Thread: Star Wars: Attack of the Clones is a Chic Flick! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This movie was my favorite out of ALL of them, and yes, that does include Empire.
I can't wait to see it again. However, the question is:
will it still be my favorite after watching it 50-100 times as I have episodes 4-6? Maybe, maybe not.
I can't believe that I just read anybody actually saying that they liked episode 1 better because "at least it had Darth Maul"
uhhh, yeah, it had Darth Maul, and unfortunately it also had Jar Jar Binks and Super Mario Kart. They might as well have made it a cartoon.
There were so many cool characters and vehicles in this movie, I was sitting there thinking, "man, if I was 10 years old again, I'd want one of those, and one of those, and one of those...."
It also cracks me up when people try to compare plot, acting, etc, and say that the current movies are SO much worse. That's hilarious. Keep in mind that many of you were under 15 when you saw the first trilogy. Watch the originals again. Mark Hamill wasn't the best actor in the world...
Thread: Attack of the Clones... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I was 6 years old in 1977 when the original hit the screens. I was completely enthralled and the moment I got home, I remember recreating X-wing vs. Tie Fighter scenes on the sidewalk with sticks and twigs. That being said, I just saw Episode 2 this afternoon, and I can honestly say: "This was my FAVORITE of ANY of the Star Wars movies." I liked it even better than "Empire Strikes Back". That is quite a mouthful. During the Yoda fight scene, I might as well have been that 6 six year old in 1977. I was sitting there, mouth agape, about ready to leap from my seat as Yoda flipped and spun! One other thing worth noting: I was very disappointed in Episode 1. It was easily my least favorite in the series. Jar Jar Binks made me want to vomit.
Thread: Need help with trans map for chainmail texture | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I haven't had good results with chainmail transmaps. Basically what has always happened for me is that I end up with a really sheer looking material that looks more like shiny see-through clothing than it does chainmail...

My biggest gripe with the comment system is that you can't leave comments anonymously. If you like the pic, it's no big deal to leave your name, but God forbid you leave some constructive criticism. I appreciate when people take the time to actually tell me how they think a piece could be improved. However, I've nearly come to the point where I won't even leave any more comments unless they are COMPLETELY positive. If I even hint that something could be improved, I get into a big IM argument nearly every time. It's not even worth fooling with anymore. I've found that I've gotten much more truthful and useful feedback at deviantart.com than I do here...

OK, nevermind. I figured it out. There was one object embedded deep in there that was still neutral.

Thread: AMD and Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
sith, if the BIOS is showing the wrong cpu speed then it's likely a configuration problem before it's a hardware problem. Did you put the system together yourself? Did you set the CPU speed in the BIOS manually? Does it just keep losing the correct setting and reverting back to some other setting? Give me as much info as you can. It's possible that the battery on the motherboard is failing and it keeps reverting back to the default settings (one of many possibilities) Let me explain the lockups I was having and see if this sounds like your problem. On my P3 running Win98, everything would be kosher until I hit render. The render window would pop up, then sometimes it would just sit there forever, not progressing, not responding. This would happen several times a day. This NEVER happened on my Athlon running XP. Last week I upgraded the P3 from 98 to XP and I haven't locked up a single time in a week. I think it's pretty obvious to see what was causing my problem - Windows 98. Does this sound like the same type of freezes that you're having? You're problem might be something different, but maybe not. Do you have problems with any application other than Poser?
Thread: AMD and Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've mentioned this in numerous posts, including once again just yesterday. Your machine isn't "freezing" because of the processor or the heat or anything hardware related. Just a hunch, but I'll bet your're running Windows 98 or ME. Am I right? I've experienced regular lock-ups during renders on a Intel Pentium 3 1Ghz. I've never locked up a single time on my AMD Athlon XP 1600 running Windows XP. I'm 99.9% certain that your problem is caused by your operating system. The solution is to step forward into the 21st century and upgrade to Windows XP (Windows 2000 will also likely clear up the problem)
Thread: Anyone with access to multiple PC's - you gotta network em!!! | Forum: Bryce
I don't really see the need for a second monitor permanently hooked to the second computer, Rayraz. You would have to hook your primary monitor to the second machine to make sure that Lightning is running and get the IP addr, but after you've done that you could hook the monitor back up to your primary machine and off you go. As far as drives are concerned, all you'd need on a helper machine is a hard drive with Lightning installed. You can install it over the network, so I can't see the need for any sort of removable media drives...
Thread: render time | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The only time I've ever seen Poser hang the way you guys are describing it, it basically has little to nothing to do with your hardware. The configurations you guys are using are plenty good enough to handle this stuff. I'd be willing to bet that the people who are having these problems with indefinate render hangs are not probably using Win98 or ME. I've had the same problem on Win98 machines, but I've never had it hang like that a single time on a machine running XP. Runinrebel, shorterbus, what OS are you guys using? My money says it's not Win XP or Win2000...
Thread: Texture wizards ... please help | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm definately no texture wizard, but I know that the lower resolution the map you're using, the blurrier the bloodstains will look. For sharper, crisper edges, use a texture map that's 3000x3000 or even 4000x4000.
Thread: Question to everyone that renders in Bryce | Forum: Bryce
Bambam, I can definately respect your knowledge of space and it's effects on the wear and tear of spacecraft. I'm also impressesed with your knowledge of authentic design. However, as some other posters have referred to above, I'm more interested in science fiction that I am in science. My own artwork if full of elves and knights and other fantasy characters, because they represent an escape from everyday life. Likewise, when I look through a gallery of spaceship images, I don't particularly care if something could "really happen" or not. You say that such and such can't happen, but in fact what you should be saying is that "such and such can't happen in this universe at this a time according to what we know right now." What about the future? What about an alternate reality? What about a universe where the laws of physics were different? It seems as if you just dismiss these ideas offhand. A lot of the art I like is "what if?" art. What if there were dragons terrorizing villages? What if there was a race war between dwarves and elves? What if we had Millenium Falcons that could travel at light speed? I often see art as an escape from reality, and evidently you don't. Just keep in mind that many people share my thoughts on this, and you'll begin to see why other pics get more interest than some of your "technically correct, realistic" pics...
