Just a thought - Are any of you folks able to make a site for fractals only, thats as easy to use as this and that any of us who wanted to join could contribute to the making and upkeep? (there's an opportunity here for some clever person to make a few bucks). I don't have my own website (one day maybe) so R*****, even though its far from ideal, is the only place I can post my fractals. I wonder how many of us would be here if we could be someplace else.

Thread: Ranking goes crazy??? | Forum: Fractals
Yep I've seen this too, on one of my images (Specimen Jar) its got an average ranking of excellent yet on the thumb its almost there, also seen one of Isir's (needs touch ups) and one of Hilary's (almost there) the same. I must admit when I saw the one on mine I thought WHAT THE!!!!!!!! then I saw the larger image with the average of excellent, think its just a funny little glich in the Renderosity system, perhaps we should rename the R****** sever 'HAL' it seems to have a mind of its own and obviously didn't like my Speciment Jar LOL. Thread: Discussion Topic: Traditional vs. Non-Trad Fractal Art | Forum: Fractals
Sometimes I start a fractal with an idea, they're the worst coz I don't have the skill to know what will do what so its a lot of trial, error and time. Other times I just work with a 'lets see what happens attitude'. I get bored easily doing the same type of images and just recently came to an abrupt halt from using the same ucl's. I guess I'm more non traditional in regards to spirals and mandy's, I'll try most any formula and rarely use the same one more than a couple of times. I love Apophysis flames and the imported pic fractals and I like messing around with post porcessing.
Thread: Attention all Renderosity artists!! | Forum: Community Center
"Yes, Renderosity has my permission to use my artwork from my art gallery for promotional use only". I guess these means I'll be spending some time resizing some of my gallery images - one lives in hope :)

Hi Ric, here's where you can get the programme (which is free) http://www.parkenet.org/jp/ufresources.html and here is where you can get some documentation on flame fractals http://www.fractalus.com/fdimentia/flame-chm.zip That should sort you out for now :) Olma
Thread: trouble uploading to gallery | Forum: Fractals
I had a similar problem with a thumbnail image which the form validation error said was in excess of the 200 x 200 pixels. I have my thumbnail application set to a maximum of 200 x 200 and when I checked the size it was only 180 x 200 (and under 15kb) so I uploaded the same image again and it went up fine. I've noticed quite a few changes on the site recently so I'm guessing the system is perhaps a little 'testy' for now.
Thread: Thumbnail size | Forum: Fractals
I use Ulead PhotoImpact primarily because its the only one I understand enough to do what I want. I looked in at the forum to see if anyone else was having this sudden onset of thumbnail size problems and I see I'm not alone, R***** must have come down hard on their rules at the same time as changing things on the site. Anyway I'm pleased a solution has already been offered.
Thread: I could really use some help on Apohysis | Forum: Fractals
I fell in love with Apopysis the first time I saw what it could do, and I just love working with flame fractals - some things I've figgered out, I've now got my random number of triangles set to between 2 and 3, I've found the less the number of em the better. I work with 35 iterations in UF3 until the last minute and if necessary render them larger by copying and pasting a layer at a time into a new box, slow but sure way of getting it larger and not locking up the computer. Hope this helps some of you folks with many layer flame fractals, who may not have discovered it for yourself yet. I'm currently working on a 53 layer plus flame and it aint finished yet, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed when it comes to making it a decent size.
Thread: thumbnails... | Forum: Fractals
I feel like such a 'duh' lol. I never even considered doing this, I've noticed occasionally that the large image didn't really look like the thumbnail. It didn't annoy me at all, just surprised me a little, now I know why. You probably have guessed that I'm new to photo editing!
Thread: UF3 + ENR Flame ucl = Thread Out of Memory error? | Forum: Fractals
I had this message when rendering to disk, didn't know what it meant so I just kept closing the little box till the rendering finished, luckily it still turned out fine.

UF3. I have both and I really can't get to grips with XD, havn't produced anything like 1 image with it yet, but then I may be technocologically challenged and you might do much better, other folks don't seem to have any bother with it.
