I've just had an amazing conversation over in the python forum where HartyBart and Y-Phil came up with some solutions. Y-Phils dynamic dialog box works wonders as you can see...
Now these readme popups can let me add more info to a specific folder rather than the tiny 91x91 png files I used to use to add notes on how/what to parent figures to in each folder. woo-hoo!
Here is a link to the thread:

Thanks for all your input guys!

@HartyBart: I was able to alter the width and height of the popup window so it was large enough to accommodate all the text. I did have to guess where to do the line break since all the text is centered instead of left justified. Thanks for you help! This is a lot better method that I used do which what cram as much text onto a png file that showed up in the library.
@Y-Phil: This is exactly what I was looking for and it works perfectly (after figuring out I needed to rename my source files). Is there any way you know if to make the box wider perchance? It's not necessary since it has scrolling, but I'm just curious.
Thank you guys for your replies and help!

This is very helpful. I copied your information and pasted it, got it to work. I was trying to type a lot of text and the dialog box wound up being to narrow, the text disappeared off to the sides. Is there a way to have the text go onto the next line and have scroll bars if there is a lot of text? Some of my readme's get wordy.

This requires 2 parts. The actual library file that's very simple put this in your CR2, Pose or what ever:
{
version
{
number 12
}
runPythonScript "WhateverYouCalledTheReadme.py"
}
The second part can be as fancy or simple as you like. The easiest is to just use Poser's "Simple dialog" for the text thus:
import poser
poser.DialogSimple.MessageBox("This is my super interesting description")
Put the python that contains your text in the came library folder as the actual library file. Like this ...
Now if that's not fancy enough for you can open a web browser the same way ...
import poser
try:
import webbrowser
webbrowser.open_new("http://www.mycoolwebsite.com/MyAwesomeReadme.html")
except:
MessageBox("There's a problem, please visit http://www.mycoolwebsite.com/MyAwesomeReadme.html")
The web page can be anything the browser can display.
P.S. This is how the vendor links that are in some products work. They just link to the vendors store page instead of a readme.
Nerd! thank you, this is going in the right direction, no knowing any python, I'm just guessing at how to enter sytax and here is what I'm experiencing so far.
If this is possible to have paragraphs, can you provide an example syntax? Thanks!

the xmp way is a possibility, but there is a lot of info in my readme that I want to give for a specific folder, plus I'm betting most people don't show the xmp info in their libraries, it's kind of a dig for them. The simple popup is what I'd like to achieve. I posted this request over in the python forum, maybe this is a new idea for scripter.

It would be reaaallly useful to have a feature like this so you can open notes pertaining to a specific folder with some special instructions so people don't have to dig up the readme files.

No, I mean you click on an icon in the library and a pop up window will have something like some notes in it. For example see image I attached. This is what you can do in Daz Studio..
Thread: Create prop | Forum: Poser 12
The reason someone might want to externalize the geometry is because if it's large mesh and has a large file size, having multiple instances of it in your scene might bog down the scene. Externalizing the geometry will save you some resources.I mean like really, is all this jumping through hoops necessary at all? I've been saving props to library for 25+ years never had a single problem.... Add prop to library_click on preview image to reload... It always works....Am i doing it wrong or are the propeller heads Rube Goldberging something simple?...LOL
Thread: Create prop | Forum: Poser 12
Here is a manual hack, save the prop to a library of choice, but also save the geometry in a runtime folder of your choice.
You can cut and paste this text, just change the "your folder name:your obj" to the correct info (be sure to get the brackets!):
{
storageOffset 0 0.3487 0
objFileGeom 0 0 :Runtime:Geometries:your folder name:your objfile.obj
}
I hope this helps.

Thread: Is there a way to organize content in Poser 11? | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical
Can you let us know what types of things you are trying to organize? Like if you wanted to separate all the V4 clothing from the V4 character/texture from the M4 stuff, you might want to consider having an external runtimes folder for each. For example, I have on my program files folder a folder called "external runtimes". Under that folder I have separate folders for V4 clothing, V4 hair, V4 characters, M4 clothing, M4 characters, Props and Scenes, Animals, Creatures. When I unzip a V4 character, I extract all the contents to the external runtimes/V4 Characters folder. After you have all your separate runtimes, you can load each runtime in poser library and just switch between them.
The favorites option isn't a bad one, I just wish you could point to an entire folder you like rather than load each piece one by one. There has been some discussion on this entire folder pointing, but it's tricky. I wish they would upgrade the favorites options.

Here's the style I like. Basically 2 render passes in firefly with different settings and then put together in a paint program. This scene took less than a minute to render at 200dpi. I want the graphic novel look and feel, so I need the ink lines on edges of most of the items. I absolutely don't want any photo-real and hope that in future releases of poser, the graphic art aspect is taken into consideration, it's really what Poser was originally intended to do, to be a "posing" tool for artists.
Thread: Poser 12, FIREFLY and RTX graphics cards | Forum: Poser 12
LoL, I still use Poser 5 to convert heir files and rig my models. I texture in Poser 2012pro and Render in Poser 11 Pro. I use firefly exclusively and as mentioned earlier, the Superfly and Iray render engines do have that dotty-film grainy look to them that I absolutely cannot stand plus the render times are horrendous just to wait and spot a mistake.
I have an i9 processor, 64 gigs ram and RTX 2080. When I do a render I do hear that graphics card wind up for cooling, so it must be drawing some power from the card, maybe? I dunno such things.
Primorge: Thanks for the compliment :-) I call it Hybrid 3d rendering cuz I want it to look more graphic/hand drawn but it is reality a 3d render. I have a process to get the style of final image I want. I absolutely cringe when I look back at some of my old works and wish people did not judge me based on that, lol. If folks would like to see what I have evolved my art style too, let me know, I'll post a ... uh... 'tame' picture here.

Thread: Poser 12, FIREFLY and RTX graphics cards | Forum: Poser 12
I had a lengthy discussion at the other website about photo-real versus graphic art style. Most people there preferred to render photo-real because it was a challenge, however, when asked what they look for in 3d art or comids that aren't their own or when they aren't doing art, they seemed to prefer the graphic art or toon look, which made my kinda scratch my head. Personally, I love the graphic art look and feel, and when I go looking at online comics, the "photo-real" comics just don't have the same appeal, it has to be done so damn good or it's fakey. I realize as software progresses the challenge to create something that looks so realistic is the challenge, but there is another group of artists, myself included, that would prefer to have more graphic art options than photo-real. When making a comic or story with multiple panels and images, photoreal becomes a challenge when trying to maintain consistency of look and feel. Some models you purchase are textured photo-real and some are kinda-meh, when put together in the same scene, they really stand out next to each other and it ruins the continuity. Graphic art style rendering covers a multitude of sins in that regard, it blends everything together, better, in my opinion. Also, when doing stories or multiple image comics, superfly is hella slow waiting for a render. That's why I get kind of nervous of firefly going the way of the dinosaur, I don't want it phased out. I bought poser to help me with my lack of hand drawn skills back in the day, as time goes on however, the Poser focus went to trying to create a photo-realistic image. Tools for us graphic artists are still very much desired, please take note Bondware :-)
