I'll second that ^^^
just to confirm a couple of points though...
The inverse square doobrie.. that's the math function a couple of posts up right?
And I only have to apply that to my point light to get it to work? You are a clever bunny.
And the square for the fire... does that NEED to be a one sided square? I used a hi res one and am having to light it from the front to get it to look bright - if I use a one sided one will it take light from the back too?
:edit:
By the way, I'm doing this as I'm going along, trying different things, I just want to know if I'm on the right track... this PC doesn't exactly render at the speed of lightning lol

That looks geat, but I was really looking for a way of doing it myself... more as a learning excersize than anything else.
I was kinda hoping there would be a material node combination or something that would do it.
That product really looks the part, and it mentions Python scripts.... anyone know if this is the only solution?
I really would like scratch made flames :D

Well, it's finished. It's still not perfect, and for some reason I seem to keep squashing the videos but hey ho.
If anyone is interested I still have the .bvh file saved - but I wouldn't know how to go about distributing it (if anyone was interested).
Many, many thanks for all the help I recieved here, it's very much appreciated - all in the name of education!

Thread: Two Problems with Poser 7 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Yeah, I typically save before I render. I have a third problem lately with that. When I try to open what I saved, my poser shuts down. Never had this before. I even uninstalled poser, then reinstalled it. The problems still persist. Sigh...
I had that.
Thanks to this thread and turning off the "use external binary morph targets" setting, I can now work on the same piece more than once.
Thanks people!

Attached Link: Final preview animation before the big render :o
Thanks Dave, that's a clever tip, and one I will be using in future.Remember this is just a "my first walk cycle" project, so moving the arms out a bit isn't really an issue, it's just a learning experience.
I've repaired my crazy cloth, and got a far as the link shows.....
Just a case of rendering it nicely instead of using the preview animation settings and ironing out the jump in the loop and I'm going to call this little project finished.
Then I'll move onto trying to use this walk cycle in the walk designer or something in an attempt to get here to actually move through a scene.
Look out in a few hours for the final rendering of "my first walk cycle", and then a new thread begging for help in making her move lol.

I think I found my problem.
It's a little embarassing, but a lesson learnt none the less....

I was pretty sure that there was no cloth touching skin at the beginning... but I'll re-run the simulation with bigger clothing and the fold resistance down and the shear resistance up.
I'm using Poser 7.
When I had her legs straightening right out it looked kinda weird.. her legs kinda 'popped' when they got to being straight :s

Attached Link: All gone wrong in the cloth room :(
I uploaded the issue I am having here.......because Poser decided to have a fit and lock up losing the last 2 hours work :(
Never mind eh?
Sorry that the video is all swoopy, but it's the best one I had saved before I went onto something else lol.

I have started a static render, but I will post a pic of the craziness as soon as it is finished (probably tomorrow lol).
I'll post a vid of how the walk looks now at the same time (if I can find somewhere that's not youtube to host it, 'cos I'm convinced they'll pull topless stuff down :( ).

oo I never thought of that.
Get ready for it to disappear.....
But I didn't know how else to post it :(
Oh, and my dynamic clothing isn't working out well.... I'm getting craziness in the clothing :(

I'll second that
I'm a noob, only a few weeks along the path you are starting on.
:edit: Having said that, I just spotted your post count and join date, so I may be wide of the mark there lol
Trust me, once you grasp the basic concepts, things get much easier, but you will always find something else to tear your hair put over!
The good thing is?
It doesn't matter a jot, you'll find that every time you get something else sussed, you'll be over the moon, it's very rewarding that way.
And the support for free stuff is amazing... I love this community.

Thanks Dave.
I got the hips raised by going to each of the keyframes (I have only four) and copied and pasted a new slightly higher Y value in there.
Looks a lot better now.
And as for the boxes thing, many thanks.
I'll update here before too long, she's getting clothes now :)

I don't know,
If it is, that opens up a whole new set of opportunities.
Next, it's time to get it to look right and then see if I can use it to make her walk through a scene.
Any tips?

Using magnets deformers has an advantage that you can translate them in the clothing, (magnetise clothing) so that the clothing follows the body contours when you pose the model, and you don't have to made special morphs in the clothing.
OooOOOoooooo that's what "magnetise clothing" means........
Handy, handy - nice one.
