I'm glad I bought it, mainly to satisfy my curiosity - but unhappy with walk designer and animation render times. I wasn't too happy with animation render time in P5 either - but it did seem to render a bit faster and the walk desinger didn't crawl in slow motion. I'd like to see some of the "glaring" bugs fixed soon. Like James' head looking like a Frankenstein sew-on with his neck - low quality body seams and unexpected results when applying pre-fab facial expressions. Yikes! Frightening! It does load faster than P5 ever did and the OpenGL is nice in some respects. But to be honest - I'm going back to P5 to continue animation work until a service release comes out for P6 that fixes some these bugs.

Thanks for all the info! It took me a while - but I FINALLY figured it out and found the references in the manual - Toon ID is on page 295, Wacro Drawer-page 223, Toon page 304 - and in order to apply toon shading to ALL the parts of an object - "shift-click" when the button come's-up in the advanced shader. (I was going one by one...OY) :P -Cathy

Okay - E-on came through with the fix and everything's working fine now. For anyone with a Mac that ever has this problem: Go to the "Library Folder" on your Mac's Hard Drive, open it and look for the "Application Support" folder, open that and find the file "Vue5Trial.reg" and delete it. Then try running the program again. Make sure there are no hidden spaces before or after the reg number when you enter it. That's ALL there was to it! AMAZING!

Yeah I know - I was a respondent on that very thread and I also touted my Mac's abilities. Until this odd demo problem popped-up I've had zero issues with it. I can honestly say that my Mac's the workhorse of the two and stable as a rock. I still suspect there's something wrong with the demo itself. I'll see as soon as the upgrade arrives! Now I REALLY can't wait! ;)

Thanks Baz! This is the most curious problem I've run accross. The darn PC Vue5 demo runs GREAT on my little Dell PC with only 512MB RAM - go figure! Thanks everyone for all the help and ideas! If I ever figure this out I'll post the answer. -Cathy

Well- I just finished upgrading my Mac OS to system 10.3.8 - all the latest bells and whistles - downloaded Vue5 demo AGAIN ( 4th time) and installed it - AND it still doesn't work. I don't think this is a Mac OS problem. Everything else runs great on this machine.

Thanks wabe- I had nothing running besides the Vue5 demo. I've tried it 3 times now and got the same same error message: "The Application Vue5 has unexpectedly quit." Right as it begins to start. I can ony hope the actual application doesn't do this when it arrives! -Cathy

Here's my specs: System: OS Panther 10.3.4 Dual 1 Gig CPU 1.5 Gig RAM L2 cache 256 kb per processor L3 cache 2 mb per processor Bus speed 133 Thanks for all the info so far - it gives me hope that I won't have to replace this computer yet! OY - I just finished paying it off! ;) I have contacted e-on but probably won't get an answer until Monday or Tuesday. I was a little freaked-out by this, so I really appreciate all your help. Baz - About the wipe-clean uninstall - do you mean I should even take Vue4 off the Mac also before trying the Vue5 demo again? -Cathy

I use both Platforms as well with Vue4. But I find that my Mac (G4/Dual 1Gig/1.5 Gigs RAM) just performs better overall. The only exception being a little glitch in OpenGL which I hear they've fixed in V5. (I'll soon find out!)This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
