Wow, that's a hell of a research you have put into.
Thanks a lot, this is really helpful indeed.
So far, it seems we are on the same page for the GPU and RAM.
I have an RTX 3060 12 GB on my list and a set of 32 GB DDR 3 RAM is also in there.
This has to be changed to DDR 3 or later if I would make the decision to buy a new MB.
Funny you mentioned the Casing. I would never allow this beauty to be exchanged for one of those blinking aquariums.
I want a computer on my desk, not a night light.
My system has currently the storage capacity of 4 TB, Two SSD's with 1 TB and one external HD with 2 TB. That's enough storage space for my stuff.
I don't like to have too much stuff laying around, unused for ages and eventually thrown away anyways.
I have a decent sized backup place and I keep my system as clean as possible.
Every three month I replace the OS completely, that keeps things fast and working.
So, you gave me quite a bit of homework to do.
I will keep your advice in mind when I decide what to purchase.
Thanks again, greetings from Germany and a good start into 2025 to all of you.

Thread: Poser 14 | Forum: Poser 13
I can't see that you have been shut down for your opinion on AI.
As far as I remember, someone posted that he or she wants to have AI embedded into Poser 14.
I on the other hand said that I would rather stop using Poser then using AI and I explained why.
So far, a pretty average conversation, right?
RedPhantom in his capacity as a site admin called for orderly conduct and honoring the topic of the thread.
I took that advice as being pointed towards me and withdrawal from further discussing the AI topic.
So far we have you and a few other people who want to work with AI inside Poser 14 and I want to have a Development Rig for High Heel Shoes.
I guess we all have our preferences and we can have a discussion about them at any time in a separate thread, or via sidemail.
There is no need to be upset or angry, no one is attacking you for anything at all.
BTW, I would like to have the possibility to color code the different Root shader.
Since we cant have separate layers for Poser Surface Node, Cycles Root Node and the other one I can't remember the name right now, we should at least be able to put a color to the nodes to bring a little bit of structure to the chaos in the materials room.
In some shaders dozens of little nodes are really confusing and it makes it extra hard to keep track of them and what they been connected to.
I think of one color for the Root Node who's getting transferred to every node that is connected to it.

@RedPhantom
I absolutely 100 percent agree. One thing I really, really want to have is a Developer Rig for shoe's, high heels to be exact. I was trying to follow the instructions menu from Nerd3d I believe, but I couldn't wrap my head around it. Could be an language issue, but after listening to it a dozen times, I put that aside for another day.
If I'm not mistaken, Nerd3d mentioned in that video that "they" are working on something to make that process more streamlined.

Just for clarification.
My standpoint on the issue of generative AI is proportional to the gravity it has to Artists from literally all branches. The database behind AI image, music or writing generators was put together by using a loophole in current copyright laws. Microsoft, Google Apple and Nvidia founded None-Profit Organisations to be able to use everything what is in the Internet for "research" and "analytics".
I think we can agree that this qualifies as a scam. As far as I know, scamming is an illegal act.
If I would use an AI generator who is based upon stolen data, I'm participating in a crime. That's the main reason why I refuse to use this "Tool".
One word of warning to the people who use AI generators as a tool for their creative process. AI was first trained on data from the Internet, to create the puzzle pieces you are playing with right now. The next step is that your usage of that tool trains AI on what you want to create and what you do to accomplish that task. AI is basically learning the decision process an artist is running through to get to a specific result, during the artist is using the AI tool. The final step in this development is an AI generator who works on its own, without any human interactions. It knows what you like to see, hear and read, down to an individual level. Sure, it will create a bunch of crap, but it is working 24/7/365 and it is working fast. At that point, you aren't an artist anymore, you are a consumer. Do you find that prospect desirable? To me the answer is...No!
I really don't care if someone sees this standpoint as radical, extremist or religious. It's based on facts and a basic understanding of human behavior.

AI?
No, thanks! If AI enters Poser, I'm leaving. I don't want to have anything to do with this Rubbish.
It's unethical, dangerous and it takes the fun of creating anything at all.

Thread: Can't apply Morphs... | Forum: Poser 13
@RedPhantom
The important settings you are using are just like what I have.
The export settings are a bit different. I also use Material Groups, because I like to work with material groups in a mesh.
Thread: Can't apply Morphs... | Forum: Poser 13
I'm working in Blender Version is 4.2
You are correct, the import and export options are different from previous versions.
In the Import Dialog I created a Poser Import Preset for OBJ files, under options I ticked Vertex Groups and Validate Mesh.
In the Export Dialog I checked Selection Only, because Lafemme is mostly present when I build something for her, so I make sure, I have to deal only with the clothing.
I also chose UV Coordinates, Normals, Apply Modifiers, Object Groups and Material Groups.
Does this match your settings to a degree?
Thread: Nvidia or AMD? | Forum: Poser 13
Ah, I see. 14 years of development has done more than just faster GPU's and CPU's, it also changed the interfaces between components.
Get it!
Seems to be reasonable to look for a new Mainboard as well. Following the logic of hardware developing, this could mean that my cable set and power supply is also incompatible with the new parts, like the Mainboard and others, right?
I'll have a closer look at this.
Thanks so far for spending time on answering my questions.
It' was already helpful.
Thread: Nvidia or AMD? | Forum: Poser 13
Thank you very much for your answer.
I see that I had to lay out the specs of my currend PC to provide the necessary information.
So, my CPU is an Intel Core i7x980 3.33GHz from 2010.
The mainboard is an ASUSTec P6x58D Premium from 2010
The original build had an ATI GPU Radeon HD 5970 Card installed, which was replaced by an Nvidia Gforce GTX 1650 3 years ago.
I guess the necessary connectors are already in place to run an AMD card again.
The OS is Windows 10 pro and my Poser is version 13 latest edition.
Currendly 16GB of DDR3 RAM is installed and the power supply has 750Watts.
The machine is old, but it works for 14 years absolutly stable and reliable.
I find the way Nvidia distributes graphics cards a bit confusing. On Amazone you get as search results for Nvidia RTX 3060 several different brands and models like Asus or Gigabyte or Zotac and every card has editions.
Thats not really helpful, isn't it?

It seems the bug was me. I forgot the number one rule in computing.
After installing a software reboot the device!
Thanks so far for the answers.
Thread: Just an observation...the Reload Textures function is not working. | Forum: Poser 13
@nerd3D
Thanks for the clarification. The feature never really worked on my machine, so I can't say I have made anything with it, expect for pulling my hair out trying to get it to work.
At this time around I also noticed when I use the metric system to which I use on a daily basis as a European, certain aspects of the software act differently. Simulations across the board put out strange results, in animation the dope shed editor won't do the operations like adding, deleting or copying key frames. If I would be superstitious, I would believe there is an evil ghost inside Poser who tries to drive me mad. In one of those forms back then someone told me to switch to the imperial system and voila, the ghost was gone. I have no idea if this is still an issue, since that time I have always set the system to imperial and run with it.
Thread: Just an observation...the Reload Textures function is not working. | Forum: Poser 13
@versum
Can confirm, it hasn't changed. To have this feature functional, you have to uncheck the render cache and for whatever reason is behind it, it works in the pose room every time. Not so much in the materials room. I'm somehow predestined to find such glitches. In Poser 11/Smith micro era, there was a feature announced called 3D Path, remember? I was crazy about it, it would be a game changer for animations, right? I found out that it didn't work, not even showed up in the menu, because, and I don't make this up, I use a German Keyboard layout. I purchased the English version of the software, installed it on a Windows 10 with German language package and it didn't work. I had to switch to the American English version on my OS and change the Layout of my Keyboard to get it to work. From that point on I'm not even sure, if I have a full featured version of Poser running. I mean, if what I described is possible, everything is, right?
Thread: Just an observation...the Reload Textures function is not working. | Forum: Poser 13
Hm, if we have to alter the files name, what good does the "reload textures" do anyways?
I have checked the suggestions for using tiff files insead of png or jpg.
The reloading did not work any better, but the file size got higher, so I received the "Running out of memory" message.
Unchecking the Cache in the render setting did work, but I also had to clear the Render cache in the General Preferences under the Render tab.
I do think those "Bugs" get often noticed after an update because people seem to be more aware and almost expect to find something.
Thread: Just an observation...the Reload Textures function is not working. | Forum: Poser 13
@kbdm257
I could be wrong, but I don't think it's the render cache that causes this problem. The viewport of the node editor in the materials room is not responding. After I saved my texture in Krita, the previous version of it is physical gone, overwritten with the new one. The only thing that stays the same is the name of that file.
Thanks for the advice in regards to the tif file format. Krita can handle tif and psd files alike. It should be no problem to check on your notion. If the file format is causing this behavior, I will let you know.
Thanks so far. I'll check out the suggested solutions and see if it works out.
Thread: Okay...am I stupid or something? My Clothing items keeps disappearing... | Forum: Poser 13
Phew...
I think I got it right this time.
After importing the original object, I sent it to the setup room, loaded the LF2DevRig and assigned the bones I needed.
Despite the initial advice, I chose auto grouping to have something to work with.
With those rough groups in place, I edited them nice and clean.
Back in the pose room, I renamed the piece.
The next step was to save the thing to my library and clear the viewport.
I then imported the object file with the recommended settings and did the same as I exported the file, overwriting the original object file.
Back in Blender, I imported the object file created by Poser and checked the weld and groups and BINGOOOO!
It worked!
Now I can die in peace. ;)
Just one additional question if I may.
I learned that the new garment works better if it inherits the joint zones from LF2DevRig instead of LaFemme2.
I checked this and it is indeed true.
My question would be whether it makes sense to add this step after rigging and before saving the part to a library.
Are these joint zones saved during this process?
Anyway, thanks for your help.
I will write this process down so I never have to ask this question again, I promise.
