growing, and I have problems with rememebring who's memeber and who isn't (anymore) so I had to give up...
Thread: Want critiques? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi again guys,
I added all of you to my favs... this group is growing so fast that I can't rememeber all names  Now I can track all uploads!
By accident I even added myself to my fav artists, I didn't know it's possible

I have very busy week and I can't comment as much as I would like to, but after quick look at galleries I have to say - you guys rock!
I learnt quite a lot just by reading comments, and I spotted couple of redone pics greatly improved thanks to your words :thumbupboth:
I saw people suggesting we should have separate gallery. First I thought it may be a good idea, but the more I think about it, the less I like it. Why? Because one of reasons for this group is to enourage people to post honest comments. Honest comments should be a standard. Making new gallery so we don't spoil good mood of 'oooooh' people would only show that everything here is upside-down
Giana suggested a forum as an addition to a group... I really like this idea... We could communicate even better, share tips, helpful links etc... What do you guys think?

Quote - I don't think I'm very comfortable prefacing comments with some big prominent "Critique Club" tag as some people are doing, it seems too cliquish to me.
I haven't realised it may look cliquish
I used this tag, I don't know... I was kind of scared of being eaten alive, or called a troll. It's my naive "safety-badge-just-in-case" ...
I don't know what those who already received comments think, but as far as I can see the idea of cg works pretty well. Can't wait to have something to show!

Quote - OK Tissaia, I unfavourited you as requested.
However please be aware that as the majority are using the Fave function to track the group, this may result in you receiving less critiques than others.
I'm aware of that, thanks Karen
See you folks in galleries!

Quote - Tissaia, no problem. I'll just click on the link to your homepage under your name and look at your gallery from there.
Thanks guys.
But you don't have to check my homepage to see if I uploaded new pic. You're right that...well... it would be kind of waste of the time :tongue2:
I want other members to browse galleries like they always did. If they find my pic, great. If not... it's ok too!
All I want is that people know they can critique my pics freely. It would be great if memebers could leave visible tag under their pics or before titles if it's not a problem? Thanks

Quote - i figure if i get out there and critique and try my best to give good, thorough reviews, i might get some in return. and it's just much easier for me to do that by following artists than following a thread.
Quote - I prefer the fav list because I simply do not have time to scan the galleries.
Ok... I can see I'm a minority here...
Let me play an advocatus diaboli for a little more though :P
I understand the need of knowing when a member posts an image. How about a sticky thread where we would post ONLY info that we've just uploaded new pic (a link)? We would have to bookmark it to get ebots?
What do you think guys?
If not... well... I still really want to be part of this if you guys won't fav me and don't mind that I won't fav you :
I browse galleries every day, so I'll find you by tags or by other members comments anyway.
Quote - Tissaia - i just wanted to say that i've added you to my favorites not because of this thread
Thanks :blushing:
