Thanks Mike, Gonna take a look at it latter. Maybe it can help me out. I'd like to get into a new aspect of the modeling industry other than just making props for the market place.

What I mean by "Improper placement" is instead of the template loading as a template should, (i.e. like a skin) it acted like a Jpg image and applied over the head mesh with the eye areas on the side of the head. When viewed, the mesh shape for the head was there but it looked like someone painted eye liner on the side of her head. Will attempt to get an image for you after Christmas.

Well folks I finally managed to make the bloddy mushroom move and all the bones were accepted with the mesh when I exited the setup room. gonna try it again to see if I can reproduce it or if it was just a fluke of luck. Thanks for all the help. I found that if I name the parts in wings and import the whole figure into Poser I can go into the group edititor and re-name the parts there before entering into the setup room. This gives the bones something to match to. I was doing it backwards so to speak. I know I shouldn't have to rename the parts in the group edititor but if it works for me thats a win in my book. Gonna keep it simple and practice with simple props and work my way up. again thanks for all the help. I can finally see a use for this other than making props and rooms.

Sam I did name the parts, No they weren't long. I made a Mushroom with three stem parts and a cap. I named them:
stem1, stem2, stem3 and cap. Stem1 is the parent ending with the cap. simple and easy. the only thing I get is the part "stem1"

Rokket, I did select the parent. I also did one where I parented the parts useing the set parent to make my own without the hierarchy editor and still all I get is the parent, no children.

Sam, I tried it your way three times and got the same results. I don't know what I did wrong. I followed your words to the letter and loaded each piece into poser seperatly.
"Once the figure is completed, save each movable part out as an obj, keeping the size and position as they should be on the model.Import each piece into Poser with all the import options unchecked."
I then used the hierarchy editor like you said to set the dependencies. Then I hit Create new Figure and named it and saved it as a pz3. I then cleared the screen and found my new figure and opened it. All that was there 3 times in a row was the bottom of the mushroom stem. nothing else. what went wrong

I use Wings and yes it does allow me to name the parts. I do this before I load into poser.

I guess it's going to be a close guarded secret to make figures. Everyone keeps telling me to get Daz, I don't want daz... I need someone williang to mentor me in figure creation. I can make props but don't know the order inwhich to get the figures made correct. These are the steps I am useing:
make the prop model and name the parts. Example mushroom ; stem , stem 2 and so on.
load prop into poser and select setup room after saving it as a prop.
once in setup room, select bone creation tool and make bones.
open peramiters window and name the internal bones and visable name the same. example stem1 for the internal and visable name.
open group editor window and try to get body parts to match bone names.
This is where everthing goes nuts. I make the body part names match the bone names but when I try to leave the setup room to test it out, I keep getting the same thing, polygons not grouped to bones. I know this isn't rocket science and i'm probably just overlooking a simple step but I'm following the manual to the letter and have been trying for over a year. My patience are running thin. Can anyone that makes figures (people, vehicles, whatever) that has moving parts please help me figure out what i'm doing wrong. I've had people offer to rig things for me for a share of the proffits or a freebe. I don't want this. I need to be able to do the rigging myself but need help getting to that point.
