I can see that. Makes sense. I think I'm going to use a diffrent set of eye maps, since I only now remember I have better ones. The lighting color will probably need a tweek since I think the eyes picked up a lot of that blu-ish grey from the rim light. As for the occulusion, I work in two layers and combine them in photoshop as an overlay (one for an UberEnvironment2 render and one with normal lighting). I guess I'll just lower the intensity on the UE2 render and see if that sorts it out a bit.
Thanks for the advice everyone, I'll let you know how it turns out when I get a chance to make renders.
Thread: The end is near | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Honestly this is the first time I'm hearing about CMS (I still slog along with DS3, though I have a copy of 4Free on my system to play with genesis). I guess my question is, if CMS checks back with the Daz store site for meta-data, what happens if it's not on record that I purchased it at the Daz store? Like I have small amount of stuff left over from my old account (chiefly V3 things I never use anymore) before I took a long hiatus, lost my password, and forgot the address I used. I wouldn't want someone thinking I pirated it.
That said, I don't think there's much to worry about. From what I've toyed in DS4, it seems like I can reach my runtimes fine and everything is in the order I left it in, so I guess CMS doesn't forcibly rearrange anything. But since I pretty much use content as-it-installs rather than personally organizing my runtime, I guess I'm not the best candidate to render a guess.
I do agree with who3d though, a more smooth installation process would be nice. I had to format my system about 5 months ago and didn't have a backup of my runtime (a mistake I shant make again, I assure you -.-). Even with AutoInstaller, I STILL haven't fully reinstalled my content because of how long it takes and how many installers I have to go through.

Yeah, it seems like it could end a lot worse then good. Truth is mark all office relations, even in hiring, as totally professional for just that reason. This is kind of hypocritical of me to say though as I'm the one who hired the man I ended up marrying lol. Bu t that should be a bigger indication of it being a bad idea: I didn't even know him and nearly lost my job for it. If my superior wasn't a 63 year old, chronically-high, salty oceanographer, he'd probably have canned me hard. So yeah, leave be is probably the best approach.
Thread: Probably simple... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
looks at 25 posts Wow, maybe I shouldn't have used the phrase 'simple'. Though it turned out it was in fact the normals. I apologize for wasting everyone's time, never had that happen before, though I suppose this mesh is rather complex. Sorry for taking so long to respond back, when I said 'after work' I should have mentioned it's a 14 hour day for me.
It's far too ugly to post though, it did work. Bill's pics pretty much sum it up.
thanks so much guys, you're wonderful.

Hi, thanks for commenting back, I'm at work now so I can't quite show you the issue, I'll have to post it once I get home tonight. I'm thinking reversed normals might be the issue because if I do a full render, it comes out all black and velvety instead of the usual default plastic look of renders. I guess I'll try reversing the normals (one I figure out how) before and let you know if that solved it, for that matter.

I already had to evacuate. They really want to scoot all of us off Coney Island, but understandable, my job is here specifically BECAUSE of how close to the water it is. Oh well, food water gas and books is all I need.

Doing the same thing repeatedly, expecting a diffrent result is the definition of insanity.
Doing the same thing repeatedly, saying you expect a diffrent result is the definition requesting a grant extension.
Thread: Updating a library issue | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Okay, I think I see maybe what happened, it looks like some of the recent stuff installed in a runtime WITHIN my runtime. It'll take an hour or so to transfer all the data, but I'll let you know if that doesn't solve things. Thanks for responding so fast. Sorry for wasting your time with a novice mistake. Been a lot of runtimes popping up as I try to figure out this automatic content installer I got.

Well, I only have one runtime. The top of the heirarchy in DAZ is 'content'. Poser identifies the top of the heirarchy as Desktop. Did I add my runtime wrong?

These ones I always teach the interns at work here:
"How do you tell the sex of a chromosome? Unzip it's genes and take a close look."
"A student was idly reading the diplomas on his instructor's wall when he noticed that he had two PhDs, one in mathematics and an earlier one in cellular biology. Curious why he would make such a swing in commitments the student asked: 'Sir, why did you change from studying biology to studying math?' The professor said he liked to keep things simple and 'biology is the only science where division and multiplication happen at the same time!'"
"A scientist, fed up with looking at rocks all day, decided he was done with geology and went to work for CERN. Today he's the leading theorist on earthquarks."
"There was this biologist who was doing some experiments with frogs. He was measuring just how far frogs could jump. So he puts a frog on a line and says "Jump frog, jump!". The frog jumps 2 feet. Next he chops off one of the legs and repeats the experiment. "Jump frog jump!" he says. The frog manages to jump 1.5 feet. He chops off another and the frog only jumps 1 foot. He continues and removes yet another leg. " Jump frog jump!" and the frog somehow jumps a half of a foot. Finally he chops off the last leg. He puts the frog on the line and tells it to jump. The frog doesn't move.
While analyzing his data he comes up with:
Frogs with 4 legs can jump 2 feet.
Frogs with 3 legs can jump 1.5 feet.
Frogs with 2 legs can jump 1 foot.
Frogs with 1 leg can jump 0.5 feet.
Frogs with no legs are deaf."

The reason they aren't conforming is because those are the dynamic parts. Dynamic cloth items have no bone structure like the hood, they're just props (ya know, solid, rigid objects). To use them, you put Mike in the scene in his zero pose, put in the item(s), then perform a cloth simulation. Basically, dynamic clothing doesn't 'attach' to a character like conforming clothing, rather it hangs off the body like real clothing does.
There's a lot of tutorials on running cloth simulations. I used this one wayback when http://my.smithmicro.com/tutorials/1619.html, but it's fairly out of date. Anyone wanna toss in a suggestion? I'm partial to the youtube ones, but I'm at work and youtube is blocked so I can't suggest one.

I'm more saying that the fact I let a bird pick up profanity is proof that the less living creatures I have an effect on, the better. (though my husband is mostly to blame, he's the only one of the people who live here who swears in english, of which Shippie, my parrot, prefers to do)
Thread: OT: Video Game Withdrawal | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Heh, I already have a macaw that swears. When one of your pets already needs a profanity filter, you need to consider how qualified you are to raise more.

Quote - The only "shooters" lately were Star Wars- The Force Unleashed I and II. Fun-but not addicting- good story-but brief and linear. Most of the DLC is aimed at the Dark Side character- and I played the Light Side endings.
May as well anyhow, LucasArts generally sticks to it's "light side ending is the canon" one anyhow. I liked how in Mass Effect they dodge the whole good/bad thing by making it more 'Robocop v. Die Hard'. Don't get me wrong, Renegard!Shep is a JERK, but its admittedly funny watching him resolve problems by threatening EVERYONE.
