This tutorial did the trick Layer masks are located under the channels tab.
Copy the contents of your layer by selecting it then pressing Ctrl+A to select all followed by Ctrl+C to copy.
Select the layer that you want to mask and create a new mask by clicking the "add layer mask" icon at the bottom of the layers panel.
Go to channels tab (at the top of the layers panel), and select the mask channel, it should be named Mask. Make sure the contents of the mask are selected (Ctrl+A), and paste the contents of the original layer into the mask channel Ctrl+V)

Thank you, kind of but not quite. I have managed to do it but as a workaround. Here are my layers, it has to be a way in which I can use the mask render as a mask.

Thanks again for your help but reading on this topic more and more it gives me the feeling that Poser 8 may not behave properly on a Windows 7 64 bit computer. I am in for a major headache? If I upgrade to Poser 10 has anybody had any problems with legacy models? When I upgraded to Poser 8 I had to use P3DO Explorer to recoup a lot of my thumbnails for my older models. It was a very tedious and long process. Any experiences with legacy models in Poser 10 or it is a easy process?
Thanks.

THanks guys!Ok so I take my Poser cd installation and install as ausual, does the cd gives me the option to install content somewhere else other than my C: drive. I have a 128 gig SSD drive as my C: drive and 3 TB D: drive as my Content drive. Should I just install the whole thing in my D: drive and nothing on My C:drive. I was reading that is best to separate Runtimes installed via DIM from Runtimes installed manually or via Bitrock. DAZ suggested this. "
You can move the Runtime folder to your new computer, then add the Runtime in Poser by pressing the 'add runtime' button and navigating to the folder that encloses the Runtime folder (not the Runtime folder itself).
If you have been storing your content in the Program Files directory (which was the default/standard in the past) you'll need to find a new location because Windows 7 considers the Program Files directory a specially protected location and items installed to there will often not work correctly."
So I am sorry but I am a bit confused. I have the cd installation, I will install Poser 8 in my C:drive with the basic libraries, during the installation can I direct Poser 8 to install content to my D:drive? And then after that, copy the Runtime folder to my new computer and then press " add runtime" to add all the other stuff I bought? Or just install Poser 8 on my D:drive and then copy the Runtime folder to the same location and use the "add runtime" within Poser 8.
Thanks!!!

Quote - > Quote - Thank you guys, I just got my new computer and I was planning on putting my library on my E: drive because my C: drive is a SSD and it is super fast but does not have lots of room. I will check which Explorer it has eventhough I use mostly Chrome. Hopefully with the library in a different drive it will not be a conflict if I have Explorer 11 pre installed.
I have the same setup and it seems to work fine. The E drive is accelerated by using another SSD fitted to the motherboard but the speed gain is minimal. I also have taken an image of the C drive in case the SSD fails and back up the E drive on a regular basis. In theory this should allow me to apply the image to a new SSD and continue or, in the case of an E drive failure, load the backup to a new conventional drive.
I like that, I even have Colud based back ups because installing from scratch or losing files is a pain!!

Thanks guys! Well Adobe it starting to recommend SSD's for its applications, specially Premiere and After Fx. So I would think they are probably more reliable now than before. Ok about Poser, when I install Poser I usually go with the recommended install but I f I wanted Poser exe on my SSD drive and all the huge content on my 3TB regular HD, is ther an option to tell Poser, Ok software here, content in the bigger drive. I would think so. I have not installed my computer yet, but tomorrow I would like to start.

Ok, I just Google it and it pretty much said to go ahead and copy it back. My new computer has an SSD drive 128 gigs, as the OS drive, I have always install Poser in my C:drive, could I point the software to save the content into my bigger drive?

Quote - That's where I looked the first time I wanted to add the code. I don't see a link anywhere either so maybe it's quit working. I'm sorry the one I sent you didn't work.
I found the CSS Forum but nothings been posted there in a long time. You have to use the Archive to get it to display any threads.
I did find the cascade post, copy and paste it but nothing happened! I think i t has been disabled, too bad.
